The TECNO Pocket Go is a Windows 11 gaming PC built into a controller-shaped body, not a conventional handheld with its own screen. Its headline display is the separate AR Pocket Vision headset, which presents games as a large private virtual screen. TECNO calls this “AR gaming,” but hands-on coverage describes the experience primarily as a wearable display rather than mixed reality that places game objects into your room.
What is the TECNO Pocket Go?
The Pocket Go combines a Windows 11 computer, game controls and cooling hardware in a roughly 550g chassis. Unlike a Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally or Lenovo Legion Go, it has no integrated display. You normally connect TECNO’s AR Pocket Vision glasses over USB-C, although the computer can reportedly drive a conventional monitor as well.

Because it runs Windows, you can install Steam, Epic Games Store, EA software, other launchers, emulators and ordinary desktop applications. That flexibility also means dealing with Windows updates, display scaling, drivers, launchers and controller compatibility instead of the more console-like software experience of a Steam Deck.

The AR Pocket Vision headset uses Micro-OLED panels to create the impression of a large screen in front of you. TECNO claims an equivalent viewing area of approximately 215 inches when viewed from six metres and has reported support for refresh rates up to 60Hz. Tracking, posture adaptation, vibration and audio-vibration synchronisation are part of TECNO’s feature claims. The headset can retain some peripheral awareness, so it is not necessarily as visually isolating as a VR headset.
#1 Best Overall

Those features should not be confused with room-anchored mixed reality. The glasses primarily show the Pocket Go’s Windows output as a private virtual display; they do not make game characters appear to walk across your physical room in the way a mixed-reality headset can. “AR” is TECNO’s product terminology, not a guarantee of Pokémon Go-style environmental overlays.
TECNO also describes headset capabilities such as high-resolution input support, but that does not mean its Micro-OLED panels render native 4K game images. The Ryzen 7 8840-series processor remains responsible for rendering the game.
Specifications and configuration differences
| Component | Reported specification | Important qualification |

What games can it play?
In principle, the Pocket Go can run Windows-compatible PC games from Steam, Epic, EA and manually installed launchers, plus emulators and productivity software. Compatibility is broader than on a closed console, but individual games can still fail because of anti-cheat systems, launchers, drivers or controller mappings.
The Radeon 780M is best approached as a handheld integrated GPU. Lower resolutions, sensible texture settings, reduced shadows and an appropriate power profile are more realistic than desktop ultra settings. In Android Authority’s test, Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p High averaged below 30 frames per second. That is one reviewer’s result under specific conditions, not a universal frame-rate guarantee. A huge virtual screen does not make the APU capable of high-end 4K gaming.
Setup: from unboxing to a playable game
- Charge the Pocket Go and complete Windows setup and updates.
- Connect the AR Pocket Vision headset with a USB-C cable that supports DisplayPort video. Use the correct Pocket Go port.
- If Windows does not switch automatically, open Settings → System → Display and select or extend the headset display.
- Install Steam, Epic Games Store, EA or another Windows launcher.
- Connect a keyboard and mouse over Bluetooth or USB when desktop navigation is easier than using the sticks.
- Adjust Windows scaling, text size, refresh rate and game resolution; small desktop text can be difficult through a wearable display.
- Configure controller mappings and choose a plugged-in or battery power mode.
- Use the second USB-C port for charging where that port supports power input.
TECNO’s Vision Pass documentation describes wired screen mirroring and screen configuration for AR glasses. Cable requirements, port functions and output limits should still be checked in the manual supplied with your unit.
If the glasses are unavailable, hands-on coverage says the Pocket Go can be connected to a regular monitor and used with a keyboard and mouse. That is a useful fallback, but it also highlights the central compromise: the device itself has no usable built-in screen.
Battery life and charging
A 50Wh replaceable battery looks substantial for a controller-sized PC, but demanding Windows games can drain it quickly. Android Authority reported that its sample fell below 10% after roughly 65 minutes of EA FC 24 play. Performance reportedly declined below about 15% charge. These observations should be treated as a test result, not a guaranteed runtime for every game or configuration.
You can play while connected to power, although heavy gaming may still slowly reduce the battery if the charger, cable or selected power mode cannot supply the system’s full demand. A replaceable pack may extend the device’s useful life, but confirm that genuine replacement batteries are available in your country.
Comfort, prescription use and safety
Wearable-display comfort is highly individual. One hands-on tester found the glasses comfortable for a reasonable session, while another experienced pressure at the temples. Face shape, weight distribution, brightness, motion sensitivity and room lighting all matter. TECNO regional pages report an adjustable diopter range of 0 to 600 degrees on some versions, but that is not a substitute for checking prescription compatibility or insert availability.

