Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is a historically grounded, single-player RPG set in 15th-century Bohemia. Its defining strength is also its main hurdle: survival, social standing, travel and combat all ask you to learn how the world works before Henry becomes capable. It is a compelling fit for players who enjoy gradual progression and immersive systems, but a poor match for anyone seeking quick early power or a low-friction open world.
What kind of RPG is Kingdom Come: Deliverance II?
Developed by Warhorse Studios and published by Deep Silver, the game follows Henry amid a medieval civil war shaped by revenge, betrayal and discovery, according to the official game page. Rather than making the opening a rapid march toward heroism, it builds its role-playing around the practical and social demands of life in medieval Bohemia.
That means ordinary details can affect what Henry can do: his status, clothing, hygiene, food, saving and travel all influence the experience. The result is less a frictionless checklist of open-world activities than a simulation whose routines and setbacks are part of the role-play.
Is Kingdom Come: Deliverance II worth playing?
It is worth considering if you enjoy patient RPG progression, historical atmosphere and systems that reward observation and practice. If you want immediate empowerment, forgiving travel and saving, or a world that asks little maintenance of you, the same design may feel like needless obstruction. That audience assessment follows from published reviews, not firsthand testing for this article.

In The Guardian’s review, published February 5, 2025 and amended March 23 to correct the setting to the 15th century, Tom Regan describes a harsh opening and an arduous rise in Henry’s capabilities. Regan reported having played more than 115 hours without completing the main quest at the time of publication; that is the reviewer’s personal playtime, not an estimate of how long the game takes to finish. He summed up the appeal and difficulty this way: “I became utterly immersed in this brutally believable simulation – even when it was kicking my arse.”
Is the combat hard?
Expect combat to involve learning, not just improving a character sheet. PC Gamer’s review describes angle-based attacks, combos, positioning and reading enemy behavior as elements of mastery. In practical terms, progression includes understanding how to fight and respond to opponents as well as developing Henry. Whether that feels satisfying or frustrating will depend on how much you enjoy a combat system with a learning curve; the available review evidence does not support calling it universally easy or hard.

What platforms is Kingdom Come: Deliverance II on?
The game released on February 4, 2025. The PlayStation product page lists the PS5 version, while GameSpot lists PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X. Deep Silver says the console versions were developed alongside the PC version and limits the game to PC and ninth-generation consoles; this is not a listing for older console generations.

Steam’s listed minimum requirements are a baseline, not a promise of a particular resolution or frame rate on a given setup. Compare every component, including storage type, with the current Steam listing.

What to know about controls, accessibility and offline play
Deep Silver’s Technical FAQ says the PC version supports Xbox controllers, DualShock controllers over USB, and DualSense. It also lists HUD options for crosshair visibility, subtitle size, speaker names and subtitle contrast. The FAQ identifies the game as single-player and says offline play is supported; an internet connection is recommended for updates and additional content. Technical support details can change, so consult the FAQ for the current information.
