Yes—the PlayStation VR2 PC adapter launched globally on August 7, 2024. Sony’s accessory lets a PlayStation VR2 headset and Sense controllers work with compatible Windows PCs through SteamVR. It does not bring the PlayStation Store’s PS5 VR2 games to PC, and several PS5 features—including HDR, eye tracking, adaptive triggers and most advanced haptics—are unavailable.
The adapter is most compelling for people who already own PS VR2 and a capable gaming PC. New buyers should compare the complete cost and the limitations against a dedicated PC VR headset.
What launched on August 7, 2024?
Sony announced the PlayStation VR2 PC adapter on June 3, 2024, with an August 7 launch date. Sony later confirmed global availability on that date through selected retailers and PlayStation Direct where available. The official product name is PlayStation VR2 PC adapter, rather than “Sony PC Adapter for PlayStation VR2.” Sony’s launch announcement is the primary historical source.

What the adapter does—and does not do
The adapter supplies the PC-side interface for connecting PS VR2 to a Windows gaming computer. With Sony’s free PlayStation VR2 App and Valve’s SteamVR installed, the headset can run compatible PC VR games from Steam.

A DisplayPort cable is not included. Sony identifies the adapter as model CFI-ZVP1; its manual lists approximate dimensions of 79 × 17 × 79 mm, a mass of about 110 g, and an AC adapter output of 5.1 V / 2.8 A. Sony’s product page has the box contents and feature qualifications.
What you need before connecting it
- PlayStation VR2 headset and PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers.
- A compatible Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 64-bit PC.
- A DisplayPort 1.4 cable, purchased separately.
- A direct USB 3.0 connection from the adapter to the PC; do not use a hub or extension cable.
- A standard DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort output connected directly to the adapter. Sony does not officially support DisplayPort over USB-C for this adapter.
- Bluetooth 4.0 or later for the Sense controllers, or a compatible Bluetooth adapter if the computer lacks suitable Bluetooth.
- A Steam account, SteamVR and the free PlayStation VR2 App.
A laptop with USB-C video output is not automatically supported simply because that port carries DisplayPort signals. Sony’s officially documented path uses a direct DisplayPort output.

Minimum and recommended PC specifications
Sony’s support documentation lists these baseline requirements. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee high settings or consistent performance; results vary by game, resolution, refresh rate, drivers and rendering options.

Software and setup procedure
The PlayStation VR2 App appeared on Steam on August 6, 2024, one day before the adapter launch. It remains required for setup and firmware updates. Install it from the official Steam page.
- Install Steam and sign in or create a Steam account.
- Install SteamVR.
- Install and open the PlayStation VR2 App.
- Connect the headset to the PC adapter.
- Connect the adapter directly to a USB 3.0 port on the PC.
- Connect a DisplayPort 1.4 cable directly from the adapter to the PC’s DisplayPort output.
- Connect the AC adapter and power cable.
- Pair the Sense controllers through Bluetooth.
- Follow the PlayStation VR2 App prompts to configure the play area and apply firmware updates.
- Open SteamVR and launch a compatible PC VR title.

- Play-area configuration through the PlayStation VR2 App.

This is why PC operation should be viewed as an expansion of PS VR2, not feature parity with using it on a PS5.
Troubleshooting the common failure points
No headset image or detection
- Verify that the DisplayPort cable is DisplayPort 1.4 and runs directly from the PC output to the adapter.
- Remove docks, hubs, USB-C video paths and other intermediate adapters.
- If the PC has a discrete graphics card, connect to its DisplayPort output rather than a motherboard video output.
- Try another direct USB 3.0 port and avoid USB hubs or extension cables.
Controllers will not pair or track correctly
Bluetooth behavior depends on the computer, adapter model and surrounding radio environment. Sony warns that some Bluetooth adapters are incompatible; test with suitable hardware rather than assuming every Bluetooth dongle will work.
Driver or SteamVR display problems
Install current graphics drivers. Sony also says that users who encounter problems with the newest driver can try reverting to an earlier version. For display or detection issues, Sony’s troubleshooting path is SteamVR → Settings → Developer → Enable Direct Mode; SteamVR labels can change between releases.
Who should buy the adapter?
Strong fit
- Existing PS VR2 owners with a desktop PC that meets or exceeds Sony’s requirements.
- Players who want PC-only VR games such as Half-Life: Alyx.
- Users who prefer a wired DisplayPort connection and want to reuse their PS VR2 headset and controllers.
Weak fit
- New buyers who would need to purchase the headset, controllers, adapter, cable and possibly Bluetooth hardware solely for PC VR.
- Laptop owners without an officially supported DisplayPort output.
- Anyone requiring wireless VR, HDR, eye tracking, adaptive triggers or full haptic effects.
- Owners of PCs close to the minimum GPU specification who expect high or consistent performance.
- Anyone expecting PS5 PS VR2 games or PlayStation Store purchases to appear on Steam.
For an existing PS VR2 owner, the adapter is a relatively inexpensive way to add SteamVR access. For a new PC-only buyer, the total setup cost and lost features make a dedicated PC VR headset worth comparing.
