If Windows says ep0lgr00.dll was not found, the file is most likely an old Epson laser-printer driver component, not a missing Windows runtime. The reliable repair is to identify the Epson printer software that requested it, remove the damaged installation, and install a complete compatible driver package.
Which fix applies to you
Use this list before changing anything:
- The error appears when printing or opening Epson software: remove and reinstall the Epson printer package.
- The error started after a Windows upgrade or printer migration: remove the obsolete printer and install a driver that supports the current Windows release.
- Your antivirus quarantined the file: inspect quarantine, verify the original path and Epson signature, then reinstall the complete package.
- The Epson printer is no longer used: remove the printer and leftover Epson software instead of restoring the DLL.
- The error appears at Windows startup with no printer connected: inspect Startup apps, installed Epson software, and scheduled tasks for an abandoned printer utility.
- The message says “specified module could not be found”:
EP0LGR00.DLLmay exist while another dependency is missing. Reinstall the entire driver package. - The error remains after reinstalling: check Windows architecture, remove a stale driver package, and repair Windows components as a secondary step.
Do not begin by copying a standalone DLL into System32. That approach often leaves the actual printer-driver installation broken.
What ep0lgr00.dll is
Public file records associate EP0LGR00.DLL with SEIKO EPSON CORPORATION and an EPSON Laser Printer Driver. The internal description is reported as Arabic-rendered text meaning Epson laser-printer driver.

This is not established as a general Windows component such as Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET. It is also not evidence of a file included with every Windows installation. Historical records place copies in Epson printer-driver locations and Windows Driver Store paths, including folders beneath:
C:WindowsSystem32DriverStoreFileRepository
The reported historical versions, sizes, architecture labels, and dates are inconsistent between public records. Do not assume that every copy is 32-bit or 64-bit, and do not use those archival details as a universal specification for your computer.
An old or obscure Epson DLL is not automatically malware. Suspicion depends on its location, signature, and how it arrived on the system. A copy in a random temporary directory or unrelated application folder deserves more scrutiny than a signed file inside a printer-driver package.
Fix 1: Identify the Epson printer and reinstall its complete driver
This is the primary repair because ep0lgr00.dll appears to belong to Epson printer software.
1. Record the current printer and Windows details
- Press Windows + I.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Write down the exact Epson model, if it appears.
- In Settings, select System, then About.
- Under Device specifications, check System type.
The system type may identify an x64-based PC, an x86-based PC, or Windows on ARM. The Epson package must support both the printer model and the Windows architecture. Public records for this DLL conflict about architecture, so do not select a package based only on the filename.
Also note when the failure began. Common triggers include:
- uninstalling or reinstalling Epson software;
- upgrading Windows;
- removing an older Epson printer;
- antivirus quarantine;
- disk cleanup;
- Driver Store corruption;
- restoring or cloning an older Windows installation.
2. Remove the affected printer
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the affected Epson printer.
- Click Remove.
- Confirm the removal.
- Restart Windows if Settings or the Epson uninstaller requests it.
If you have several Epson printers, remove only the one connected with the error. Multiple Epson driver packages can coexist, and removing the wrong one can affect another working printer.
3. Remove Epson software that is no longer needed
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for Epson.
- Uninstall the Epson printer utility or driver package associated with the old printer.
- Restart Windows when prompted.
If the error appears during startup rather than printing, open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc, select Startup apps, and disable an obsolete Epson entry. You can also check Settings > Apps > Startup.
Do not delete random DLLs from Windows folders. Remove the parent printer software through its uninstaller.

4. Download the correct package
Use the Epson official Download Center and search by the exact printer model. Choose the correct country, Windows release, and architecture where Epson provides those choices.
Microsoft also recommends Windows Update or the printer manufacturer’s current package for printer drivers. If Epson no longer provides an installer for the model, try the Windows printer setup process before using an old installer.
Install the complete package, not a file extracted from an unrelated archive. Follow the installer’s connection instructions, whether the printer uses USB, Wi-Fi, or a network address.

- Select Add device.
- If Windows detects the Epson printer, select it.
- If it does not, choose the option to add it manually and follow the connection prompts.
- Print a test page from the printer’s settings.
The repair worked if the Epson software opens without the DLL message, the printer appears with the correct model, and a test page prints. If the same message returns, the package may be incompatible, incomplete, or dependent on another missing file.

Fix 2: Check antivirus quarantine before restoring anything
Antivirus software may have quarantined or deleted a legitimate old driver component. Do not restore it merely because the filename matches the error.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an event involving
EP0LGR00.DLLor Epson printer software. - Expand the event and inspect the original file path.
- Check whether the detected file was inside an Epson driver directory or Driver Store path.
- If your security product shows publisher or signature information, confirm that it identifies Epson.
- Run a full scan before restoring anything.
Restore the file only when its original location, publisher, and digital signature clearly identify Epson. Even then, use the restored file as a temporary diagnostic step and reinstall the complete Epson driver package afterward.

