Fortnite is available on compatible Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets through Google Play or the official Epic Games Store for Android. Use Google Play when the listing is available. If it is missing, install the Epic Games Store from Epic’s official website and download Fortnite there. Devices that do not meet Fortnite’s requirements may still be able to play through Xbox Cloud Gaming, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, or Amazon Luna in supported regions.
Check compatibility before downloading
A Samsung logo does not guarantee Fortnite compatibility. Epic’s current Android requirements are:

See Epic’s Android system requirements for the current list. Minimum specifications establish eligibility, not a guaranteed frame rate or graphics preset. Older Galaxy A-series phones, entry-level tablets and otherwise compatible devices may need reduced visual settings.
Method 1: Install Fortnite from Google Play
Google Play is the simplest route because Android handles installation and app management in the usual way.

- Open the Google Play Store on your Galaxy device.
- Search for Fortnite.
- Choose the official Fortnite listing and tap Install.
- Open Fortnite, allow its additional files to download, and sign in to an Epic Games account.
Do not install lookalike apps. If Fortnite does not appear or the Install button is unavailable, Epic says the device may not be supported; eligibility can also vary with Android version, device certification, country and account configuration. Follow Epic’s Google Play troubleshooting guidance, update Android and Google Play components, restart the phone, then try the official Epic Games Store.
Method 2: Install the Epic Games Store for Android
Use this first-party route when Google Play does not list Fortnite, when you prefer Epic’s distribution, or when an Epic-distributed installation needs an update. Download only from Epic’s official domain.
- On the Galaxy device, open a mobile browser and visit the official Samsung Fortnite page or Epic’s Android store page.
- Tap Install in the top-right corner, then choose Install on Android.
- Follow the download prompts. Android may show a security warning; use its settings link to allow the browser or installer to install an app from that source.
- Install and open the Epic Games Store.
- Inside the store, choose Fortnite and tap Install.
Epic’s detailed Epic Games Store installation instructions and its Fortnite Android download instructions describe the same process. Approve an external installation only when the source is Epic’s official website. Afterward, turn off the browser’s “install unknown apps” permission if you do not need it again.

Fix Samsung Auto Blocker when Epic is blocked
Epic specifically documents Auto Blocker as a potential obstacle on Galaxy devices released with One UI 6.1.1. The feature can prevent the Epic installer from being sideloaded.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Security and privacy.
- Tap Auto Blocker.
- Turn Auto Blocker off and authenticate if prompted.
- Return to the browser or installation prompt and retry the Epic Games Store installation.
Menu names differ by One UI version, model, language and region. Auto Blocker is separate from the per-app Install unknown apps permission. Once the official store is installed, re-enable Auto Blocker if you do not need further sideloading. See Epic’s Auto Blocker instructions for the documented path.
Finish setup after Fortnite installs
- Launch Fortnite and let it download or install additional game files.
- Sign in or create an Epic Games account. Use the same account connected to other platforms to retain linked progress and purchases.
- Wait for in-game updates to finish before entering a match.
- Start with conservative graphics and frame-rate settings, then test in a low-stakes mode.
Keep more free storage than the installer initially requests: mobile files, updates and optional assets change over time. Install large updates over reliable Wi-Fi and avoid interrupting them.

If you already have the old Epic Games app
Older installations may be labeled Epic Games App rather than Epic Games Store. If Fortnite will not update, follow the in-game update prompt or move to the current official Epic Games Store. Do not replace the installation with an APK from a mirror or forum. Epic’s Samsung support page covers this older-app situation.

Native installation or cloud gaming?

Epic lists Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce NOW and Amazon Luna for supported Samsung users, and its mobile installation support page confirms that cloud services can avoid a native download. Streaming is a poor substitute on unstable Wi-Fi, congested cellular data or high-ping connections.

“Fortnite is not in Google Play”
- Confirm the exact Galaxy model and Android version.
- Compare them with Epic’s requirements.
- Install available Android and Google Play system updates, then restart.
- Try the official Epic Games Store.
- If the hardware is unsupported, use a cloud service instead.
Sideloading cannot turn genuinely incompatible hardware into a supported device.

“Samsung says the app is blocked”
Check Settings → Security and privacy → Auto Blocker, temporarily disable it only for the official Epic source, retry, and restore the protection afterward.
“Install unknown apps” is not visible
Start the installation from Epic’s official website. Android often exposes the relevant permission only after it displays the security prompt; follow that prompt’s settings link, enable the browser or installer, return and tap Install, then revoke the permission when finished.
Fortnite installs but crashes or will not launch
- Confirm the device still meets the current requirements.
- Finish Fortnite and system updates.
- Ensure adequate free storage and close memory-heavy background apps.
- Clear Fortnite’s app cache.
- If the installation is corrupted, uninstall and reinstall from Google Play or the official Epic Games Store.
- Modified or rooted software can also interfere with operation.

“Not enough storage”
Remove unused apps or media, leave substantial headroom beyond the initial download, use Wi-Fi and check space again before reinstalling. There is no permanent universal Fortnite size because the release, texture package and optional assets change.
Performance is poor or the phone overheats
- Begin with the lowest stable graphics preset.
- Reduce 3D resolution or visual quality before raising frame rate.
- Close background apps and keep the device cool.
- Avoid charging during play if heat causes throttling.
Do not assume a Galaxy model name guarantees a particular FPS; performance depends on the game version, settings, temperature and firmware.
Safety, accounts and family settings
- Use only fortnite.com, epicgames.com, Google Play or an explicitly identified official cloud provider.
- Avoid APK mirrors, modified clients, “free V-Bucks” tools and installers requesting unrelated permissions.
- Fortnite is free to download, while V-Bucks, cosmetics and Battle Pass content are optional purchases.
- Parents can use Epic’s parental controls to manage downloads, purchases, voice chat, content ratings and a parental PIN.
Choose the route that fits your Galaxy device
Use Google Play when Fortnite is listed and installable. Use the official Epic Games Store when Google Play does not offer it or when you need Epic’s Android distribution. If the Galaxy device fails the requirements, or storage and performance are unacceptable, choose cloud gaming where the service is available. Never use an unofficial APK to bypass a compatibility check.
