Yes, an external computer-vision aimbot can be designed to work across many PC and console games because it reacts to the game’s video output rather than modifying the game process. But the 2021 maker’s “works on any game,” “undetectable” and performance statements were promotional claims, not independent measurements.
The system described by Ars Technica’s July 9, 2021 report used a capture card, a second computer running object detection, and an input-passthrough device. That architecture can avoid conventional file or process tampering, but it does not make the resulting behavior invisible to anti-cheat systems.
What the cheat maker was selling
The promotion described a planned Pro version as “undetectable, unstoppable full auto-aim [and] full auto-shots” in exchange for a $50 “donation.” The administrator identified in the report as LordofCV claimed about 200 users, detection and firing in roughly 10 milliseconds, and operation at up to 240 frames per second. Those figures came from the CVCheat community in 2021; no independent performance study or current user count established them.
LordofCV also said the system performed best against large, clearly visible targets at close to medium range. Long-range sniper use could work in favorable conditions, but it was less reliable. These qualifications matter: a detector that sees a large target in an uncluttered scene has a much easier job than one handling a distant, partially hidden character.

How an external computer-vision aimbot works
The reported design is a chain of ordinary technologies whose combination creates a cheating system. Each component has legitimate uses on its own; the abuse comes from connecting them to automate aiming and firing.

Capture the game image
A USB video capture card receives the live HDMI output from a PC or console and sends frames to a separate computer. The game software itself does not have to be modified for this step.

Detect a target in the pixels
Computer-vision software examines each frame for a visual pattern, such as a human-shaped enemy. A YOLO-style object detector was given as an example. Implementations may restrict analysis to a central targeting region so that menus, teammates or peripheral objects are less likely to trigger it.

Convert position into aim movement
Once a target or body region is located, the software estimates the direction and distance from the current reticle position to that point. It then turns the estimate into corrective mouse or controller movement.

Pass movement and firing back to the game
An input-passthrough device, such as a Titan Two or Cronus Zen, can emulate controller or mouse signals and issue a firing command. The game receives input events rather than a software module injected into its process.
A separate public project titled deep-learning-fps-aim-assist is an example of the broader idea of applying machine learning to first-person-shooter aiming. Its existence does not show that the 2021 commercial system used that code or achieved the advertised results.
What “works on any game” really means
“Any game” is best understood as a claim about the interface, not a guarantee of equal accuracy everywhere. If a game produces a capturable image and accepts ordinary controller or mouse input, the external chain may be adaptable without knowing the game’s internal code. Adaptation still depends on practical conditions.
- Target visibility: The detector needs enough pixels, contrast and an unobstructed view to recognize an opponent.
- Target size and distance: Large, close-to-medium-range characters are easier to classify than tiny or distant models.
- Frame rate and latency: Capture, inference and input delays can make the reticle trail a moving target, especially during rapid camera movement.
- Visual variation: Skins, lighting, smoke, effects, maps and unusual character poses can reduce confidence unless the detector handles them.
- Thresholds and targeting rules: A system must choose when a detection is reliable enough to move or shoot, balancing missed targets against false activations.
- Game and device behavior: Different consoles, display modes and input protocols can change timing and compatibility.
Those constraints explain why the maker’s own description favored clear targets and treated long-range use as conditional. They also show why a promotional “any game” label should not be read as a tested guarantee for every title, platform or mode.

External aimbots versus injected cheats
An injected or modified cheat runs inside the game or alongside it, where anti-cheat software can inspect files, processes, memory access and code integrity. The reported computer-vision design instead observes the rendered screen and sends emulated input from outside the protected game process.
That difference changes the evidence available to defenders; it does not create immunity. A player can still produce aim corrections, reaction times and firing sequences that are statistically or visibly abnormal. Devices and drivers can also leave telemetry, and a game may correlate input timing with the rendered frames it delivered.
How Riot responded to the external-input argument
Phillip Koskinas, Valorant’s anti-cheat lead, told Ars Technica: “Ultimately, the ’emulated input’ vector isn’t anything new, and the Vanguard team is very aware of it.” He added: “Cheaters are always looking for new corners to hide in, and ‘Kernel Drivers’ have never been the most important tool in our arsenal.”
The point is that anti-cheat is not only a contest over who controls the kernel. Defenders can combine process-integrity checks with observations of screen-derived behavior, input timing, device characteristics and match data. The exact signals and thresholds used by a live service are not publicly specified in the report.

External hardware is not automatically undetectable
The report described a 12-month ban for former Beşiktaş Esports player Yasin “Nisay” Gök. An automated Valorant anti-cheat system flagged a setup that read the user’s screen and emulated corrective mouse movement through external hardware; human review then confirmed the cheating. The case demonstrates that avoiding direct game-process modification does not prevent detection or disciplinary action.
LordofCV also acknowledged that review footage and unusually fast aim-and-fire behavior could look suspicious: “Humans can only do things so fast, [and] this software does it faster.” That observation is not a universal detection rule, but it illustrates why behavior can matter even when the cheat is physically outside the gaming machine.

Technically, the reported architecture is suited to consoles because the capture card receives the console’s video output while the separate computer performs the visual analysis. An input-passthrough device can then send controller-like commands back through the setup. The console does not need to run the detector itself.

That does not mean every console, game, display mode or accessory will work identically. Resolution, refresh rate, capture latency, supported input protocols and the game’s own telemetry affect results. More importantly, external routing does not exempt the account from behavioral review or other anti-cheat controls.

Can Riot detect Titan Two or Cronus Zen input?
A Titan Two or Cronus Zen is an input-passthrough device, not proof of cheating by itself; such hardware can have legitimate accessibility, compatibility or controller uses. Riot’s reported position was that emulated input was already a known vector, and the Nisay case shows that external hardware can be part of a confirmed cheating detection.
Whether a particular device is identified directly, inferred from its signal patterns, or implicated through player behavior is not established by the 2021 report. It is therefore inaccurate to promise that either device is always detected or always invisible.

External computer-vision cheats push anti-cheat beyond a single question—whether a suspicious program is running in the game process. A useful defensive comparison considers several dimensions:

The historical case combines automated detection with human confirmation rather than relying on a single kernel-level check. Detection quality will vary with target visibility, frame rate, detector thresholds, input timing and the telemetry available to the game service.
The practical answer for players
An external aimbot can be made broadly game-agnostic because it sees pixels and sends ordinary-looking input. That is the technical reason the 2021 promotion could make an “any game” pitch. It is not evidence that the system was accurate in every title, operated at the claimed latency, or remained undetected.
For players and tournament organizers, capture cards and controller adapters should be evaluated by their use and surrounding behavior, not treated as proof of innocence or guilt on their own. For developers, the episode is a reminder that process protection is only one layer of an anti-cheat strategy.
