Spoiler warning: This guide gives the complete V.A.C. indicator solution and explains the reward behind the concealed wall.
Open the breaker box in the Utility Closet and set the six indicators, from left to right, to Off, Blue, Green, White, Red, Purple. If all six indicators are currently off, use the button sequence below, numbering the buttons 1–6 from left to right.

Direct button sequence
The sequence below is reproduced from the published solution guide. It assumes you are starting with all six indicators off.
- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 — turn all six indicators green.
- 1, 2, 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 — establish the blue state, including the final indicator being off as described in the guide.
- 6, 6, 5, 5, 5, 4, 4, 4, 3, 3, 3, 2, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1 — turn all six indicators purple.
- 4, 5, 6, 6, 6, 6, 5, 5, 5, 3, 3, 3, 1, 1 — finish the required arrangement.
The target order is Off – Blue – Green – White – Red – Purple. The complete button order and target arrangement are documented by the Blue Prince Wiki Utility Closet reference and GameSpot’s breaker-box guide.

If you already pressed buttons
The puzzle is stateful. Do not blindly enter the full sequence if the indicators are no longer all off. Read the six colors currently shown, then continue from that observed state or reset the puzzle before using the listed order. The sequence is not a universal input string for every partially solved box.
How the V.A.C. indicators change
The breaker box follows a set of color-transition rules:

- All six indicators begin off.
- Pressing an off indicator turns it green.
- Pressing a green indicator turns it red.
- Pressing a red indicator turns it off.
- When all six indicators are green, the next press produces a blue result.
- Pressing a blue indicator turns it off and changes its neighboring indicators to blue. A neighboring red indicator becomes purple instead.
- When five indicators are purple, pressing the remaining one synchronizes it to purple.
- After all six are purple, the next press can turn one indicator white.
These interactions explain why the solution is more than a simple left-to-right color cycle: later presses affect neighboring indicators and depend on the exact current pattern.
Where to find the in-game clues
You can solve the puzzle from the scattered clues instead of entering the direct sequence immediately. The relevant hints are distributed across the estate:

Mail Room diagram
An initial diagram in the Mail Room introduces the indicator behavior and provides substantial guidance for the early transitions.

Later Mail Room letter
A subsequent letter in the Mail Room, connected to a Laboratory experiment, supplies the remaining interactions needed to understand the purple and white states.

- Completing the color arrangement opens the concealed wall behind the breaker box.
- Inside, pull the large lever.
- The lever unlocks permanent access to the Gemstone Cavern and grants two additional gems at the start of each day.
The chamber closes again on a later visit, but entering the correct sequence reopens it. Ordinary switch effects also return to their default state at day’s end and can be reversed by toggling the relevant switches again.

Quick troubleshooting
- The sequence fails immediately: verify that the buttons are numbered from left to right and that the indicators were all off before step one.
- The box is partially colored: stop and use the colors currently displayed rather than restarting the published sequence mid-state.
- The wall opened but the cavern is unavailable later: repeat the breaker-box sequence to reopen the chamber, then use the lever if necessary.
