“I can’t play Candy Crush” can mean several different problems: the app may crash, freeze, reject a login, show a false “no internet connection” message, fail to load a level, lose apparent progress, or simply have no new levels available. The safest fix is to check for a known King issue, protect your account, update the game and device, restart everything, test the connection, and only then try platform-specific repairs.
Do not delete or reinstall Candy Crush before confirming that your progress is synchronized to the correct King or Facebook account. Unsynchronized progress, boosters, Gold Bars, and Win Streak data may not be recoverable.

First, identify what “can’t play” means
| What you see | Likely cause | Best first action |
|---|---|---|
| The app closes immediately | Bug, corrupted temporary files, low storage, incompatible operating system, or a bad update | Update Candy Crush and your device, restart, then free storage |
| The game freezes before a level | Temporary game bug, connection problem, low storage, or a King-side issue | Fully close the game, restart the device, and check for updates |
| The Play button does nothing | Stalled session, interface bug, or known issue | Restart and check King’s ongoing-issues page |
| “No internet connection” appears | Network handshake, account, Facebook, store, ad-service, or server problem | Try another network and reconnect the correct account |
| Login fails | Facebook or King authentication trouble, or the wrong account | Sign out and use the original login method |
| Your map starts at level one | Wrong King, Facebook, Apple, or guest profile | Stop troubleshooting and verify the original account |
| No new levels appear | End of current content, missing update, or an incomplete earlier level | Update the game and check that earlier levels have at least one star |
| The store or ads do not load | Connection, platform, purchase, advertising, or server issue | Avoid repeated purchases, retry later, and contact support if charged |
King’s Latest News & Ongoing Issues page separates reports by platform and has listed investigations involving freezes and an unresponsive Play button.

- Check King’s official issue notices. If multiple players cannot load levels, log in, buy items, view ads, or use Facebook at the same time, the problem may be on King’s side.
- Confirm the account. If the game opens, use My Account, Profile, or Save My Progress beneath the Play button. Check the email address, login provider, visible level, and User ID.
- Update Candy Crush. Open the official app store directly and install the newest update available for your device.
- Update the operating system. King’s current guidance, checked against its support documentation, lists iOS 15 or later and Android 5 or later as minimum requirements. These requirements can change.
- Fully close and reopen the game. Remove it from the recent-apps or app-switcher screen rather than merely leaving it in the background.
- Restart the device. This can clear a stalled session and temporary memory problem.
- Check the connection and storage. Try Wi-Fi and cellular data separately, and free space if the device is nearly full.
- Use the platform-specific steps below.
- Contact King Player Support if the fault survives these tests or involves lost progress, purchases, or account access.
Before deleting or reinstalling Candy Crush
Logging in to a King or Facebook profile is what lets progress synchronize across devices and gives support a way to locate your player profile. King warns that progress played offline or without synchronization may not be recoverable. See why King recommends logging in.

Before any destructive step:
- Sign in using the account originally used for Candy Crush.
- Check whether your level and other account-linked data are visible.
- Record the User ID if the game provides it.
- Take screenshots of your level, Gold Bars, boosters, or Win Streak if anything is missing.
- Do not assume that reinstalling will restore locally stored boosters or streak data.
King has specifically warned players not to reinstall during some missing-progress investigations because boosters and Win Streak data could be at risk. Reinstall only after synchronization is confirmed and less destructive fixes have failed.
Fix crashes, freezing, and lag
Start with the general sequence: close Candy Crush completely, restart the device, update the game, check the connection, and free storage. King lists these steps for freezing problems, while noting that troubleshooting cannot guarantee a fix for every known issue.
Check for a bad or incomplete update
A recent King Community notice documented crashes and freezing after version 1.327.0.1, followed by a fix rollout through the iOS and Android stores. That does not mean the same version is current for every reader, region, or device. Check the store for the newest available version and read King’s current issue notices rather than relying on an old version number.
Recommended Free Tools
An update can contain a fix, but a newly released version can also introduce a regression. If the problem began immediately after updating, note the version and date when contacting support.
Free storage and restart
Low storage can contribute to failed updates, freezing, and crashes. Remove or offload unused apps and large media, restart the device, and try Candy Crush again. Avoid clearing data or reinstalling merely because the game is slow.
“No internet connection” when other apps work
This message does not prove that the device is offline. Candy Crush may be unable to complete a connection to King, Facebook, the app store, or an advertising service even while web browsing and other apps work normally.

