Complete Count Ymir’s quest in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree by ringing the bells at the Finger Ruins of Rhia, Dheo, and Miyr—in that order—then defeating Metyr, Mother of Fingers, and choosing one of Jolán’s two rewards. The Dheo route requires the O Mother gesture and the Shadow Keep Back Gate statue. The expansion requires the Elden Ring base game.
How do I complete Count Ymir’s questline?
Ymir is at the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. The detailed sequence below follows PowerPyx’s walkthrough, published June 22, 2024. The official Bandai Namco product page describes the expansion as a new story in the Land of Shadow and confirms that it requires the base game.
- Meet Ymir at the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. Speak to him on his throne to receive the Hole-Laden Necklace and the first Ruins Map. The route to the cathedral passes through Moorth Ruins and Bonny Village.
- Ring the first bell at the Finger Ruins of Rhia. Follow the route southeast along the Cerulean Coast to the ruins and interact with the hanging bell.
- Return to the cathedral. Speak to Ymir to receive the second Ruins Map, then exhaust Jolán’s dialogue. If you want Ymir’s available spells, buy them before advancing: PowerPyx flags this as a missable opportunity at this point in the quest.
- Open the route to the Hinterland and ring the second bell. Find the O Mother gesture near Bonny Village, use it at the statue by Shadow Keep’s Back Gate, then travel to the Finger Ruins of Dheo and interact with the bell.
- Return to the cathedral and reveal the route to Miyr. Exhaust Ymir’s and Jolán’s dialogue. If Ymir is still on his throne, reload the area as needed. When he is gone, interact with the throne to reveal a ladder.
- Descend to the Finger Ruins of Miyr. Ring the third bell to trigger the Metyr, Mother of Fingers boss encounter.
- Return to the throne room and defeat the attackers. Jolán attacks first and Ymir follows. After defeating them, reload the Cathedral and speak to Jolán.
- Choose Jolán’s reward. Give her either the Iris of Grace or the Iris of Occultation; the choice determines which reward you receive.
Where are the Finger Ruins bells?
The bells are at the end of the quest’s three ruin visits. Ring them in this order: Rhia, Dheo, then Miyr. The third is not available from the beginning; it lies below Ymir’s throne and is reached after completing the earlier stages and revealing the ladder.

How do I get to the Finger Ruins of Dheo?
Find the O Mother gesture
Look on the cliffs northeast of Bonny Village for the O Mother gesture. You need it to open the route from Shadow Keep’s Back Gate into the Hinterland.

Use it at Shadow Keep’s Back Gate
At the Back Gate, stand before the statue with praying hands and use O Mother. The statue opens the route northeast. Follow it into the Hinterland, continue to the Finger Ruins of Dheo, and ring the bell there.
What happens at the Finger Ruins of Miyr?
Ringing the third bell triggers the Metyr, Mother of Fingers boss fight. Afterward, return to the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. In the throne room, Jolán attacks first and Ymir joins the fight. Defeat both, reload the Cathedral, and speak with Jolán to reach her reward choice.

Should I give Jolán the Iris of Grace or Iris of Occultation?
The choice gives a different reward, and the described quest sequence treats the outcomes as mutually exclusive. Choose based on whether you want a spirit summon or a katana; the available guide does not establish which reward is stronger or better for a particular build.

- Ymir’s spells: Buy any you want before progressing beyond the stage where he leaves his throne; PowerPyx identifies this as missable.
- Crimson Seed Talisman +1: Eldenpedia’s search-index summary says the Rhia bell grants this talisman. The page itself returned a 403 error when checked, so treat this as a cross-check rather than a detail confirmed by the opened walkthrough.
- Metyr’s Remembrance: PowerPyx’s walkthrough also notes the Remembrance associated with the Metyr encounter.
