The nine Best Buy deals behind this headline were part of the Memorial Day 2025 promotion, which ended May 26, 2025. They are no longer current prices as of September 14, 2026. For readers shopping now, the newer RTX 50-series alternatives observed during Best Buy’s 2026 Memorial Day promotions are included below, with a clear warning that prices, inventory, sellers, and fulfillment can change.
The strongest historical budget pick was the ASUS TUF Gaming A16 at $799, while the MSI Stealth 16 AI was the most compelling 2025 option for RTX 4070 performance. In the 2026 snapshot, the Lenovo LOQ stood out below $800, the ASUS TUF A16 offered strong RTX 5070 value around $1,500, and OLED-equipped RTX 5070 Ti systems targeted buyers willing to spend more on image quality and performance. These are value judgments based on configuration and price—not simply the largest advertised discount.
What happened to the original Memorial Day deals?
The source list was published on May 23, 2025, and stated that the promotion ran through May 26. Its prices should therefore be treated as historical: Best Buy’s displayed “was” price was a comparison price, not necessarily an independently verified recent selling price or manufacturer MSRP.

Best under $800: ASUS TUF Gaming A16
At the historical $799 price, the TUF A16 offered 16GB of memory, a 165Hz 1920×1200 panel, and an RX 7700S—an unusually strong combination for conventional rasterized gaming at this budget. It was a better long-term starting point than the $599 Victus because the HP’s 8GB RAM could require an immediate upgrade.
Choose the TUF if your priority is standard 1080p or 1200p gaming. Choose an Nvidia laptop instead if ray tracing, DLSS, CUDA-dependent creator applications, or broad software compatibility matters more than raster performance.

The Cyborg paired a compact 14-inch chassis with an RTX 4060 and 16GB RAM. That made it attractive for students and commuters who still wanted a genuinely capable gaming GPU. The trade-off is physical: smaller gaming laptops have less room for cooling, so the same RTX 4060 name does not guarantee the same sustained performance as a larger machine.

Buy it for portability, not maximum quietness or desktop-replacement performance. Check the panel’s brightness, the number of RAM slots, and available M.2 storage before purchase.
Best 1080p esports choice: Dell G15
The 360Hz display was most relevant to competitive games where a high frame rate is realistic. It was less meaningful for demanding cinematic games that may not approach 360 frames per second at native resolution. The Core i7-13650HX, RTX 4060, and 1TB SSD made this the most complete 2025 configuration in the table for fast-paced 1080p play.
Tom’s Hardware observations cited in the original coverage praised performance and the display but noted heat and a very large power brick. Those are attributed third-party observations, not hands-on findings here.

The Cyborg was cheaper and more portable. The Nitro’s larger 15.6-inch chassis was the more conventional choice for sustained gaming, but the original deal report contained an inconsistent claim about its VRAM. Do not rely on a generic Nitro family specification: verify the exact Best Buy SKU and manufacturer listing before buying.

Neither model should be judged by “RTX 4060” alone. Laptop GPU power limits, cooling, firmware tuning, and the display resolution can create meaningful differences between otherwise similar systems. If Best Buy does not clearly identify the wattage or TGP, treat performance comparisons as uncertain.
Best creator-friendly 2025 option: MSI Stealth 14 AI Studio
The Stealth 14 combined an RTX 4060, 1TB SSD, and a 14-inch 1920×1200 165Hz display with Intel’s Core Ultra 7 155H and AI Boost NPU. The NPU is a secondary productivity feature; it should not be treated as a proven gaming-performance advantage.
It made sense for buyers who wanted a relatively portable laptop for games and creator applications. A larger laptop is preferable if long gaming sessions, lower fan noise, or maximum sustained GPU performance are more important.
Best high-end 2025 deal: MSI Stealth 16 AI
The historical $1,599 price bought an RTX 4070, 32GB RAM, and a 16-inch 1920×1200 165Hz screen. That balance made it the strongest overall recommendation from the original nine, though the description that it was the cheapest RTX 4070 model should be understood only within that 2025 list and sale snapshot.