If the security product identifies the file as modified, unsigned, or located in a temporary or unrelated application directory, leave it quarantined. Remove the associated software and reinstall from an official source instead.
Fix 3: Verify the file path and digital signature
A file’s name alone proves very little. Check the copy that Windows or the error message is referring to.
- Open File Explorer.
- Search for
EP0LGR00.DLLon the Windows system drive. - Right-click a result and select Properties.
- Check the General tab for its location.
- Open Details and look for product or company information.
- Open Digital Signatures, if that tab exists.
- Select the signature and click Details.
- Confirm that Windows reports the signature as valid and that the signer identifies Epson.
A path under the Driver Store or an Epson printer-driver directory is more consistent with the file’s reported role. A copy under a random download folder, temporary directory, or unrelated program folder is suspicious.

A file in System32 is not automatically a Windows system file. Printer packages can use Driver Store and spooler-related directories. Do not replace a system copy simply because it is visible there.

A legacy Epson installer may fail because it does not match the installed Windows architecture or release.
- Open Settings > System > About.
- Read System type.
- Return to the Epson model-specific download page.
- Select the package matching the system type and Windows release.
- Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.
- Complete the installation and restart Windows.
Windows on ARM may not support an older manufacturer installer. In that situation, use Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Add device and allow Windows to locate a compatible driver.
If Windows Update offers a compatible class driver, it may restore printing even when the original Epson utility is no longer supported. The class driver may not include every Epson scanning, monitoring, or maintenance feature.
If the model is discontinued and Epson provides no compatible package, replacing the printer may be more practical than forcing an old driver onto a current Windows installation.
Fix 5: Remove a stale driver package
Removing a printer does not always remove its driver package. A damaged old package can continue to trigger errors or block a clean reinstall.
- Press Windows + R.
- Enter:
printui.exe /s /t2
- Press Enter.
- Open the Drivers tab.
- Select the obsolete Epson driver.
- Click Remove.
- Choose Remove driver and driver package, if offered.
- Confirm the removal.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the current model-specific Epson package.
Proceed carefully. Do not remove an Epson driver still used by another installed printer. If the package cannot be removed, return to Printers & scanners, delete printers using that driver, restart, and try again.
You can also inspect the printer in Device Manager:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Print queues and Printers.
- Right-click an obsolete Epson entry.
- Select Uninstall device.
- If Windows offers Attempt to remove the driver for this device, select it only when you are sure the device is obsolete.
- Restart and reinstall the correct package.
Device Manager is useful for removing a visible device, but it is not a substitute for the Epson installer.

Fix 6: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Use this step when Windows has broader corruption, installers fail unexpectedly, or other built-in components are also malfunctioning. These commands repair protected Windows components. They are not guaranteed to recreate an Epson third-party DLL.
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Retry the Epson driver installation.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. If SFC reports that it found and repaired corrupt files, restart and test again. If it reports that some files could not be repaired, repeat the Epson removal and installation steps rather than assuming SFC can supply EP0LGR00.DLL.

Do not use regsvr32 as a default fix
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. A printer-driver component is not automatically a self-registering DLL.

Running a command such as this is usually inappropriate:
regsvr32 EP0LGR00.DLL
It may produce an entry-point, module, or architecture error and will not rebuild the Epson printer package. Use the Epson installer and Windows printer setup instead. Only use regsvr32 when the specific software vendor’s instructions explicitly require it for that exact DLL.
Why standalone DLL downloads are unsafe
Random DLL download pages cannot establish:
- whether the file came from Epson;
- whether it matches your printer model;
- whether it has the correct dependencies;
- whether it matches your Windows architecture;
- whether it is digitally signed;
- whether another driver file is also damaged.
Copying a downloaded file into System32, SysWOW64, or an application directory can create a second, incompatible installation and expose Windows to tampered code. It also does not fix a missing printer queue, INF file, catalog signature, service, or dependency.
Use Windows Update or the official Epson model-specific installer. The goal is a complete signed driver package, not an isolated filename.

Collect these details before escalating:
- exact Epson printer model;
- Windows version and system type;
- complete error text;
- the path of any existing
EP0LGR00.DLL; - digital-signature result;
- antivirus quarantine details;
- whether the error appears at startup, during printing, or when opening Epson software;
- whether another DLL is named in the message.
If the failure began immediately after a known change and a suitable restore point exists, System Restore is a fallback. It is not a replacement for installing a supported printer driver.
If no Epson printer is used, remove the leftover Epson application, startup entry, or scheduled task that calls the DLL. If the printer is still needed but the model has no supported Windows package, contact Epson support or use Windows’ compatible printer driver.
