Acer announced two Nitro gaming desktops at IFA 2025, but the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and GeForce RTX 5090 headline applies to the Nitro 70, not both PCs. The Nitro 50’s announced ceiling is a Ryzen 7 8700G and RTX 5080. Acer gave the Nitro 70 an EMEA launch window of December 2025 and a starting price of €1,999; that is not a U.S. price or a guarantee that the maximum configuration ships in every region.
Two desktops, two different performance ceilings
Acer announced the Nitro 70 N70X3D-100 and Nitro 50 N50-100 on September 3, 2025, as part of its IFA 2025 product announcements in Berlin. Both are Windows 11 Home gaming desktops, but the Nitro 70 is the higher-end system. Acer’s announcement and specification tables give these maximum configurations:

These are ceilings, not a promise that every box contains every top-end part. Acer says configurations, prices and availability can vary by region. Treat phrases such as “up to 128GB” and “up to 2TB SSD and 4TB HDD” as configuration options, not guaranteed standard equipment. Check the exact SKU and component list on the listing before buying.

Nitro 70: Acer’s flagship Nitro desktop in this announcement
The Nitro 70 is the model that can be configured with the 16-core, 32-thread Ryzen 9 9950X3D and RTX 5090. Acer’s product page lists the processor with boost speeds up to 5.7GHz and describes an RTX 5090 configuration with 32GB of GDDR7. Those are specifications for the stated configuration, not independent gaming or workload test results. Acer also lists 3,352 AI TOPS for the graphics configuration; TOPS is an AI-performance metric and should not be read as a frame-rate estimate or a direct measure of performance in a particular game.

Acer pairs the Nitro 70’s components with a 360mm CPU liquid cooler and its CycloneX 360 airflow design. The company claims the cooling system can provide up to 15% more airflow; its product page also claims up to a 9°C reduction in motherboard power-component temperatures. Those are Acer’s claims, not independently measured results. No noise level, sustained thermal test or real-game benchmark is established by the launch specifications.
The 45-liter chassis is substantial: Acer lists the Nitro 70 at about 23.75kg. Its announced expansion includes two M.2 SSD slots, two 3.5-inch drive bays, one PCIe x16 slot and one PCIe x1 slot. The 1200W supply is part of the listed maximum specification, but the announcement does not identify its exact model or establish how much flexibility a buyer has to replace it or upgrade other components.

Nitro 50: an RTX 5080-class option, not a smaller RTX 5090 system
The announced AMD Nitro 50 N50-100 tops out at a Ryzen 7 8700G and GeForce RTX 5080. It has the same listed 45-liter chassis volume as the Nitro 70, and shares features including Windows 11 Home, Wi-Fi 7, 2.5Gb Ethernet, RGB memory, PCIe SSD storage, ARGB lighting and CycloneX 360 cooling. Its listed power supply is 850W, and its maximum memory speed is DDR5-5200 rather than the Nitro 70’s DDR5-6000.

The two product names therefore do not indicate a simple size difference: the CPU, GPU, memory specification, cooling details and power supply all differ. The Nitro 50 may suit someone targeting the RTX 5080 tier, but whether it is a better buy depends on the actual retail configuration and price.

Cooling, connectivity and materials
Acer lists Wi-Fi 7 and Realtek 8125BG 2.5Gb Ethernet for both desktops, along with USB Type-A and Type-C, HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort outputs. Wi-Fi 7 is a capability, not a promise of a particular household speed: results depend on compatible networking equipment, configuration, interference and local spectrum conditions.
Both systems have tempered-glass panels and customizable ARGB lighting. Acer also says the chassis plastic contains 65% post-consumer recycled material. That figure applies to the stated plastic material, not 65% of the entire computer, and by itself does not establish the PCs’ overall environmental impact, repairability or useful upgrade life.

Price and availability: the U.S. picture is not settled by the announcement
Acer’s September 2025 announcement specified a Nitro 70 EMEA launch in December 2025, starting at €1,999. It did not give a matching universal launch price for the Nitro 50 in the cited material. The euro price is a regional launch price, not a current U.S. MSRP; converting it directly into dollars would not establish U.S. pricing.
Acer has a U.S. Nitro 70 product page, but the page information available for this article does not establish a current U.S. price or a clearly purchasable configuration. The U.S. Nitro 50 page is titled “Acer Nitro 50 | Intel Gaming Desktop,” so it should not be treated as proof that the AMD N50-100 announced at IFA is sold in the United States. Acer’s regional product-page disclaimer likewise warns that specifications and availability vary by model and region.

What the launch specifications do not tell you
Acer announced component tiers and headline features, not enough information to evaluate every retail configuration. The launch material does not establish the exact RTX 5090 board design, its cooler dimensions or noise, sustained power limits, measured gaming performance, or the specific motherboard and power-supply models. Nor does it fully document upgrade restrictions, clearances or whether every listed expansion option remains available in a given configuration. Acer’s “overclockable” language should not be taken as a guarantee of unrestricted tuning; firmware, cooling, the specific SKU and warranty terms matter.
For buyers, the sensible check is the product number and complete seller listing—not just “Nitro 70” or “Nitro 50.” Confirm the processor and exact GPU, installed RAM and speed, whether storage includes an HDD as well as an SSD, the power supply, warranty and return terms. If quiet operation, measured thermals or component-level upgrade flexibility are priorities, seek independent testing and detailed model documentation before committing. A custom-built system may offer more control, but Acer’s announcement alone cannot establish which option costs less or performs better.
Who should consider each desktop?
- Nitro 70: the relevant choice for buyers seeking Acer’s announced Ryzen 9 9950X3D/RTX 5090 maximum configuration, a 1200W supply and additional CPU liquid cooling—and who are comfortable with a large, heavy tower. Verify the exact retail SKU, especially if buying outside EMEA.
- Nitro 50: consider it if an RTX 5080-class system meets your needs and the specific AMD N50-100 is actually offered in your market at a price you find compelling. Do not assume that its name means it can be configured like the Nitro 70.
- Another prebuilt or a custom build: compare alternatives if exact parts, independent acoustic and thermal results, or documented upgrade options matter more than buying within Acer’s Nitro line.
The central distinction is straightforward: Acer announced the Nitro 70 as the model that can reach Ryzen 9 9950X3D and RTX 5090. The Nitro 50 is a separate, lower-tier system with a Ryzen 7 8700G and RTX 5080 ceiling. Regional model names and “up to” specifications make the complete SKU essential to any purchase decision.
