Guest Relations is a mystery-solving questline in World of Warcraft’s 20th Anniversary celebration, where you help Alyx investigate guests and stolen celebration goods. Start by completing the event invitation in Tanaris, then pick up “Lost and Busy” from Alyx in the celebration pavilion and meet Maru near Leeroy Jenkins’ food stall.
The introductory quests teach you to use the Idol of Ohn’ahra, Torch of Pyrreth, and Tricked-Out Thinking Cap to uncover clues and treasure. Quest phases and availability may vary in the live client, so use your quest log and clue board if a character or marker is missing.
How to unlock Guest Relations
Blizzard’s event update says characters level 10 and up receive “Another Timely Invitation,” which sends them to the celebration in Tanaris outside the Caverns of Time. Turn in the invitation to Yllana before starting the event quests.
Alyx is the Guest Relations contact in the celebration pavilion. Blizzard describes the activity as helping Alyx solve guest mysteries and find stolen celebration goods.

Introductory Guest Relations quest walkthrough
- Lost and Busy: Pick up the quest from Alyx and find Maru near Leeroy Jenkins’ food stall.
- Tat Big Meanie: Use the Idol of Ohn’ahra to investigate clue objects around the celebration grounds. The guides list Historic Tales at about 62.0, 51.5; Red Hair at 62.1, 51.7; Ratts at 64.0, 51.7; and Strange Torch at 63.6, 48.0 in Tanaris.
- To da Ruins!, Da Stick of Revealing, and Tweasure Hunt: Continue with Maru and Enzo to the Tanaris ruins. Use the Torch of Pyrreth to reveal clues and treasure. The guides place a brazier at 37.3, 78.9 and list additional Tanaris search locations. The introductory chain awards the Torch if you do not already have it.
- Thoughtful Pursuits: Use the Tricked-Out Thinking Cap to find puzzle components. The guide lists Crystal Ocular Lenses around 64.2, 50.1; the Thought Calculating Apparatus around 63.5, 48.5; and the Downy Helmet Liner around 61.5, 49.9.
- Continue the Alyx and Maru storyline: The wider story includes guest mysteries and stolen goods. Later local stories and Celebration Crate hunts can send you to other zones; follow the current quest log and clue board for your assignments.
Coordinates are navigation aids from the cited guides, not guarantees that an NPC or clue will be present in every phase or client version. Check the in-game map and quest tracker if a location does not match.

Wowhead lists achievements for the main storyline, hidden local stories, “Azeroth’s Greatest Detective” and its Detective title, and Celebration Crate collection. Warcraft Secrets also describes the detective achievement and crate-return progression. The Wowhead guide says crates remain available year-round, while most Guest Relations event content is tied to the anniversary; that availability statement comes from its 2025 guide and has not been verified against the 2026 client.

Finding clues and resolving stalls
- Use the quest tracker and clue board to identify the current target rather than relying on old coordinates alone.
- Make sure you have the relevant quest tool, then use it as directed near the clue or puzzle component.
- If a marker or NPC is missing, check your quest stages and client phase. The researched guides caution that availability and phasing can change.
- For later stories and crate hunts, follow the individual quest clues; their locations may be outside the celebration grounds.

Where do I start the Guest Relations questline?
Complete “Another Timely Invitation” by traveling to the celebration in Tanaris and turning it in to Yllana. Then find Alyx in the celebration pavilion and pick up “Lost and Busy.”
Where is Alyx?
Alyx is in the 20th Anniversary celebration pavilion in Tanaris. If she or a quest marker is not visible, check your current quest stage and phase.

What tools do I use to find the clues?
The introductory chain uses the Idol of Ohn’ahra, Torch of Pyrreth, and Tricked-Out Thinking Cap. Each is introduced for a different clue-finding or puzzle step.
Are Celebration Crates part of the main quest chain?
Crate collection is a related achievement path, distinct from progressing the main Alyx story. The cited Wowhead guide says crates remain available year-round, but this was not confirmed for the 2026 client.

Do the quest locations and coordinates always match?
No. Coordinates in the guides are navigation aids, and the research did not establish which quests, NPC phases, or clue locations remain available in the 2026 client. Use the current in-game quest log and clue board when details differ.
