The correct way to clear Roblox cache depends on your device. Android provides per-app cache and data controls; iPhone and iPad generally require force-closing, offloading, or reinstalling; Windows has an official local app-data reset; and Mac is best refreshed by uninstalling and reinstalling Roblox.
Before deleting local data, confirm that you know your Roblox username and password. Resetting the app can sign you out and remove local settings or temporary files, but it should not delete your account, Robux, inventory, membership, or cloud-saved account progress.
Before clearing Roblox cache
- Close Roblox and Roblox Studio completely.
- Restart your device first. Roblox recommends trying a restart before reinstalling the software: official reinstall instructions.
- Check Roblox Status for a service outage.
- Record any error code or message.
- Confirm that you can sign in again after resetting the app.
“Roblox cache” can mean different things: installed-client files, Android app data, iPhone app storage, browser cache and cookies, or temporary files recreated when Roblox launches. Clearing browser cache is not the same as resetting the installed Roblox client.
Clear Roblox cache on Windows
For a Roblox website or browser-launch problem
If the Roblox website looks broken or the browser fails to launch the player, clear temporary files and cookies in the browser you use. Roblox provides browser-specific guidance for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari in its website troubleshooting article. This may sign you out of websites.

Windows temporary internet files, such as C:Users<username>AppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsINetCache, are browser-related data—not necessarily the Roblox desktop client’s own files.
Full Windows Roblox app-data reset
For crashes, repeated update prompts, corrupted assets, freezing, or persistent client errors, Roblox documents this deeper reset:
- Uninstall Roblox. On Windows 10, go to Settings → Apps → Apps & features, select Roblox, and choose Uninstall.
- On Windows 11, open Control Panel → Programs → Programs and Features, select Roblox, and choose Uninstall or Uninstall/Change.
- Press Win + R, type
CMD, and press Enter. - Run these commands:
cd AppDataLocal
rmdir /s Roblox- When asked to confirm deletion, type
yand press Enter. - Restart Windows.
- Reinstall Roblox from the official Roblox website or official app channel.
This removes the Roblox directory under your current Windows user’s local AppData folder. It is a deep app-data reset, not merely a browser-cache cleanup. Close Roblox and Roblox Studio before running it.
Graphical alternative
If you do not want to use Command Prompt, uninstall Roblox, open File Explorer, enter %LOCALAPPDATA% in the address bar, and delete the Roblox folder if it is present. Restart Windows and reinstall Roblox. If Windows says the folder is in use, restart the computer, confirm Roblox processes are closed, and try again.

Clear Roblox cache on Mac
Roblox’s current Mac guidance supports uninstalling and reinstalling rather than providing one universal cache button, Terminal command, or hidden Finder path.
- Quit Roblox completely.
- Open Applications in Finder.
- Select Roblox and drag it to the Trash, choose Move to Trash, or press Command + Delete.
- Empty the Trash if you want to remove the application immediately.
- Restart the Mac.
- Open Safari, sign in to Roblox, and start an experience.
- Follow the installation prompts. If the installer does not open, find
Roblox.dmgin Finder and open it.
Do not delete arbitrary hidden Roblox folders based on unverified advice. If reinstalling does not help, contact Roblox Support with your macOS version, Roblox version, and error message.
Clear Roblox cache on Android
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps, Applications, or App management.
- Select Roblox.
- Tap Storage, Storage & cache, or the equivalent option.
- Choose Clear cache for a lighter cleanup.
- If the problem continues, choose Clear data, Clear storage, or Delete data, then confirm.
- Open Roblox and sign in again if prompted.
Android menu names differ between manufacturers and operating-system versions. Roblox’s official Android guidance specifically recommends using the application manager and clearing Roblox data.
- Clear cache: removes temporary files and is usually the least disruptive option.
- Clear data/storage: resets the app more thoroughly and can remove login state and settings.
- Uninstall/reinstall: creates a fresh app installation.
If clearing data does not help, restart the device, force-close Roblox, update it through Google Play, and reinstall it from Google Play. Also test without a VPN, proxy, aggressive battery optimizer, or security application that might interfere.

Clear Roblox cache on iPhone or iPad
iOS does not provide the same general per-app Clear cache button commonly found on Android. Roblox’s practical refresh options are force-closing, offloading, deleting, or reinstalling the app.
Quick refresh
- On an iPhone with Face ID, swipe up from the bottom and pause. On a model with a Home button, double-click the Home button.
- Swipe the Roblox preview upward to force-close it.
- Reopen Roblox.
- Restart the iPhone or iPad if the problem remains.
Offload or delete Roblox
- Open Settings → General → iPhone Storage or iPad Storage.
- Select Roblox.
- Choose Offload App for a less destructive reset, where available.
- For a deeper reset, choose Delete App, confirm, then reinstall Roblox from the App Store.

Roblox cookies on iPhone
Clearing Roblox cookies applies to Roblox website data viewed in Safari or another browser. It is not a substitute for reinstalling the iOS app when the app itself crashes or fails to load. If the issue is only with the website, clear that browser’s cookies and temporary data instead.

- Check Roblox Status for an outage.
- Try another Wi-Fi or mobile network.
- Update Roblox and your operating system.
- Check that the device has sufficient free storage and meets Roblox’s current compatibility requirements.
- Temporarily test without a VPN, proxy, antivirus, firewall, parental-control tool, or network filter, if permitted.
- Check the device’s date and time settings.
- Try another Roblox experience. If only one experience fails, the problem may involve its scripts, assets, servers, or configuration rather than your cache. Roblox discusses this distinction in its connection troubleshooting guidance.
- Contact Roblox Support with your device model, operating-system version, Roblox version, error code, and the steps that reproduce the problem.
Error Code 268 is not proof that cache is the cause. Roblox identifies network issues and conflicts with other applications as possible contributors, so clearing local data is only one troubleshooting step: Error Code 268 guidance.

These actions should not intentionally delete your Roblox account or cloud-held Robux, inventory, memberships, or account progress. However, local settings and login state can disappear, so verify your credentials and account recovery method first. Temporary assets will normally be downloaded again during later launches.
Common questions
How often should I clear Roblox cache?
Only when troubleshooting a specific problem. Routine clearing is not normally necessary and does not guarantee better FPS, lower ping, or faster servers.
Can I clear Roblox cache without logging out?
Sometimes. Android’s Clear cache is less disruptive, but Clear data, desktop app-data deletion, and reinstalling can require a fresh sign-in.

Should I clear Roblox cache or reinstall?
Use the least disruptive option first. Clear Android cache for minor temporary-file problems; use app-data deletion or reinstalling when the client repeatedly crashes, freezes, or fails to update.
Should I clear cache for Roblox Studio too?
Close Studio before resetting Windows Roblox data. Local logs and settings may be recreated; Roblox documents Studio log context at its debugging documentation.
Will clearing cache fix Roblox lag?
It may help corrupted local files, but it will not generally fix high ping, server-side lag, weak hardware, an overloaded network, or a poorly optimized experience.
