You can no longer sign up for the original U.S. Nintendo Switch 2 Experience. Nintendo’s free registration drawing ran from January 17 through January 26, 2025, and the events in New York, Los Angeles, and Dallas took place in April 2025. Registration and waitlist access are now closed, and there was no walk-up admission.
What happened to the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience signup?
The Nintendo Switch 2 Experience was a limited, ticketed, hands-on event where consumers could try Nintendo Switch 2 before its release. Nintendo announced Experience events in several countries, but the rules varied by region. The information below covers the 2025 U.S. events only.

The original registration window was January 17, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time through January 26, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. local time for each location. Nintendo’s official FAQ states that registration and waitlist access are closed.

Do not travel to one of the former venues expecting admission. Tickets were required, and Nintendo did not offer walk-up tickets.

How signup worked when registration was open
The historical U.S. process was:
- Create a Nintendo Account, if necessary.
- Open the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience page.
- Sign in to the Nintendo Account.
- Choose one U.S. location.
- Select an available session.
- Complete and submit the registration form.
- If applying as a group, add the other eligible attendees from the same Nintendo Account Family group.
- Wait for Nintendo’s drawing-result email.
Applicants had approximately 10 minutes to complete the form. Creating accounts and setting up a Family group in advance was therefore important. Registration was free, but submitting a form did not guarantee a ticket.
Who was eligible under the 2025 U.S. rules?
For the 2025 U.S. drawing, an applicant had to:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Reside in one of the 50 United States.
- Have a Nintendo Account.
- Submit only one registration.
- Select one location and one session.
Nintendo employees, certain affiliated companies, agencies, advisers, and their immediate families or household members were excluded under the official terms. These were the rules for the 2025 U.S. event, not universal requirements for every future Nintendo event.
Could families and groups register together?
Yes. One registrant could apply for themselves and up to five additional guests, making a maximum group of six. Every additional attendee needed a Nintendo Account linked to the same Nintendo Account Family group. Family-group management was available through Nintendo Account settings.

- A group registration created one group entry, not a separate drawing chance for every person.
- Adult Family group members might need to accept the event terms themselves.
- You could not simply enter an unrelated friend’s information without meeting the Family group requirements.
If you wanted to bring a friend, that person generally needed their own Nintendo Account and had to be linked appropriately before registration.
What did children need?
The 2025 U.S. rules treated children differently by age:
- Ages 7–17: Required an event ticket and generally a Nintendo Account. They could be included through a parent or guardian’s Nintendo Account Family group.
- Ages 6 and under: Did not need an individual ticket or Nintendo Account, but had to attend with a parent or legal guardian who held a valid ticket.
Minors had to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with a ticket for the same session. It is therefore inaccurate to say that all children could attend without tickets.

How did the ticket drawing work?
Nintendo selected applicants through a random drawing on or around January 27, 2025. All eligible registrations had an equal chance regardless of when they were submitted during the open registration period. Applying on the first day did not improve drawing odds.

The number of entries determined the chance of selection for a particular session. Under the U.S. terms, Nintendo planned to select at least 180 attendees for sessions A–D and at least 90 attendees for session E. Those figures were minimum selections for the named sessions, not necessarily the total capacity of the event.
Selected applicants received digital tickets by email, generally containing QR codes. Individual notifications went to the email associated with that person’s Nintendo Account. For a group, the message went to the registering person’s email.

What was the waitlist?
The waitlist was separate from the random drawing. Not every unsuccessful drawing entrant was automatically placed on it.
- Waitlist access was first-come, first-served.
- Applicants could join individually or as a Family group of up to six.
- A group offer covered the same number of tickets originally requested.
- Nintendo did not promise to split a six-person group into smaller offers.
- A waitlist offer had to be claimed within 36 hours of the notification email.
- Changing from an individual waitlist entry to a Family-group entry could move the applicant to the back of the queue.
This created two different systems: the drawing was random, while waitlist position depended on how early someone joined.

A ticket was digital, included a QR code, and was valid only for the specified location, date, and session. It was required for admission, intended for one-time use, and led to an event wristband at check-in. Attendees were advised to arrive up to 15 minutes early. Late arrivals might not be admitted, and the expected gameplay experience was approximately two hours and 20 minutes.

Tickets were nontransferable. Nintendo warned that tickets obtained from sources other than Nintendo might not be authentic and did not provide an official resale route. Do not pay a third party for an old 2025 ticket, rely on a screenshot of someone else’s QR code, or assume a resale marketplace can make the ticket valid.
If you missed the drawing or never received an email
Once registration closed, you could not submit a new entry for the original drawing. If you were checking for a historical notification, use this checklist:
- Check the email address connected to your Nintendo Account.
- Search spam, junk, and promotions folders.
- Search for Nintendo or
[email protected]. - Confirm whether the message concerned the drawing, a ticket, or a waitlist offer.
For safety, navigate to Nintendo’s official website independently instead of entering account credentials through a suspicious email. Be particularly wary of messages requesting payment for a ticket or asking for Nintendo login details.

Use the new, location-specific Nintendo event page and read its terms carefully. A future Switch 2 Experience could have different countries, dates, age limits, account requirements, group rules, or ticketing methods. Do not assume that the 2025 U.S. rules—or old registration links—will apply.
For background on the event concept, see Nintendo’s corporate announcement. Regional pages for places such as the U.K. and Australia used their own rules, so U.S. residency and eligibility requirements should not be applied to events in other countries.