Its 32GB memory was a meaningful advantage for multitasking and content creation. The 1920×1200 resolution also placed a more reasonable load on the GPU than a 1600p or 4K panel.
Best large-screen option: Gigabyte Aorus 17
The Aorus 17 paired a 17.3-inch 1440p panel with a 240Hz refresh rate and RTX 4070. It suited buyers who mostly use a laptop at a desk and want more screen area. It was a poor fit for frequent travel because large gaming laptops generally require a heavier charger and occupy more space.
At 1440p, the RTX 4070’s 8GB VRAM and the laptop’s GPU wattage matter more than the refresh-rate headline. Verify both before assuming the panel can drive demanding games at 240Hz.

Best display-and-CPU combination: ASUS ROG Strix G16
The Strix G16 offered a Core i9-14900HX, RTX 4070, 32GB RAM, and a 2560×1600 240Hz panel with Dolby Vision and G-Sync. It was aimed at buyers who wanted a premium high-resolution display and substantial CPU headroom, not shoppers seeking the lowest cost per frame.

- Below $800: The LOQ is an entry-level choice. RTX 4050 hardware is sensible for 1080p gaming, but 512GB fills quickly and it is not a high-refresh AAA machine at native settings.
- Around $1,400: The Alienware’s 32GB RAM and 1TB storage are attractive, but compare its RTX 5060 configuration against cheaper or similarly priced RTX 5070 systems.
- Around $1,500: The TUF A16 is the performance-led option. The Legion Pro 5 is the display-led option with OLED contrast and response, but its RTX 5060 is a lower GPU tier.
- Around $1,850–$2,250: The Helios Neo and Zephyrus G16 both target RTX 5070 Ti buyers. Favor the Zephyrus when portability matters; favor the Acer only after confirming its cooling, weight, brightness, and power configuration.

Gaming-laptop deal checklist
- Confirm the exact SKU. GPU names, RAM, VRAM, display panels, and storage can differ within one product family.
- Find the GPU power limit. An RTX 4060 or RTX 5070 is not a complete performance specification without its wattage, cooling design, and tuning.
- Match the screen to the GPU. RTX 4050 systems are primarily 1080p machines; higher resolutions and 240Hz refresh rates need suitably powerful hardware and appropriate game settings.
- Prefer 16GB RAM minimum. Treat 8GB as an upgrade requirement. Prefer 32GB when the price difference is modest, especially for content creation or heavy multitasking.
- Check storage expansion. A 512GB SSD is entry-level. Confirm whether there is a second M.2 slot before assuming an inexpensive upgrade is possible.
- Evaluate OLED realistically. OLED brings excellent contrast and response, but compare brightness, resolution, pixel layout, static-image use, and price. It is not automatically the best choice for every gamer.
- Check platform features. Nvidia’s DLSS and ray-tracing ecosystem may matter more than AMD’s raster-value advantage for some games and creator applications. Also look for a MUX switch or Advanced Optimus, useful display outputs, Wi-Fi standard, and USB-C charging support.
- Check the seller and returns. Best Buy search results may include marketplace inventory. Confirm whether Best Buy or a third party sells and ships the laptop, then review warranty and return eligibility.
- Recheck the checkout total. Membership requirements, coupons, shipping, store pickup, stock, and promotional labels can change. A “save $X” label normally means saving against Best Buy’s displayed comparison price.
Where to check Best Buy’s live inventory
For any renewed promotion or replacement deal, start with Best Buy’s on-sale gaming-laptop listings. Record the exact model number, seller, price, stock status, and timestamp before publishing or purchasing. Category pages can show stale labels or future pickup dates, so the product page and checkout screen are the final authority.
Because the 2025 and 2026 Memorial Day promotions have ended, do not use the historical prices above as active purchase links or assume the same discount will return.
