Look for Tracktail Lizards in the sandy parts of the Windward Plains, starting at Area 11 where the rocks meet the dunes. If none appear, check Area 13 near the oasis and the sandy route by the Area 12 connection. Approach carefully, then capture one with the in-game Capture Net.
Where to look for a Tracktail Lizard
Search the Windward Plains. Guides identify two useful areas, but neither is a guaranteed spawn location.
Area 11: rocks and dunes
Begin where the rock formations meet the sand dunes in Area 11. This is the clearest first search point. PC Gamer and Game8 both point to this area.
Area 13: oasis and Area 12 connection
If Area 11 is empty, inspect the area near the oasis in Area 13, including the sandy, rocky connection toward Area 12. Game8 lists Area 13, while PowerPyx describes searching around its rocky connection with Area 12. The guides do not establish that either zone has a higher spawn rate.

How to recognize and capture it
Look for a small, blue-toned lizard with a conspicuously long, thick tail. It may rear upright in an alert pose, and it can leave tracks in the sand. Keep your distance while identifying it: if startled, it may flee or burrow. Game8 describes its appearance and tracks; PC Gamer notes that it can flee and burrow.
- If you are doing Dareel’s Research Report, accept the request before setting out.
- Travel to the Windward Plains and search Area 11, then Area 13 if needed.
- Move slowly near a suspected lizard rather than rushing through its patch of sand.
- Select the Capture Net, aim at the lizard, and fire once the aiming indicator confirms it is in range.
- For the report, return to Dareel at Windward Plains Base Camp after capturing it.
Game8 recommends a Ghillie Mantle, while PC Gamer describes sneaking and checking the aiming indicator. The mantle is an optional precaution in these walkthroughs, not an established requirement.

What to do if no lizard appears
These locations are search zones, not guaranteed spawns. PowerPyx reports that endemic creatures do not appear on every visit and recommends fast-travelling to another map and back; a video walkthrough also suggests leaving and returning. Treat this as a refresh tactic rather than a guaranteed fix. After returning to the Windward Plains, check Areas 11 and 13 again. PowerPyx
