If your mouse is not working in GTA San Andreas on Windows 11, first determine whether Windows detects the mouse. If it works everywhere else, identify which original PC edition of San Andreas you installed and use the SilentPatch maintainer’s instructions for that edition. Rockstar’s requirements page lists Windows 10 64-bit, keyboard and mouse, but does not list Windows 11, so treat Windows 11 compatibility as unconfirmed rather than as a guaranteed failure.
Start by identifying the symptom
“Mouse not working” can describe different problems. Classify what you see before changing files:
- The pointer is absent or frozen throughout Windows: this is probably a device, connection, power, receiver or driver issue rather than a GTA-specific fault.
- The mouse works in Windows and the game menu but not during play: investigate the original game installation and its input handling.
- The pointer moves but clicks do nothing: retest menus and gameplay separately; this is not the same symptom as a missing pointer.
- The cursor escapes the game window, especially with multiple monitors: this is the symptom directly addressed by a documented SilentPatch update.
These branches are diagnostic checks, not proof that one cause explains every report of “GTA San Andreas mouse not moving.”

Microsoft’s Windows 10/11 troubleshooting guidance recommends isolating the hardware before changing the game.

- Reconnect a wired USB mouse.
- Try a different USB port and bypass any hub or dock.
- For a wireless USB mouse, check the battery and receiver. Unplug the receiver, wait about 10 seconds, then reconnect it.
- If it uses Bluetooth, confirm that Windows still shows it as connected and powered.
- Test the mouse on another computer if possible.
If the mouse fails in Windows or on another computer, address the device, receiver, connection or driver first. A replacement mouse is appropriate only when these tests show that the hardware itself is defective; buying one is not a documented fix for a game-only input problem.
Confirm which San Andreas PC edition you have
Do not apply a loader or DLL from a tutorial for a different release. The original PC game has different installation paths for its executable and launcher versions.

Check the launcher and executable you actually run, then follow the current release instructions from the SilentPatch maintainer. Do not silently substitute Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition; it is a separate PC product with different requirements and files.

Apply the documented game-specific path
When SilentPatch is relevant
SilentPatch is community software, not an official Rockstar fix. Its maintainer’s July 31, 2026 update says it improved “fixes for the mouse cursor leaving the game window in multi-monitor setups.” That makes it a plausible path when the cursor escapes or loses capture. It does not establish a universal cure for a pointer that is missing, frozen, or ignoring clicks in every situation.

Install only the edition-matched components
- Back up the original game folder and note the installed edition.
- Read the maintainer’s current SilentPatch release instructions and README.
- For version 1.0 or Steam, use the ASI Loader path specified there.
- For Rockstar Games Launcher, use Ultimate ASI Loader as the maintainer directs.
- Install the patch files in the location and structure required by that release; do not mix loaders from unrelated guides.
- Launch the same executable that previously showed the mouse problem.
The project README frames San Andreas support around version 1.0, with preference for newer Steam or Rockstar binaries. Results therefore depend on the exact executable and setup.
Retest the exact failed action
After installation, repeat the test that failed: move the camera during gameplay, click a menu item, or switch between monitors. If the mouse now works, the change addressed that particular setup. If it does not, record the edition, executable, Windows version, number of monitors and precise symptom before seeking support.

Do not assume that compatibility mode, CPU affinity changes, random DLL downloads, controller purchases or CLEO are required. The documented sources do not establish those as solutions for this problem. The SilentPatch README also says its repository is not intended for game-support requests; use Rockstar’s support request route for the game, including your exact version and symptom.

Rockstar’s PC requirements page, last updated May 1, 2024, lists Windows 10 64-bit as both minimum and recommended, plus keyboard and mouse input. It does not list Windows 11 and warns, “Unlisted specifications may not be supported.” That is a requirements-page boundary, not a statement that Windows 11 is definitively unsupported.

- Mouse fails across Windows: troubleshoot the connection, power, receiver, port or device before touching GTA.
- Mouse works elsewhere: verify the original San Andreas edition and executable.
- Cursor escapes the window: consider the current SilentPatch release and its edition-specific loader instructions.
- Problem persists: preserve the installation details and report the exact symptom through the appropriate support channel.
