What Netflix Games streaming actually is
Netflix has two different ways to access its games:

- Mobile games: downloaded and played on compatible phones and tablets.
- TV and browser games: launched from Netflix and streamed through the service rather than installed through Steam, Epic Games Store, or another desktop launcher.
Netflix describes the TV and computer feature as a beta experience. The original limited test began in 2023 with games including Oxenfree and Molehew’s Mining Adventure; the current rollout covers more countries and a broader selection. Netflix’s current requirements and availability are listed in its Help Center.
This does not mean every game in the Netflix catalog can run in a browser. Mobile-only games must still be downloaded to a phone or tablet.

How to play Netflix Games in Chrome or Edge
- Open Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on a compatible computer.
- Go to Netflix.com and sign in.
- Choose a Netflix profile.
- Click Games at the top of the Netflix interface.
- Select a title from a compatible game row.
- Click Play Game.
- Use the keyboard, mouse, or trackpad—or scan the QR code if that game requires a phone controller.
To exit, Netflix says to hold Shift + Tab and select Exit Game.
The most useful compatibility test is the button itself: if a title does not show Play Game, it may be available only as a mobile download.

The 10 Mbps figure is a recommendation, not a promise of perfect gameplay. Bandwidth and latency are different: a fast speed test cannot guarantee responsive controls. Wi-Fi congestion, household traffic, VPN routing, browser performance, and distance from Netflix infrastructure can all affect the experience.
Which Netflix games work in a browser?
Netflix’s catalog combines party games, casual games, interactive fiction, adaptations, tie-ins, and mobile-only releases. The presence of a title on the Netflix Games catalog does not prove that it is browser-compatible.

Look for the Play Game control and the Games or Party Games rows on Netflix.com. Netflix says those rows appear when the account and device qualify. The catalog and platform availability can change, so a static list of browser-compatible titles will eventually become outdated.
Browser games are launched from Netflix.com and do not require a conventional Windows or macOS installation. Netflix describes the feature as testing game-streaming technology, so the practical experience is closer to cloud gaming than to downloading a local PC game.
Do you need a controller?
Not always. Some browser games use a keyboard, mouse, or trackpad. Other games require a phone or tablet to act as a controller. Do not assume that every title supports a USB or Bluetooth gamepad: Netflix’s documented TV experience currently emphasizes phones and tablets, and controls vary by game.
Using a phone as a controller
- Start a compatible game on Netflix.com or a supported TV.
- Wait for the QR code to appear.
- Scan it with a phone or tablet.
- Install or update the Netflix Game Controller app if prompted.
- Follow the pairing instructions and use the phone as the gamepad.
For multiplayer games, each player may need a separate phone or tablet. If pairing fails, scan the QR code again, confirm both devices have internet access, update the controller app, close and relaunch the game, or try another phone. Netflix’s current controller instructions are the authority because app prompts can change.

Where is browser gaming available?
As checked on August 16, 2026, Netflix’s Help Center lists Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Netflix may add countries or change availability. Check the live support page rather than treating this list as permanent. Browser access and TV access are also separate: an account may qualify on a computer without qualifying on a particular television or streaming device.
What does Netflix Games cost?
Netflix says its games are included with a membership, with no separate game fee, advertisements inside the games, or in-app purchases. That does not mean the games are available independently of Netflix, nor does it guarantee that every plan, device, account, or title supports every game experience.

If the Games tab is missing
Try these steps in order:
- Confirm that your country is supported.
- Switch to Chrome or Edge.
- Update the browser.
- Refresh Netflix, or sign out and back in.
- Check whether Netflix is showing only mobile games.
- Try another profile or computer.
- Temporarily disable a VPN or proxy as a diagnostic step.
- Check Netflix’s current Help Center instructions for rollout changes.
If you see only mobile games, Netflix says to check the country, use Chrome or Edge, and update the browser. A computer that can stream Netflix video may still fail to show the Games row because game access has narrower browser, device, account, and regional requirements.

Netflix Games is a good fit if you already subscribe to Netflix and want convenient casual, family, party, or Netflix-related games without installing a desktop launcher. It is also useful when a laptop or supported TV is available but a console is not.
It is a poor fit if you want major new releases, a large library of purchased PC and console games, broad conventional-controller support, mods, detailed graphics settings, offline PC play, or consistently competitive latency. Access is tied to the subscription, and Netflix can change its catalog, supported devices, or beta features. Included access is not ownership.

Netflix Games vs. Xbox Cloud Gaming

Microsoft supports Xbox Cloud Gaming across supported browsers, PCs, consoles, phones, tablets, selected smart TVs, and other devices, but plan, region, and game availability vary. See the official Xbox Cloud Gaming page for current details.
GeForce NOW is another kind of alternative: it is primarily designed to stream compatible PC games that you already own or can access through supported stores and services. It is a better match for an existing PC-game library than for someone seeking Netflix-style bundled access. NVIDIA’s current service information is at GeForce NOW.
The bottom line
Netflix’s browser gaming beta is real and usable, but it is best understood as a convenient extra bundled with Netflix—not as a complete cloud-gaming platform. If Netflix shows a Play Game button in Chrome or Edge, you can launch that selected title without a traditional PC installation. Check the control method first, expect regional and device restrictions, and choose Xbox Cloud Gaming or GeForce NOW instead if you need a deeper library or more conventional gaming hardware.
