Start with this diagnostic checklist
Before replacing anything, record:
- Which program or game shows the error. Note the executable name in the message if one appears.
- When it happens. Does the error appear when Windows starts, when a launcher opens, or only when one older application starts?
- Where the program is installed. Right-click its shortcut, select Properties, and check Target or Open file location.
- Whether the application is 32-bit or 64-bit. An older program that requires
bool51.dllis likely to be a 32-bit application, but confirm this from its documentation, installer, or file properties rather than guessing. - Whether Windows Security removed the file. Check Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Protection history.

bool51.dll is a legacy application DLL, not a normal Windows system file. The safest solution is usually to repair or reinstall the specific program that needs it, using that program’s original installer or launcher.
What is bool51.dll?
The file’s recorded description is “Boolean Husk DLL.” Public file records associate it with Spatial Technology, Inc. and the older ACIS geometric-modeling technology lineage. Related records include other generation-specific files such as bool42.dll and bool62.dll.
That information identifies the file family, but it does not identify one confirmed modern game or application. No authoritative public documentation establishes the exact end-user software that installed every copy of bool51.dll.
The clearest available file record describes it as a Win32/x86 DLL and lists a database-reported version and size. Those values are useful clues, not a guarantee that every copy has identical metadata. Another public listing conflicts about the architecture, so do not replace the file based only on a download page’s x86 or x64 label.

Is bool51.dll part of Windows?
No reliable evidence indicates that Microsoft ships bool51.dll as part of Windows 10 or Windows 11. It should normally be located beside the application that uses it, not in:
C:WindowsSystem32
C:WindowsSysWOW64
On 64-bit Windows, System32 is the native 64-bit system directory and SysWOW64 is the 32-bit system directory. Neither is the normal installation location for this private application library.
The message may say that Windows cannot find the file, but Windows is only reporting a failed dependency load. It does not mean that Windows owns or provides the missing DLL.
What the error messages mean
You may see reported variants such as:
- “This application failed to start because bool51.dll was not found.”
- “The file bool51.dll is missing or corrupted.”
- “A required component is missing: bool51.dll. Please install the application again.”
- “Error loading bool51.dll. The specified module could not be found.”
- “The program can’t start because bool51.dll is missing from your computer.”
These are reported error variants rather than a single Microsoft-documented message.

The wording matters slightly:
- “Was not found” or “missing” usually means the application cannot locate the DLL in its search path.
- “Corrupted” may indicate that the file is damaged, incomplete, or incompatible.
- “The specified module could not be found” can mean that
bool51.dllexists but one of its own dependencies is missing. It does not always mean that the named file itself is absent.
Fix 1: Repair or reinstall the application
This is the most likely fix because bool51.dll belongs to the application that installed it.
If the program has a repair option
- Close the affected program and its launcher.
- Press Windows key + I to open Settings.
- Select Apps → Installed apps on Windows 11. On Windows 10, select Apps → Apps & features.
- Find the application in the list.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it on Windows 11, or select the application on Windows 10.
- Choose Advanced options if available.
- Select Repair.
- Start the application again.
If Repair is unavailable, open the application’s own installer from its original source. Some older installers provide Repair, Modify, or Reinstall after you select the existing installation.
A successful repair should restore bool51.dll to the application’s installation directory and allow the program to start. If the same error returns, uninstall the program, restart Windows, and install it again from the original vendor, disc, archive, or trusted launcher.
Do not delete the application folder manually before uninstalling unless the vendor’s instructions specifically require it. Manual deletion can leave registration data, saved files, or launcher records in an inconsistent state.
If the application is a Steam game
Use Steam’s file verification feature instead of downloading an individual DLL:
- Open Steam.
- Select Library.
- Right-click the affected game.
- Select Properties.
- Select Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for Steam to complete the scan.
- Start the game again.
Steam will replace files that are missing or damaged according to the game’s installation data. If verification does not help, use the game’s launcher repair function or reinstall the game.
If you do not know which program needs it
Do not guess based on the file name. Instead:
- Read the complete error dialog.
- Write down the executable named in the message.
- Right-click the application’s shortcut and select Open file location.
- Look for
bool51.dllin that folder and in the launcher’s folder. - Check Task Manager if the error appears during startup. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc, select Startup apps, and identify recently installed older software.
- Search Installed apps for old CAD, modeling, engineering, game, or graphics software that may have been installed before the error began.
If no installed application explains the reference, inspect Task Manager → Startup apps and Task Scheduler for an orphaned startup entry. Also run a malware scan. An unknown program requesting a legacy DLL should not automatically be treated as harmless.
Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software may remove or quarantine an application DLL after an update or scan. This is especially important if the application worked previously and then suddenly began reporting that bool51.dll was missing.