- Toggle Wi-Fi off and on.
- Try cellular data or a different Wi-Fi network.
- Restart Candy Crush and the device.
- Install any available game update.
- Confirm that the intended King or Facebook account is connected.
- Check King’s ongoing-issues page and search the King Community for the exact error.
If Candy Crush works on another network, investigate the original Wi-Fi, DNS filtering, firewall, VPN, or network restrictions. If the same account fails on several networks and devices, suspect an account or service problem instead. Community reports have documented connection errors that affected Candy Crush even when other internet services worked, so do not automatically blame your internet connection.
Platform-specific fixes
iPhone and iPad
- Force-close Candy Crush.
- Restart the iPhone or iPad.
- Open App Store → account/profile icon and install the available Candy Crush update.
- Open Settings → General → Software Update and update iOS or iPadOS if available.
- Check free space in Settings → General → iPhone/iPad Storage.
- Test Wi-Fi and cellular data separately.
- Only after confirming synchronization, consider Settings → General → iPhone/iPad Storage → Candy Crush → Offload App.
- Reinstall only as a last resort, using the original King or Facebook credentials.
Menu labels can vary by iOS or iPadOS release. Offloading is not a promise that every locally held booster or streak will return; synchronized account data is the part intended to be recoverable.
Android phones and tablets
- Force-stop or close Candy Crush.
- Restart the device.
- Update the game through Google Play Store → profile icon → Manage apps & device.
- Install any available Android update.
- Check storage.
- Try Settings → Apps → Candy Crush Saga → Storage → Clear cache.
- Reopen the game and sign in to the correct account.
Clear cache is not the same as Clear data or Clear storage. Clearing cache removes temporary files and is the safer test. Clearing data may remove local app information and require you to sign in again, so do not use it casually when account synchronization is uncertain. Android menu names vary by manufacturer.
Facebook in a browser
For Facebook play, refresh Facebook, sign out and back in, use a current desktop browser, temporarily disable extensions or content blockers for testing, and try another browser. Facebook recommends trying another game to establish whether the problem affects Facebook games generally or only Candy Crush.
Also check Facebook’s social-gaming setting. King says that choosing Facebook’s non-social gaming option can prevent Candy Crush from running on Facebook or connecting to the game. On a desktop, King’s stated recovery path is:
- Open Facebook settings.
- Next to Gaming, choose Update.
- Select Get started.
- Choose Switch to social gaming.
- Select Confirm, then Done.
Use King’s Facebook and social-gaming guidance if the labels differ.

Windows or desktop play
- Update the Windows version through Microsoft Store → Library → Get updates.
- Try the Facebook browser version if the Windows app fails.
- Try the mobile app if the account is synchronized.
- Compare whether the failure occurs only on desktop.
Mobile and desktop versions do not necessarily receive updates at the same time. King says releases can arrive on different days and at different times, so a fix or new levels may appear on one platform first.
Amazon devices
Check for Candy Crush updates in Amazon Appstore → updates, restart the device, verify storage and connectivity, and confirm that the account is synchronized before considering reinstallation. If the same account works on another supported platform, the Amazon installation or platform is more likely to be the problem.
Missing progress, Gold Bars, boosters, or a level-one map
First rule out an account mismatch. Check:
- The email address used for the King account.
- Whether the original game was connected through King, Facebook, Apple, or guest play.
- The correct Facebook profile.
- That you opened Candy Crush Saga, not Candy Crush Soda, Friends, or another King title.
- Whether you are online and connected before reinstalling.
Apple sign-in can create a separate Candy Crush account from an existing King or Facebook account. King’s guidance for players who signed in with Apple and appear to have lost progress is to sign out of Apple and sign back in using the original King or Facebook account. See King’s Apple sign-in support article.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf progress, Gold Bars, boosters, or a Win Streak is still missing after reconnecting to the original account, stop switching accounts and contact support. Repeated reinstallations can make it harder to determine which local state was associated with the profile.

