Make video game music with AI by generating a short instrumental cue around one gameplay moment, then editing its length, energy, and ending so it can sit under play without fighting sound effects or dialogue. Use a prompt-led generator for the first draft, export stems or MIDI where available, and check the finished file against your game engine’s audio requirements and the generator’s terms before publishing.

Plan The Cue Before You Generate

Pick one specific use: a calm exploration loop, a tense encounter, a victory sting, or music for a menu. A cue for gameplay often needs to keep working while the player repeats actions, so aim for a clear mood and a steady musical bed rather than a lyric-led song with a fixed story arc.

  • Write down the scene, mood, and intensity in plain language.
  • Decide whether you need a continuous loop, a short transition, or a longer cue. The tools listed here do not establish automatic seamless looping; plan to inspect and edit the ending yourself.
  • Choose whether you need a fully mixed file or separate parts for later mixing. Stems and MIDI are available in some of the workflows below, but check each product’s plan and export terms.
  • Keep the prompt original. If you use a voice reference, recording, or other material, get the necessary consent and follow the platform’s terms.

Step 1: Draft A Gameplay Music Prompt

Describe the function of the music, not just a genre label. Specify instrumental or vocal, the scene’s emotional direction, the energy level, the role of the rhythm and melody, and what should happen near the ending. For example:

“Instrumental background cue for a quiet nighttime exploration level; restrained and curious, with a slow pulse, sparse percussion, a repeating low pattern, and a small distant melodic motif. Keep the texture steady and unobtrusive for gameplay, build slightly near the end, then resolve cleanly. No vocals.”

This is a starting prompt, not a promise that a generator supports a particular game genre, instrument, tempo, or loop format. Those specifics are not established for these products; check the vendor’s current controls and examples, then describe the sound you want in ordinary terms.

Step 2: Generate And Compare Drafts

Suno

Suno generates music with vocals, lyrics, instrumentation, and production, and supports editing, remixing, extensions, section replacement, and stem export. Enter the gameplay prompt, make the cue instrumental by saying so, and generate a few alternatives. Choose the one whose mood and density leave room for game audio. Suno is available on web, iOS, and Android. Its Free Plan does not include commercial rights or stem separation; check its plan terms for your intended release.

Eleven Music

Eleven Music can generate instrumental tracks as well as songs with vocals or lyrics, and offers section editing, inpainting, genre transitions, audio references, stems, and MP3/WAV exports. Try the same prompt, then use section editing or inpainting to revise a passage that feels too busy or changes direction too abruptly. Its Free plan is limited to personal use, and commercial rights vary by plan and exclude film, TV, and studio games. Check the current terms for your project before using an export.

Soundverse AI Beat Maker

Soundverse AI Beat Maker generates complete instrumentals with drums, basslines, melodies, and arrangements. It exports WAV mixes, separated stems, and MIDI for further editing, and is available on web, iOS, and Android with a browser-based multitrack studio. Use it when you want an instrumental draft that you can reshape in a multitrack workflow. Its Free Tier starts with 1,000 tokens upon signup; check the vendor’s terms for current limits and commercial use.

Step 3: Shape The Best Draft For Play

  1. Listen to each draft at the intended gameplay volume, with the sort of sound effects or dialogue that will play over it if you have them. Set aside versions whose melody or percussion would compete for attention.
  2. Keep the musical idea that suits the scene and revise only the weak section. Suno supports section replacement and extensions; Eleven Music supports section editing and inpainting. Use the available controls to request a simpler passage, a steadier texture, or a gentler transition.
  3. If the tool provides stems, separate the parts you may need to balance independently. Suno’s Free Plan does not include stem separation. Eleven Music offers stems, with commercial rights depending on plan. Soundverse offers separated stems; check its terms before commercial use.
  4. If you need editable notes, Soundverse lists MIDI export. Treat the MIDI as material for further editing, and check whether its sound and structure suit your project.
  5. Export a draft and audition its start and end in sequence. These tool descriptions do not establish seamless-loop export, so check for clicks, silence, abrupt changes, or a lingering final note and edit the cue as needed in your production workflow.

Step 4: Check Rights And Delivery Before Release

Rights depend on the product and plan. Suno’s Free Plan does not include commercial rights; Eleven Music’s commercial rights vary by plan and exclude film, TV, and studio games; Soundverse lists commercial licenses for Creator & Pro, while its Free Tier is described separately. Read the current terms for the exact use, distribution, and platform you have in mind. If a prompt or reference uses someone’s voice or recording, get consent and follow the service’s terms.

Before putting the cue in a game, stream, or video, confirm the export format, length, and technical requirements with your project or distribution platform. The product details here do not establish engine-specific formats, sample rates, or a guaranteed loop point, so verify those requirements with the relevant vendor or platform.
