Black Shark is active again, but a new gaming phone has not been confirmed. Its visible hardware comeback is focused on tablets, wearables and gaming accessories. The latest clearly documented global phone generation is the Black Shark 5 series, launched in 2022; there is no verified Black Shark 6 or 7 announcement.
What is the latest Black Shark phone?
The latest clearly documented global phone generation is the Black Shark 5 and Black Shark 5 Pro. Black Shark announced the series globally on June 9, 2022. The launch announcement listed starting prices of $549/€549 for the Black Shark 5 and $799/€799 for the 5 Pro. Those are historical launch prices, not current offers or guaranteed prices in any region. Black Shark’s launch announcement described features including 144Hz displays, magnetic pop-up gaming triggers and dual vapor-chamber liquid cooling; the series supported up to 120W charging, while the 5 Pro offered configurations up to 16GB RAM and 256GB storage.
These are 2022 specifications, not evidence of what a future model would offer. Black Shark’s current global gaming-phone collection still shows the Black Shark 4, 4 Pro, 5 and 5 Pro. A product page or collection entry does not guarantee stock, checkout availability, warranty or delivery to your country.
Is a Black Shark 6 or 7 official?
No confirmed Black Shark 6, Black Shark 7 or other successor appears in the current global phone catalog, and no official launch date, specifications, preorder or global availability has been announced in the sources available. That is not proof that Black Shark has cancelled a phone or that one cannot be in private development. It means there is no publicly verifiable successor to treat as an announced product.

February 2026 coverage likewise centered on a Black Shark gaming tablet rather than a confirmed new phone: TechRadar’s report discussed tablet activity, while GizChina’s analysis said it found no reliable evidence of a new smartphone in production. The latter is the publication’s assessment, not an official company statement.
What Black Shark is selling and promoting now
Black Shark’s active catalog makes the distinction clear: the brand is promoting hardware, but its visible new activity is broader than phones. The global store features gaming tablets such as the Pad 6, Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro, along with watches and FunCooler products. Official product pages are available for the Pad 6, Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro. The company’s About Us page describes an expansion into tablets, wearables, controllers, cooling accessories, mice, keyboards and power banks.

Black Shark says it was founded in 2017 and incubated by Xiaomi. That establishes its historical Xiaomi backing, but does not by itself settle the companies’ present-day ownership or control relationship.

Why do rumors of a phone comeback keep appearing?
A live storefront, new tablet pages, gaming accessories and the brand’s continued use of “gaming phone” language can look like a smartphone revival when viewed together. They show that Black Shark remains active as a hardware brand; they do not show that a new phone is being designed, certified or prepared for sale. The tablet activity is a product-line development, not proof of a phone launch.

Accessory references can also be misleading. A cooler manual using “Black Shark 6 Series” wording is evidence of accessory naming, not confirmation that a Black Shark 6 smartphone exists or will be released.
How to tell a genuine phone announcement from a weak signal

Why might Black Shark focus elsewhere?
Black Shark has not publicly established a reason for the gap in its phone lineup. Possible business considerations—not confirmed company explanations—include the narrower market for dedicated gaming phones, the expense of software updates and after-sales service, and competition from gaming-phone makers as well as mainstream flagships with powerful chips, high-refresh displays and advanced cooling. Tablets and peripherals may address more kinds of buyers, but their presence does not prove why the company chose its current mix.

A phone return would also need more than a fast processor: dependable regional distribution, cellular-band compatibility, certifications, repairs and a credible software-support plan all affect whether a gaming phone is a sensible purchase. Without those details, a powerful spec sheet alone would not establish long-term value.

What would make a future Black Shark phone worth considering?
For a successor to compete on more than its name, buyers would want to assess:
- Gaming performance: sustained frame rates during long sessions, not just short benchmark bursts.
- Controls and cooling: responsive shoulder triggers and effective thermal management without an uncomfortably bulky design.
- Everyday hardware: a responsive high-refresh display, good touch latency, battery life, charging, speakers and usable cameras.
- Software and compatibility: a clear Android update policy, stable software, cellular bands for the buyer’s carrier, and compatibility with banking, streaming and other essential apps.
- Ownership: local warranty and repair options, durable components, replacement batteries and a price competitive with current alternatives.
Those criteria matter especially because the Black Shark 5 generation is now an older platform. A future phone would need to pair gaming-focused hardware with support and longevity that make sense for the buyer’s region.
Should you wait, buy an older Black Shark or choose something else?
If you own a Black Shark 4 or 5
Base an upgrade on how the phone works for you now: battery health, game performance, software support and access to repairs. Waiting is reasonable if your phone still meets your needs and you specifically want Black Shark’s trigger-focused design, but tablet listings are not a reason to expect a successor on a particular schedule.

If you are considering an older Black Shark
Treat a Black Shark 5 or 5 Pro as an aging, 2022 device rather than a current flagship. Before buying, verify the seller, battery condition, software region, warranty and replacement-part availability. Imported models add risks: cellular bands may not match your carrier, ROMs and Google services can differ, and updates, repairs or payment, banking and streaming app compatibility may be uncertain.
If you need a gaming device now
Choose according to what matters most. A dedicated gaming phone makes sense if integrated triggers and gaming controls are priorities; a mainstream flagship is often a better fit when cameras, software support and everyday use matter more. A gaming tablet with a controller or cooler offers a larger screen, but is not a pocketable phone replacement. A cooler can help an existing compatible phone during long sessions, but cannot fix weak battery health, poor game optimization or every cause of thermal throttling. Black Shark’s gaming-gear collection lists its accessories; check compatibility and regional terms before purchasing.