Price and US availability
Android Authority reported a Kickstarter-era special price of $899 for the complete package in September 2024 and an expected price of €1,199. Those are launch figures, not verified August 2026 retail prices. TECNO’s official product page remains online, but there is no established evidence here of a standard US retail channel, current US price, warranty coverage or dependable delivery status.
US buyers should verify the seller, exact Ryzen and RAM configuration, inclusion of the AR Pocket Vision glasses, taxes, import charges, return rights, campaign fulfilment, repair arrangements and battery availability. Imported or crowdfunding units may not receive the same support as locally sold TECNO products.
Common problems and practical fixes
- No image in the glasses: use a DisplayPort-capable USB-C cable, try the correct port, reconnect the headset before booting and check Windows display detection.
- Charging problems: do not assume both USB-C ports have identical video and power functions; check the manual.
- Gamepad not recognised: reconnect the controller, restart the game and test Windows’ Game Controllers panel or an Xbox-compatible input mode.
- Low performance: connect AC power, check the power profile and lower resolution, shadows, textures and other demanding settings.
- Headset discomfort: adjust fit, diopter and brightness, then shorten sessions.
- Software changes: TECNO’s Vision Pass agreement allows features and updates to change, and outdated software may limit functionality.
Who should buy the Pocket Go?
The Pocket Go makes the most sense if a private, very large virtual screen is your priority; you specifically want a controller-shaped Windows PC; you value a replaceable battery; and you are comfortable troubleshooting Windows, cables and launchers. It can also appeal to owners who want a portable PC that can drive an external monitor.
It is a poor fit if you need a device that works immediately without glasses, want predictable US warranty support, expect long unplugged AAA sessions, dislike wearable displays or want true room-aware mixed reality. Buyers who simply want a practical handheld will usually be better served by a conventional model with an integrated screen.

Alternatives
Conventional Windows handhelds
The ASUS ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, MSI Claw and newer Windows handhelds provide a built-in display, more familiar retail support and fewer accessories. Their advantage is convenience, not the Pocket Go’s private giant-screen concept.
Steam Deck
The Steam Deck is the stronger choice for SteamOS simplicity, a built-in screen, established community support and straightforward handheld use. It is less suitable if Windows-only launchers or a glasses-first setup are essential.
AR glasses with another device
Glasses such as XREAL One, VITURE Pro or current Rokid models can be paired with a compatible handheld, laptop or phone that supports USB-C DisplayPort. This preserves the other device’s built-in screen, but compatibility, power delivery and cable behaviour must be checked.
Cloud gaming or a laptop
Cloud gaming may deliver the large private display without buying a dedicated local gaming PC. A compact gaming laptop is preferable when you need a keyboard, ordinary Windows productivity, a larger battery or easier servicing.

The TECNO Pocket Go is an inventive wearable-display Windows handheld, not a self-contained console. Its AR Pocket Vision glasses can make games feel impressively large and private, while the 8840-series APU provides broad PC-game access in a compact controller body. However, the lack of a built-in screen, headset comfort variables, short demanding-game endurance, Windows friction, configuration differences and uncertain US availability make it a specialist purchase. Buy it for the screenless wearable concept—not because it offers better convenience or raw gaming value than mainstream handheld PCs.
