Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has five named romance routes: Klara, Rosa Ruthard, Katherine, Hans Capon and Margaret. It also offers several brief encounters. Most can be seen in one playthrough, but Katherine and Hans compete for the final romantic scene during Hunger and Despair. Rosa works with either route. Quest timing, dialogue choices and a few time-sensitive objectives matter more than any general approval meter.
Spoiler note: This guide names romance quests, choices and outcomes. Exact triggers can shift with patches, so keep a manual save before major quest transitions and especially before the late farewell.

Short encounters include Doubravka, Myshka, Black Bartoush, Widow Johanka, Lousy Mary and available bathhouse workers. They are brief scenes or services, not continuing partner relationships.

Romance opportunities are tied to particular quests and conversations. Heart icons are the clearest signal, but some checks use Speech, Impression, Scholarship or Persuasion. Clean clothing and higher Charisma can help you pass a check; they cannot restore a trigger you already missed. When a guide gives a specific line, use the heart-marked option in your current version if the wording differs.

Klara: the early two-part route
Start at Nebakov
- During Back in the Saddle at Nebakov, accept Klara’s offer to gather herbs.
- Stay with the herb activity instead of abandoning it for the main objective.
- When she asks her riddle, answer: “I think she’s called Klara.”
Continue during The Finger of God
Help the wounded men during The Finger of God, then speak with Klara. This is an early, two-part storyline rather than the campaign’s final partner decision.
Rosa Ruthard: complete Rosa’s Book promptly
Taking French Leave
- Speak with Rosa and accept Rosa’s Book during Taking French Leave.
- Retrieve the book in Maleshov before leaving the quest area. The reported location is the second-floor room of Lady Ofka.
- Return it promptly and choose supportive responses during Rosa’s later scenes.
Do not choose an outcome that abandons Rosa to the tower’s destruction. Rosa’s route is compatible with both Katherine and Hans, making it the safest named romance to combine with either late storyline.

Katherine: a missable late route
Finish her Kuttenberg quests
- Complete The Fifth Commandment in Kuttenberg before Katherine leaves the city.
- Resolve The Stalker during The Lion’s Den.
- During Hunger and Despair, speak with her at the final opportunity.
The final scene
The reported romantic reassurance is “I’ll bring help, and everything will be alright again.” If the heart-marked wording in your build differs, follow the romance icon. Katherine’s final scene competes with Hans Capon’s, so save before the farewell if you want to replay both outcomes.

Hans Capon: maintain the campaign-long route
Choose heart dialogue throughout
Hans does not hinge on one standalone romance quest. Select heart-marked responses whenever they appear across the main campaign, including later chapters.

Hunger and Despair
- Speak with Hans before leaving during Hunger and Despair.
- Choose the romantic conversation and accept the kiss.
Hans’s final scene occupies the same story window as Katherine’s. Choosing one closes the other in that playthrough unless you reload an earlier save. Rosa can still be completed alongside Hans.
Margaret: a self-contained encounter
- Find Margaret at a mill.
- Meet her again and assist with her scheme.
- Accept the encounter when offered.
Margaret takes money from Henry afterward. One guide reports a loss of 20% of carried Groschen, while another reports 250 Groschen, so the amount is not universal. Stash money before the encounter if you want to limit the potential loss.

Short flings and bathhouse encounters
Wedding Crashers
Doubravka can be pursued through the dance and follow-up interaction. Myshka’s dance is a separate brief encounter, not a full romance route.
For Victory! feast
Black Bartoush and Widow Johanka are short options associated with the same feast event.

Into the Underworld and bathhouses
Lousy Mary is linked to Into the Underworld. Bathhouse workers may offer repeatable short services where available. None of these encounters creates an ongoing partner relationship.
Can you romance multiple characters?
Compatible combinations
- Rosa can be completed with Katherine.
- Rosa can be completed with Hans.
- Klara, Margaret and the short encounters are not normally reported to block either late route.
The one decisive conflict
Katherine and Hans can both be advanced, but their final scenes are mutually exclusive during Hunger and Despair. Make a separate save before that farewell to preserve both choices.
A conservative one-playthrough plan
- Complete Klara’s herb scene during Back in the Saddle, then help her during The Finger of God.
- Take and return Rosa’s book during Taking French Leave before leaving Maleshov.
- Finish Katherine’s Kuttenberg tasks as soon as they become available.
- Select Hans’s heart-marked dialogue throughout the campaign if you want his route.
- Save manually before the Hunger and Despair farewell.
- Choose Katherine’s or Hans’s final scene, then reload the save to view the other if desired.
What about Theresa?
Theresa is not an active partner route in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. Loyalty-related ending references described by community guides should not be treated as a standard romance path. More broadly, these routes add scenes and dialogue; the game does not function as a marriage simulator with a permanent post-game partner system.
Version and missability notes
Route guides reviewed in 2026 do not agree on every dialogue label or payment detail, and exact triggers can be patch-sensitive. A September 2026 guide says it was checked against patch 1.5.6 but also carries an older patch 1.5.3 disclaimer. Use the current in-game romance icon where present, keep manual saves before quest transitions, and avoid delaying Rosa’s book or Katherine’s important side quests.
