cnb_0334.dll is a Canon printer-driver component, not a normal Windows system file. If Windows says it is missing, was not found, or could not be loaded, repair the Canon printer package that installed it rather than downloading the DLL separately.
The safest fix is to identify the exact Canon printer, remove its damaged software and driver, restart Windows, and install the matching package from Canon’s official Software & Drivers portal. The filename alone does not reliably identify a printer model, Windows release, or compatible architecture.

- The exact Canon printer model is not established.
- Reported versions, sizes, paths, and hashes are inconsistent.
- The file is reported as 32-bit by some inventories, but the driver package—not the filename—must determine compatibility.
- It is not documented as part of Windows, Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET.
- A copy found under a Windows driver directory is not automatically a Microsoft file.

The program can't start because cnb_0334.dll is missing from your computer.
cnb_0334.dll was not found
Error loading cnb_0334.dll. The specified module could not be found.
The last message does not always mean that cnb_0334.dll itself is absent. It can also indicate that a dependency, driver registration, or related Canon component is damaged.
Fix 1: Identify the Canon printer and reinstall its package
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
This is the most likely solution for this file.
1. Identify the printer
Check the printer’s label or open:
- Press Windows + I.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Note the exact Canon model shown in the list.
If several Canon printers are listed, record each model. Also note which application displays the error. It may be a Canon utility, a print-monitor process, or another program that communicates with the printer.
2. Remove Canon software
- Press Windows + I.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps.
- Search for Canon.
- Remove the Canon printer utility, driver package, or setup software associated with the affected printer.
- Restart Windows when prompted.
If the Canon entry is not listed:
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
appwiz.cpl. - Press Enter.
- Remove the relevant Canon software from Programs and Features.
Do not manually delete files from C:WindowsSystem32, SysWOW64, or DriverStore. Windows protects driver packages and may reject or recreate files removed by hand.
3. Remove the printer
After uninstalling the software:
- Open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Select the Canon printer.
- Choose Remove.
- Confirm the removal.
- Restart Windows again.
If the printer cannot be removed, disconnect its USB cable before restarting. For a network printer, make sure it is powered off temporarily.
4. Install the correct Canon package
Use Canon’s official Software & Drivers support portal. Search for the exact printer model, select the installed Windows version, and download the available driver or full software package.
During setup:
- Select the correct printer model.
- Use the package intended for your Windows architecture.
- Do not substitute a package for a similar-looking Canon model.
- If the printer is connected by USB, connect it only when the installer requests it.
- If it is a network printer, confirm that the computer and printer are on the same network.
Restart Windows after installation, then print a test page from Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > your Canon printer > Print test page.
The repair worked if the test page prints and the original application opens without the DLL message. If the same error appears immediately, continue with the quarantine and architecture checks below instead of copying a replacement DLL.

When manually checking many old driver packages, it is easy to choose the wrong model or repeat an incomplete uninstall. Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Time needed: 5–10 minutes
Antivirus software may quarantine a Canon driver component after an update or a change in detection rules.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an event involving
cnb_0334.dll, Canon software, or the printer package. - Open the event and inspect the file path and details.
Only restore or allow the file if all of these are true:
- It is inside a Canon driver or installation directory.
- The file came from a Canon installer.
- Its Properties > Digital Signatures tab shows a valid Canon signature, if a signature is present.
- You have confirmed the alert is not identifying malware.
If the path is unknown, the signature is invalid, or the file came from a random download, do not restore it. Remove the old Canon package and reinstall it from Canon instead. Microsoft warns that restoring a genuine threat can expose the computer.
Fix 3: Check 32-bit and 64-bit compatibility
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
A reported 32-bit DLL does not mean that copying it into a 32-bit or 64-bit Windows folder will solve the problem. The complete Canon driver must match the printer and work with the installed Windows architecture.
To check your system:
- Press Windows + I.
- Select System.
- Select About.
- Read System type.
Then compare that information with the package offered for your exact printer on Canon’s support page.
A legacy Canon utility may fail even when Windows itself is working correctly. If only one old utility reports the error but printing works from other applications, the utility may not be compatible with the current Windows release. Reinstall the latest available Canon package first. If Canon provides no compatible utility, try:
- Right-click the utility’s shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Compatibility tab.
- Select Run this program in compatibility mode for.
- Choose an appropriate older Windows version.
- Select Apply, then OK.
Do not copy a DLL from another Canon model, Windows release, language, or architecture.

Fix 4: Repair the printer installation and queue
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
A damaged printer queue or stale driver package can produce a missing-file message even when the DLL exists.

- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Remove every unused or duplicate entry for the affected Canon printer.
- Open Apps > Installed apps.
- Remove old Canon printer software.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the correct Canon package again.
If Windows will not remove the old package, use Microsoft’s Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter. It can repair incomplete uninstall data that blocks a clean reinstall.
After reinstalling, open the printer’s queue and cancel old documents before testing. A damaged queue can make the driver appear broken when the installation itself is complete.
Fix 5: Repair Windows components when other programs also fail
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
Use DISM and System File Checker when other Windows components are also failing, Windows Update is damaged, or several unrelated applications show system-file errors. These commands repair protected Windows components. They do not normally restore a third-party Canon driver file.
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for it to complete.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test the Canon application again.
Do not close the window while either scan is running. If SFC reports that it repaired files, test the printer. If it reports that some files could not be repaired, repeat the Canon driver removal and installation steps rather than assuming SFC will restore cnb_0334.dll.

Fix 6: Use System Restore after a recent system change
Time needed: 20–45 minutes
Use System Restore if the error began immediately after a Windows update, driver removal, software installation, or other system change and a restore point exists.
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
rstrui.exe. - Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point created before the error began.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Review the changes.
- Select Next, then Finish.
System Restore affects system files, settings, drivers, and installed programs. It does not normally remove ordinary personal documents and photos. After restoration, reinstall the Canon package if the printer still does not work.

If malware is suspected, scan the computer first. Do not use a restore point as a substitute for malware removal.

regsvr32 is for DLLs that provide registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer, commonly used by COM or ActiveX components.
There is no reliable evidence that cnb_0334.dll is a self-registering component. Running this command is therefore not a first-line repair:
regsvr32 cnb_0334.dll
It may return an error saying that the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. That does not repair a missing Canon driver, a damaged dependency, or a broken printer queue. Do not register this file unless Canon’s installer documentation specifically requires it.
Why downloading the DLL separately is unsafe
Do not download cnb_0334.dll from a DLL repository or copy it into System32, SysWOW64, or an application folder. A downloaded file may contain malware, belong to a different Canon model, use the wrong architecture, or be incompatible with the rest of the driver.
Even a genuine-looking replacement may leave the driver registration, dependencies, print processor, or queue damaged. The safe source is Canon’s official support portal, using the exact printer model and Windows version.

Is cnb_0334.dll a Windows file?
