ASUS’s holographic gaming desktop is real, but its official global name is the ROG G1000 (2026), model GM1000. “ROG Strix G10X” appears in regional and secondary coverage. The centerpiece is AniMe Holo: three fan-based display modules built into a 104-liter tower. ASUS pairs the visual system with flagship hardware support and elaborate cooling, but price, retail availability, noise, performance and repairability remain important unknowns.
In short: this is a high-end prebuilt designed as much to be a visual centerpiece as a gaming PC. The unusual display does not itself improve frame rates, and the available specifications do not establish that the system is faster, quieter or better value than a conventional flagship desktop.
What is the ROG G1000?
ASUS introduced the G1000 at CES 2026 as an ultra-tower gaming desktop. Its official global product page calls it the ROG G1000 (2026) GM1000; the G10X name is associated with regional reporting, particularly coverage of its China-market presentation. Treat the names as related, but check the exact model and configuration offered in your country rather than assuming every listing describes an identical SKU.

ASUS later announced a limited-edition G1000 Edition 20 at Computex 2026; that should be considered a separate variant, not automatically the same configuration as the standard G1000. What “holographic” means here
The G1000’s AniMe Holo system consists of three X-shaped fan/display modules integrated into the chassis. They are designed to show customizable animated visuals while leaving the internal components visible. ASUS calls the effect holographic and describes the system as the first prebuilt gaming PC to integrate a holographic fan system; that “first” claim is ASUS’s, not an independently audited award.
For buyers, the useful distinction is that this is fan-based display hardware creating a holographic-looking visual effect—not evidence of a free-floating, room-scale volumetric hologram. Public product material confirms customization, but does not spell out the complete content-creation workflow or establish which app controls it. Viewing angle, readability in a lit room, behavior when the fans stop, and how well animations show from a typical seated position also need hands-on verification. These are platform capabilities and published configuration options, not a promise that one machine ships with every listed component. ASUS’s global product page and CES release are useful starting points, but the local listing and SKU should decide what you are actually buying.
Cooling architecture and the 104-liter case
ASUS describes a ROG Thermal Atrium, a dedicated CPU cooling chamber with a 420 mm AIO, and a Tri-Zone layout separating the CPU, graphics-card/motherboard area and power supply into distinct thermal domains. The AniMe Holo modules also have dedicated space, which ASUS says is intended to keep their operation from disrupting the main airflow path and to limit vibration or noise intrusion. A Fan Key provides one-touch access to a thermal-boost or enhanced-cooling mode. These are design features and manufacturer claims—not substitutes for independent testing.

For the G1000 Edition 20 announcement, ASUS says the system can dissipate up to 1,000 W of TDP across three thermal domains. That figure is an ASUS claim tied to that announcement; TDP is not the same as measured gaming power draw, nor proof of a particular sustained performance level. A 420 mm radiator and separated zones may give the system room to manage heat, but do not alone prove lower temperatures or quieter operation than a well-built conventional desktop. No independent thermal, acoustic or power measurements are established in the available material. ASUS’s CES product overview outlines the thermal design and Fan Key.
The scale is both an engineering opportunity and a practical cost. A large case can make room for substantial components and potentially ease access, but 104 liters is difficult to place, move or conceal under a desk. Volume alone does not guarantee straightforward upgrades: check GPU clearance, motherboard and power-supply standards, cable routing, fan dimensions, connectors and any firmware or warranty restrictions. The display modules add components that a normal tower does not have, so their replacement parts and service process matter too.

What remains unknown before buying
- Price and availability: The official pages reviewed establish the product, but not a clear universal U.S. retail price or broad purchase availability. Confirm a country-specific listing and exact SKU; do not rely on an estimated price as though ASUS had announced it.
- Real gaming performance: Component ceilings suggest a high-end platform, but no matched independent benchmark evidence here establishes how it performs against other RTX 5090-class desktops.
- Noise and temperatures: Chamber separation and a large AIO are design rationale, not measured results. Ask for independent testing of acoustics and sustained workloads.
- Display behavior: The sources do not settle viewing angles, ambient-light legibility, fan-stopped behavior or animation setup. See the effect in person if it is central to your decision.
- Service and software: Verify whether the AniMe Holo units use standard dimensions or proprietary connectors, how they are covered under warranty, and which software controls their content.
- Power and upgrades: Confirm the PSU capacity and connector setup for the specific configuration, as well as what components can be replaced without affecting support.
Who should consider it?
The G1000 makes the most sense for someone who wants a distinctive showcase PC, values integrated visuals, has space for a full-size tower and prefers a factory-built system. The appeal is the combination of the display system, chassis engineering and flagship component support—not a demonstrated performance advantage from the holographic fans.
A performance-first buyer focused on price-to-frame-rate, compactness, quiet operation or frequent component swaps should compare conventional desktops and custom builds first. A custom system offers more control over the case, motherboard, cooling, power supply and acoustics, and can add an LCD or other display effect, but involves more assembly and troubleshooting. Boutique prebuilts may offer transparent component choices, configuration options and support; they generally will not reproduce this integrated visual design. A standard ROG desktop may be easier to justify if the priority is gaming hardware rather than AniMe Holo. For any alternative, compare like-for-like components and warranty terms rather than assuming the G1000 is faster, quieter or better value.

Bottom line
The ROG G1000 is an intriguing attempt to make the gaming tower itself a programmable visual feature while retaining serious cooling and high-end hardware support. But the G10X/G1000 naming, regional configurations and conflicting storage figures make SKU verification essential. Until price, availability, repair details and independent performance, thermal and noise testing are clear, it is best viewed as a visually ambitious halo prebuilt—not a proven upgrade over a conventional flagship gaming PC.
