The Infinix GT 20 Pro launched in 2024 with a 6.78-inch 144Hz AMOLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate processor and a separate Pixelworks X5 Turbo visual-processing chip. That extra chip can help supported games produce smoother-looking motion, but its advertised output of up to 120fps is not a promise of native 120fps rendering in every game. The phone is a gaming-focused 2024 model, not a new 2026 release.
When did the Infinix GT 20 Pro launch, and where?
The GT 20 Pro was unveiled in Saudi Arabia on April 28, 2024. Pixelworks announced its global collaboration with Infinix the following day, April 29. Sales in Saudi Arabia were reported to begin on May 1, 2024. These dates describe the initial launch and related announcement, not a single worldwide release date; Infinix’s product page does not establish one universal launch date or price for every market. Gizmochina’s launch report and Pixelworks’ announcement document those events.
At the Saudi launch, the reported price was SAR 1,299 for the 12GB RAM/256GB storage model. That is a regional 2024 launch price, not a current global price. For a purchase in 2026, check local stock, configuration, warranty and the retailer’s price rather than treating that figure as current. Gadgets 360 reported the Saudi price and sales date.

What does the Pixelworks X5 Turbo gaming chip do?
The X5 Turbo is a visual-processing chip, not a second general-purpose CPU or a replacement for the phone’s main processor. The Dimensity 8200 Ultimate runs the operating system and game; Pixelworks says its chip can handle visual processing such as frame interpolation and image enhancement, helping reduce some rendering pressure on the main GPU.
Native frames, interpolated frames and screen refresh are different
- Native frame rate: Frames rendered by the game itself. The achievable rate depends on the game, graphics settings, device performance and thermal conditions.
- Interpolated frame rate: The visual processor estimates and inserts frames between rendered ones. This can make motion appear smoother, but those additional frames were not rendered by the game engine as new gameplay frames.
- Refresh rate: How often the display can update. The GT 20 Pro’s panel supports up to 144Hz, but that does not make a game render at 144fps.
Pixelworks advertises up to 120fps output in supported content and describes features including motion-estimation and motion-compensation frame interpolation and SDR-to-HDR conversion. Its launch announcement names Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty: Mobile, Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail among supported experiences. Support is not universal: the game, mode and software need to be compatible, and an “up to” figure is not a guarantee of native 120fps gameplay. What the 144Hz AMOLED screen means in practice
The 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel can refresh up to 144 times per second. A higher refresh rate can make scrolling and compatible game motion look smoother than on a 60Hz screen. AMOLED technology can deliver deep blacks and high contrast. Infinix also lists up to 1,300 nits peak brightness, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, 2,304Hz PWM dimming and up to 360Hz touch sampling on its product page.

Those are manufacturer specifications, and peak figures or touch behavior can depend on operating mode and conditions. Apps and games may run at lower refresh rates or impose their own frame-rate caps. A 144Hz panel alone does not remove input lag, guarantee high frame rates, or prevent performance from falling as the phone heats up. The 1,500Hz instant touch-sampling figure Infinix advertises is a specific mode, not the same measure as the up-to-360Hz touch sampling specification.
How the main processor supports gaming
The Dimensity 8200 Ultimate is the GT 20 Pro’s main performance platform: a 4nm 5G processor listed by Infinix with a maximum clock speed of 3.1GHz. LPDDR5X memory and UFS 3.1 storage complete the core hardware package. Infinix also cites its MAGT and AI-VRS optimizations for gaming. “Ultimate” is Infinix’s designation for this device’s implementation; it should not be taken by itself as evidence of a wholly different processor family.
Memory configurations vary by market. Confirm the actual RAM and storage SKU with the seller. If a listing advertises a combined figure such as “up to 24GB RAM,” check whether it includes virtual memory allocated from storage; that is not the same as having that amount of physical RAM.

Gaming features beyond the extra chip
Infinix positions the phone as a gaming device through a collection of software and hardware features. The company lists Esports Mode to suppress interruptions, a stable frame-rate engine, phase-change material, a larger graphite sheet and vapor-chamber cooling. It also advertises a 120fps experience in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang for up to 60 minutes and an FPS variation figure of 3.5 in its presentation. These are Infinix claims, not independent test results; actual behavior varies with game version, settings, firmware, ambient temperature and device condition. Infinix describes its gaming and cooling features on the product page.

Cameras
The rear system pairs a 108MP OIS main camera with two 2MP auxiliary cameras; the front camera is 32MP. Optical image stabilization is a useful feature on the main camera, but the headline resolution does not establish flagship image quality. The two low-resolution auxiliary cameras make this a less versatile setup than a phone with a capable ultrawide or telephoto camera.
Connectivity, protection and audio
Reported features include NFC, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, GPS, USB-C, an IR blaster and an in-display fingerprint reader, alongside 5G dual-SIM support on the global product page. Availability of particular features, bands and SIM configurations can vary by market, so verify the precise regional model. The IP54 rating indicates limited dust protection and resistance to splashes; it is not a waterproof rating. JBL branding identifies the dual-speaker tuning partnership, but does not by itself establish audio performance.
Software support: what was promised at launch
The GT 20 Pro shipped with Android 14-based XOS 14. Infinix’s launch support commitment was two major Android upgrades and three years of security patches. That is the announced policy, not confirmation that every regional unit has received every update. As of 2026, check the phone’s current Android/XOS version and the remaining security-update period for the exact country and model before buying. Infinix’s product page lists the launch software and support commitment.
Who should consider the GT 20 Pro?
It may suit gaming-first buyers
The strongest case is for someone who wants a large high-refresh AMOLED screen, Dimensity 8200-class hardware, gaming-oriented cooling and controls, bypass charging, and Pixelworks processing for compatible games. It is most compelling when its current local price is competitive with newer phones offering similar performance and warranty coverage.

What to check before buying in 2026
- Confirm the exact RAM and storage configuration on the box or seller listing.
- Check whether the package includes the 45W charger in your country.
- Verify local 5G-band compatibility, NFC and other connectivity features for the specific model.
- Confirm that the seller provides authorized warranty and service coverage where you live.
- Check the current Android/XOS version and the security-support status for your region.
- For a particular game, verify support for the Pixelworks mode and whether its frame rate is native or interpolated.
- Establish whether the handset is a local model or an import, and review return terms, especially for gray-market or refurbished stock.
