Deal ended: The WD_BLACK C50 2TB Xbox Storage Expansion Card was reported at $189.99 on Amazon US on December 26, 2024, advertised as 27% off and the card’s lowest price at that time. That was a historical US deal, not a current offer; check today’s retailer price before buying.
What the December 2024 deal offered
Neowin reported the 2TB WD_BLACK C50 at $189.99 on Amazon US on December 26, 2024, describing it as 27% off and the lowest price reported at that time. The percentage depends on the reference price used, so the actual deal price is the more useful comparison. This does not establish an all-time low across every retailer or region. Neowin’s deal report covered that promotion; Amazon listings can change price, seller, and availability after a sale ends.
Later coverage reported the WD card at $212.49 in April 2026, while a later Slickdeals listing showed $249.99 for the 2TB model. Those snapshots confirm that prices have varied; they are not a live price check. Technobezz’s April 2026 report and the Slickdeals listing are useful historical context, not evidence that either price is available now.

What the WD_BLACK C50 does
The C50 is a removable, officially licensed expansion card for Xbox Series X and Series S. It fits the console’s dedicated Storage Expansion slot, rather than a USB port, and is designed to provide performance similar to the console’s internal storage. Xbox says compatible expansion cards are designed to match internal-storage performance; WD’s product data sheet describes the C50’s performance as similar to internal storage. The practical benefit is that you can install and play Xbox Series X|S-optimized games directly from the card. That distinguishes it from a standard USB drive, which can store those games but generally cannot launch them; compatible backward-compatible titles can usually be played from USB. The C50 also supports Quick Resume, but individual games and circumstances can affect whether a title resumes as expected. WD lists a five-year limited warranty for the product; terms may vary by region and product revision. Check the applicable regional product listing and product data sheet for specifications and warranty terms.
Who should consider an expansion card?
It makes sense for frequent Series X|S players
- You regularly play current-generation games and want to keep more of them installed and ready to launch.
- You want additional storage without a cable or a transfer step before playing Series X|S-optimized games.
- You value a compact card and the internal-storage-like performance the Xbox and WD describe.
The advertised capacity is 2TB, but the space available to store games will be lower after formatting and system allocation. Game sizes vary with updates and installed content, so capacity does not translate into a fixed number of titles.

It may be unnecessary for a small or mostly archived library
If you keep only a few games installed, mainly play older backward-compatible titles, or want inexpensive space for games you rarely launch, a USB drive may be the better value. A card is also not a general storage upgrade for an Xbox One console. The C50 is intended for Series X|S, not Xbox One hardware. Confirm the console and the listing’s capacity before ordering; the 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB models are distinct products.

How it compares with Seagate’s Xbox card
Seagate’s Storage Expansion Card is the direct alternative in the same category: an officially supported card for direct play of Series X|S games. Deal coverage put Seagate’s 2TB model at $199.99 in November 2024 and reported a $184.76 low in November 2025. These are dated examples, not current prices. Compare the live price, capacity, seller, and warranty for both products rather than choosing by a discount percentage alone. Newer SanDisk-branded Xbox expansion products may also be relevant, but the available information here does not establish a complete, current US comparison of their price, availability, warranty, and specifications. How to install the C50
- Remove the card’s protective cover and keep it for storage or transport.
- Insert the card into the Storage Expansion slot on the rear of an Xbox Series X or Series S. Do not try to connect it to a USB port.
- When prompted, choose whether to use the card with one console or multiple consoles, then complete the on-screen setup.
- Check the console’s storage screen to confirm the card is recognized before moving games onto it.
These steps follow SanDisk’s setup instructions. If the card is not detected, reseat it and power-cycle the console; also check for system updates. Test the card directly in the expansion slot, without a USB hub or adapter. Those are practical checks, not a full manufacturer troubleshooting procedure.

How to judge a future sale
- Confirm that the listing is for the WD_BLACK C50 and the 2TB model, not a smaller capacity or a generic SSD.
- Check the current seller, final price, shipping, and return terms; a changed marketplace listing may not be the same offer.
- Compare the live price with Seagate’s compatible card and any other officially supported expansion cards available in your region.
- Choose USB storage instead if low-cost capacity or game archiving matters more than launching Series X|S games directly.
