GeForce NOW’s Xbox Automatic Sign-in is available: link your Xbox account once, and supported PC Game Pass and Microsoft Store PC games can sign you in automatically when you launch them through NVIDIA’s service. It streamlines authentication; it does not provide a game license, cover every Xbox title, or turn GeForce NOW into Xbox Cloud Gaming.
What Xbox Automatic Sign-in does
Before the feature, players could connect an Xbox account to sync supported PC Game Pass and Microsoft Store games with their GeForce NOW library, but a game could still ask them to sign in to Microsoft when it launched. Xbox Automatic Sign-in lets GeForce NOW use the linked profile to authenticate automatically for supported games on later launches. NVIDIA says the linked sign-in works across supported devices.
Library syncing and automatic sign-in are related but distinct: syncing helps supported games appear in your library; automatic sign-in reduces repeated Microsoft-account prompts. Neither changes which games GeForce NOW supports or what you own.
How to link your Xbox account
- Open the GeForce NOW app and sign in to your NVIDIA account.
- Go to Settings → Connections.
- Select the Xbox connection and start the account-linking flow.
- Sign in to Microsoft and authorize the connection when prompted.
- Return to GeForce NOW, let the connection finish, then launch a supported Microsoft Store or PC Game Pass game.
If you linked your Xbox account before automatic sign-in was introduced, NVIDIA says you may need to reconnect it from Settings → Connections. NVIDIA associated the feature with GeForce NOW release 2.0.66; for current use, update the app rather than seeking that older version. What you need—and what the link does not provide
- A GeForce NOW account: Your membership determines the service access and features available to you. Check NVIDIA’s membership page for current options.
- The right game entitlement: For a subscription game, you need an active PC Game Pass subscription; for a purchased game, you need the relevant Microsoft Store PC license. Linking accounts does not make either free. See PC Game Pass for Microsoft’s subscription information.
- A game GeForce NOW supports: The game must have a supported PC version and storefront listing. Game Pass availability alone is not enough.
This is not Xbox Cloud Gaming. GeForce NOW streams supported PC games from NVIDIA’s cloud service, using connected PC storefronts and subscriptions. Xbox Cloud Gaming is Microsoft’s separate cloud-streaming service. Linking an Xbox account to GeForce NOW does not unlock the Xbox console catalog or provide access to Microsoft’s cloud-streamed console versions. Check a game before subscribing or troubleshooting
Search NVIDIA’s live supported-games catalog for the exact title and storefront. Compatibility can change, so a fixed launch-era list is not a reliable guide. Some supported examples reported around the feature’s launch included games from Fallout, Starfield, and Forza; that does not establish that every title in those series is supported now.

- A game being available on Xbox consoles does not guarantee its PC version works with GeForce NOW.
- A game being included in PC Game Pass does not guarantee it is streamable through GeForce NOW.
- The storefront matters: a title launched through Steam may have different entitlement and sign-in behavior from its Microsoft Store version.
- Check the specific edition and region; availability, DLC, and publisher support can affect what you can launch.
If a game still asks you to sign in
Automatic sign-in is intended to reduce repeated credential entry, not suppress every security or launcher prompt. If a supported game continues to ask for authentication, work through these checks:

Confirm that it is the Microsoft account with the game entitlement.
- Update and restart the GeForce NOW app, then sign out of and back into GeForce NOW.
- Check whether another Microsoft account is active in your browser or on the device; sign out of the conflicting account if necessary.
- Confirm that the game is the supported PC version and storefront listing, and that your PC Game Pass subscription or Microsoft Store license is active.
- Try another supported Xbox PC game. If that works, the issue may be specific to the title; if not, check NVIDIA’s setup guidance and service status or contact support.
These are practical troubleshooting checks; NVIDIA specifically identifies reconnecting older account links as a possible fix. Publisher launchers, two-factor authentication, license checks, or account-security events can still require interaction.

Is GeForce NOW a good fit for PC Game Pass players?
It is most useful if you regularly play supported PC Game Pass or Microsoft Store games and want to stream them on a device that is not a gaming PC. GeForce NOW also supports connected PC libraries, but account linking does not guarantee a particular catalog, performance level, or queue experience.
Cloud play depends on your network and NVIDIA’s service availability. NVIDIA’s system requirements list bandwidth targets from 15 Mbps for 720p at 60 frames per second to 45 Mbps for 4K at 120 frames per second, and recommend latency below 80 ms to an NVIDIA data center. These are targets, not guarantees of real-world performance; resolution and frame-rate options also depend on membership, device, title, and region. Check your connection and the catalog before paying for a higher tier.

When it launched
NVIDIA announced Xbox Automatic Sign-in at Gamescom on August 20, 2024; it became available around the August 22 GFN Thursday. It is now an available feature, not an upcoming rollout. NVIDIA’s announcement describes the launch and the supported Xbox PC game sign-in experience.