- Select Protection history.
- Review recent events.
- Open an event that mentions the affected application or
bool51.dll. - Check the original path, detection name, and action taken.
Restore or allow the file only when all of these are true:
- The file came from the application’s original installer.
- The path is the application’s own installation folder.
- The application is known and expected.
- The installer and file have trustworthy provenance.
- Your security product does not identify the file as malicious after review.
Microsoft warns that restoring a genuinely malicious file can put the device at risk. If the file was obtained from an anonymous DLL site, do not restore it. Remove it and reinstall the parent application from its official source instead.
After restoring a legitimate quarantined file, run the application. If Windows Security quarantines it again, leave it quarantined and contact the application vendor or use a clean installation package.
Fix 3: Confirm the architecture and application generation
A 32-bit program needs a compatible 32-bit DLL. Installing a 64-bit replacement will not make a 32-bit application work, and copying an older or newer related file is not a safe substitute.
Do not replace bool51.dll with:
bool42.dll
bool62.dll
The similar names suggest different ACIS-generation builds, not interchangeable files. A library may have the same general purpose while exposing different functions or expecting different dependencies.

To check the application’s architecture:
- Start the application if possible.
- Open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
- Select Details.
- Right-click the column headings and select Select columns.
- Enable Platform if your Windows version provides it.
- Check whether the process is 32-bit or 64-bit.
On some systems, a 32-bit process is marked with “32 bit” or “*32” beside its name. You can also inspect the application’s installer or documentation.
If the original installer is 32-bit, reinstall that exact application version. Do not try to solve the problem by placing a DLL in both Windows system folders. The application directory is normally the correct search location.
Fix 4: Repair a missing dependency
A DLL can exist on disk and still fail to load because another library it depends on is absent. This is a common interpretation of:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Error loading bool51.dll. The specified module could not be found.
First, reinstall or repair the parent application. Its installer is the authoritative source for the dependency set.
If the error also names a Microsoft runtime, install the matching Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable from Microsoft’s supported downloads page. Pay attention to architecture:
- A 32-bit application generally needs the x86 redistributable.
- A 64-bit application generally needs the x64 redistributable.
- Installing x64 does not replace x86 for a 32-bit application.
Do not install Visual C++ packages merely because bool51.dll is missing. There is no verified evidence that this file always depends on a particular Visual C++ version. Use this step only when the error names a runtime such as MSVCP*.dll or VCRUNTIME*.dll, or when the application’s official requirements specify it.
If reinstalling the application and its documented prerequisites does not help, capture the complete error and use a reputable dependency-inspection tool to identify which imported module cannot be loaded. Do not download each reported dependency from random DLL sites.
Fix 5: Run Windows component repair commands
System File Checker and DISM repair Windows components and protected system files. They do not normally recreate a private third-party ACIS DLL, so use them when other Windows problems are present, not as the primary replacement method for bool51.dll.
Run DISM
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Enter:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Press Enter and wait for it to finish.
- Restart Windows.
Run System File Checker
Open an elevated Command Prompt again and enter:
sfc /scannow
Press Enter and wait until verification reaches 100 percent. Restart Windows and test the affected application.
If SFC reports that it repaired files, test the application again. If it reports that it could not repair some files, run DISM first, restart, and run sfc /scannow again. If both commands complete successfully but bool51.dll remains missing, return to repairing or reinstalling the parent application.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesRepeatedly running SFC or DISM without identifying what changed can waste time while leaving the application installation damaged. Outbyte PC Repair provides a free scan that shows what it identifies; repairs are performed by the full version. It is optional, and reinstalling the application remains the definitive fix when that program owns bool51.dll.
Fix 6: Install Windows updates
Windows Update is general maintenance, not a known direct source of bool51.dll.
- Press Windows key + I.
- Select Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart when prompted.
- Test the affected application again.
This step is worthwhile if Windows components are unstable or the failure began after a broader system problem. It will not normally install a vendor-specific application DLL.
Fix 7: Check drivers only when the failure points to one
bool51.dll is not established as a Windows driver. Do not use Device Manager as the first repair method unless the application also reports a graphics, display, storage, or other hardware-related problem.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →If the error started after a graphics or device change:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant category, such as Display adapters.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
For a recent driver change, right-click the device, select Properties → Driver, and use Roll Back Driver if the button is available.
Do not remove a device or install an unrelated driver to repair a missing application DLL. Outbyte Driver Updater can reduce the manual work of checking which drivers are stale, but its free scan only identifies issues and the full version performs driver installation. Reinstalling the application is still the definitive fix for an application-owned bool51.dll.
Fix 8: Use System Restore after a recent change
If the program worked until a software installation, update, or cleanup operation, System Restore may undo the change.