No new levels appear
A map with no new levels does not necessarily indicate a broken game. King identifies several possibilities:
- You reached the current end of available content.
- The game needs an update.
- An earlier level has not been passed with at least one star.
- Your platform has not yet received the same content update as another platform.
Check the store, review earlier levels, and look for an end-of-content indication. Distinguish “the map has ended” from “a level will not load.” The first may be normal; the second is a technical fault.

The lives timer looks wrong
Changing the device’s date or time zone can affect the next-life timer. King publishes a workaround that involves checking the displayed wait time, temporarily adjusting the clock, returning to the map, restoring the correct date and time, and restarting the device.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Use that procedure only for a timer issue, and follow King’s instructions carefully. Restore automatic date and time immediately because clock changes can affect other apps and services. Do not use clock manipulation to troubleshoot crashes, login failures, or missing progress.
Events, lives, or messages are missing
Refresh the connection and retry. Messages from friends can be delayed by network problems, high message traffic, social-network status, or account disconnection. A limited-time event may disappear because its timer expired, the player disconnected, or King removed it because of a technical issue. King documents these possibilities in its guidance on missing messages and disappearing events.
Could Candy Crush be down?
There is no reliable basis for declaring a universal outage without a contemporaneous official notice. Use comparisons to narrow it down:
- Several players and platforms fail: suspect a King-side incident.
- Mobile works but Facebook or Windows fails: suspect a platform-specific problem.
- Only one device fails: suspect the device, installation, storage, or network.
- The same account fails everywhere: suspect the account or a service-side problem.
King Community notices have recorded temporary issues affecting installation, level play, purchases, the store, ads, login, and Facebook loading. Those incidents were later marked solved after server-side work. That history shows why reinstalling is not automatically the answer, but it does not prove that Candy Crush is down now.
When to contact King Player Support
Contact support when the game still fails after updating, restarting, and testing another connection; when the same account fails on multiple supported platforms; when one level repeatedly freezes; when the issue began after an update; or when progress, Gold Bars, boosters, or a purchase is missing. If you were charged but did not receive an item, avoid making the purchase again and include the receipt or transaction ID.
Prepare this information:
- Device model
- Operating-system version
- Candy Crush version
- Platform: iOS, Android, Facebook, Windows, or Amazon
- Exact error text
- Date and approximate time of the failure
- Whether it occurs on Wi-Fi, cellular data, or both
- King, Facebook, Apple, or guest login method
- User ID
- Screenshots or a short screen recording
- Purchase receipt or transaction ID, if relevant
In the game, open Settings → Help when available. King’s current settings documentation says this area may show the User ID, a Copy ID button, Help Center access, and support tools, although labels and availability can vary by rollout. See King’s Settings guide.
Quick Recap
A quick decision tree
- Does Candy Crush fail everywhere? Check King’s official incident notices, verify the account, and contact support if the issue persists.
- Does it fail on only one device? Update, restart, free storage, and use the platform-specific repair steps.
- Does it work on another network? Investigate Wi-Fi, DNS, VPN, filtering, or network restrictions.
- Does the map start at level one? Stop and verify the original King, Facebook, Apple, or guest account.
- Are there no new levels but completed content? Check for an end-of-content message, a pending update, and incomplete earlier levels.
