Short answer: Nixxes released several Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC updates in February 2025. They fixed specific crash triggers, improved AMD Radeon stability by temporarily removing Anti-Lag 2, corrected ray-tracing and DLSS Ray Reconstruction problems, and added targeted optimizations. They did not promise a universal frame-rate increase or eliminate every crash on every PC.
February was a series of PC updates, not one patch
Calling this “the February update” hides an important detail: the PC version received a hotfix followed by multiple numbered patches.

Which crash problems were addressed?
General stability
Nixxes listed various crash fixes based on player reports and crash-reporting data. That wording means known failure paths were reduced, not that every hardware, driver, mod, or save-specific crash was identified.

Named crash scenarios
- Patch 2 fixed a crash in the final Mysterio mission when Miles was wearing the Bodega Cat Suit.
- It also fixed a crash caused by closing the menu while an audio fragment was playing.
- The February 3 hotfix corrected a frame-rate-related blocker in “Show Me New York.”
- Patch 1 added screenshot support to crash reports, giving Nixxes more information about where failures occurred.
Achievements and saves
The hotfix repaired an achievement-awarding problem; affected achievements were expected to unlock retroactively after updating and loading a save. Patch 1 added backup autosaves at key story points. Those backups reduce future progress loss but do not automatically repair an already corrupted save.
What performance improvements were actually included?
The notes support describing targeted optimization, not a guaranteed FPS boost. Nixxes did not publish average-FPS gains, minimum-FPS results, frame-time graphs, or hardware-by-hardware benchmarks.

- Radar-related performance work reduced slowdowns associated with that functionality.
- Screen-space reflections were improved.
- Ray-tracing rendering and visual behavior received several optimizations and corrections.
- DLSS Ray Reconstruction received fixes for issues such as noise in character hair; Patch 2 expanded it to Native resolution and Ultra Performance upscaling.
- Other performance optimizations continued across the February releases without a stated percentage improvement.
Independent testing reported that the game could remain CPU-bound at high resolutions, so a faster GPU alone would not necessarily remove every dip. That observation comes from The FPS Review’s testing, not from an official Nixxes benchmark.

- Film Style Animation and Comic SFX toggles were added under Settings > Game > Camera.
- The New Game+ start flow was simplified.
- The manual load/save menu gained mouse scrolling.
- Ray-traced shadows, ray-traced ambient occlusion, water-edge pixelation, UI behavior, and device synchronization received fixes.
- Certain settings were reset to their defaults after installation because of changes to how those options were handled; recheck your graphics and gameplay settings before playing.
AMD Radeon users: why Anti-Lag 2 was removed
Patch 2 temporarily removed Anti-Lag 2 after Nixxes and AMD linked some Radeon driver crashes to initialization of the Anti-Lag 2 SDK, even when the feature was disabled in the menu. This was a stability trade-off rather than a performance feature upgrade. It may change latency behavior for affected users, and it does not prove that every AMD crash was solved. Other notable Patch 2 changes
- Mouse-sensitivity adjustment was improved.
- A New Game+ Sleeping Dart progression issue affecting mouse-and-keyboard players was fixed.
- Nintendo Switch Pro controller support was added through Steam Input.
- Additional rendering and stability fixes accompanied the named crash repairs.
What to do if the game still crashes
- Confirm Steam has downloaded the latest available build, then restart Steam and your PC.
- Recheck settings that may have reset after Patch 1.
- Remove installed mods; Nixxes specifically recommends this after post-update crashes.
- Use Steam’s file-verification function.
- Update your graphics driver, particularly on AMD hardware.
- As diagnostic tests, temporarily disable ray tracing and test without frame generation or aggressive upscaling combinations. These are isolation steps, not guaranteed cures.
- Confirm the game is installed on an SSD. Nixxes associates loading failures, missing models, and audio-sync problems with corrupt files or unsuitable storage; see its loading troubleshooting guidance.
- Record your CPU and GPU, driver and game versions, graphics settings, mission or location, and mod status.
- Submit the requested files to Nixxes Support if the problem persists.
If a new update introduces an immediate problem, Nixxes’ pinned guidance also describes selecting Steam > Properties > Betas > previous_version when that rollback build is available. This is a temporary workaround: it leaves you on an older build and may remove access to newer fixes or features. See the official troubleshooting discussion.
What the February updates did not establish
- They did not guarantee a fixed frame rate for every CPU and GPU combination.
- They did not establish that all AMD Radeon crashes were resolved.
- They did not make maximum ray tracing universally safe or eliminate every stutter and CPU limitation.
- They did not prove that an SSD fixes every kind of crash; storage guidance primarily addresses loading and asset problems.

The Bottom Line
The February 2025 PC updates made meaningful, targeted progress—especially for documented crash scenarios, AMD stability, and ray-tracing behavior—but they were an ongoing stabilization effort, not proof that every performance and crash issue had been eliminated.