- Review the changes.
- Select Next → Finish.
- Allow Windows to restart.
System Restore can revert system files, registry settings, and installed programs without deleting personal files. It is not a substitute for maintaining backups, and it may not restore a third-party DLL if the application was already incomplete.
Do not use regsvr32 for this file
regsvr32 is not a generic DLL installation command. It registers or unregisters DLLs that expose COM registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer.
bool51.dll is described as a computational application library, not an established COM server. Running either of these commands is therefore unlikely to repair the problem:
regsvr32 bool51.dll
regsvr32 C:pathtobool51.dll
Only run regsvr32 when the application vendor specifically instructs you to register a particular DLL and provides the correct command and architecture. Otherwise, repair the application that owns the file.

Why random DLL downloads are unsafe
Avoid downloading bool51.dll from anonymous DLL websites and copying it into System32, SysWOW64, or an application folder. A downloaded replacement may have:
- Malware or unwanted modifications.
- The wrong architecture.
- The wrong ACIS generation.
- Different exported functions.
- Missing dependencies.
- No trustworthy publisher or installation history.
Even a clean file may not fix the problem if the application is missing its installer data, configuration, or other companion libraries. The safe sources are the original application installer, the application vendor, the game launcher, or a trusted distribution platform’s repair function.
If the fixes fail, collect this information
Before contacting the application vendor or asking for technical help, record:
- The complete error text.
- The executable name and full path.
- The path where
bool51.dllis expected. - Your Windows version and system architecture.
- The application name and version.
- Whether the application is from Steam, another launcher, a disc, or a standalone installer.
- Whether antivirus quarantine contains the file.
- Whether repair, reinstall, or file verification changed the error.
- Any additional DLL named in the message.
- Whether the problem began after an update, cleanup, or driver installation.
This information distinguishes a missing application file from a missing dependency, an architecture mismatch, an antivirus action, or an orphaned startup entry.
FAQ
Is bool51.dll a Windows file?
No. It is treated as a private DLL belonging to the application that installed it. There is no reliable evidence that Windows itself ships it.
Which program installs bool51.dll?
Public metadata associates it with Spatial Technology and the ACIS modeling technology lineage, but no dependable public source identifies one exact end-user program. The executable named in the error and the application’s installation path are more useful than guessing from the DLL name.
Is bool51.dll 32-bit or 64-bit?
The clearest available record identifies it as Win32/x86, although another listing conflicts. Verify the architecture from the original installer or application before replacing anything.
Can I copy bool51.dll into System32?
No. That is not the normal fix for a private application DLL and can create an incorrect or unsafe installation. Repair the parent application and keep the file in its intended application directory.
Should I install Visual C++ Redistributable?
Only if the error also names a Microsoft runtime such as MSVCP*.dll or VCRUNTIME*.dll, or the application’s official requirements call for it. If needed by a 32-bit program, install the Microsoft x86 package.
Should I register bool51.dll?
Normally, no. regsvr32 applies to DLLs designed for COM registration, not every DLL that fails to load.
What if bool51.dll is missing after antivirus removal?
Check Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Protection history. Restore the file only when its original application source and provenance are trustworthy. Otherwise, reinstall the application from its official source.
What is the definitive fix?
Identify the application that reports the error, then repair or reinstall that exact application from its original source. Do not substitute similarly named DLLs or use an anonymous downloaded copy.
