Yes—you can play Xbox games on many Samsung devices without plugging in an Xbox console. Use the Xbox app in Samsung Gaming Hub on supported TVs, Smart Monitors and The Freestyle; open Xbox Cloud Gaming in a browser on a Galaxy phone or tablet; or use Xbox Remote Play to stream games installed on an Xbox you already own. Your route depends on the Samsung device, game, subscription, controller and network.
Choose the right Xbox-on-Samsung method

Cloud Gaming and Remote Play are not interchangeable. Cloud Gaming uses Microsoft’s catalog and service availability; Remote Play streams the games installed on your console.
What you need before starting
- A supported Samsung model, current firmware and a supported region. “Samsung device” does not mean every TV, phone or tablet supports Xbox.
- A Microsoft account with an Xbox profile.
- A compatible controller connected by Bluetooth or USB. Samsung lists Xbox, PlayStation and selected third-party controllers for Gaming Hub; recognition and individual features can vary by device and game (Samsung Gaming Hub controller list).
- A stable internet connection. Microsoft lists 10 Mbps download speed as a cloud-gaming minimum, says some devices may need 20 Mbps for best quality, and recommends 5 GHz Wi-Fi (Microsoft cloud-gaming requirements).
- For most cloud games, an eligible Game Pass plan. Supported free-to-play games, including Fortnite, can be available with a free Microsoft account in supported regions.
- For Remote Play, an Xbox One or Series X|S with remote features enabled and the desired game installed.
Play Xbox on a Samsung TV, Smart Monitor or Freestyle
Check compatibility first
The Xbox app is available on select 2020-and-newer Samsung Smart TVs. Samsung Gaming Hub is integrated into 2022-and-newer Samsung Smart TVs and select Smart Monitors and projectors, including The Freestyle. Model, firmware, country setting and app availability determine whether the service appears. Samsung says 2020 and 2021 TVs have various streaming services, so check the TV’s app store instead of assuming Xbox support. See Microsoft’s supported-TV information and Samsung’s Xbox app listing.

- Install available TV or monitor firmware updates using the device’s normal software-update menu. Labels differ by model.
- Pair an Xbox Wireless Controller or another supported gamepad over Bluetooth, or connect a supported wired controller by USB. Samsung’s list includes Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One controllers, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, Xbox Adaptive Controller, DualShock 4 and DualSense, plus selected third-party pads.
- Open Gaming Hub. On supported devices, Samsung says to move to the controller icon on the left side of the home screen; software revisions can change its location.
- Select Xbox from Gaming Hub or the TV app area. If it is absent, search the app store directly.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account connected to your Xbox profile and subscription.
- Choose a title marked as cloud playable and start it. The game is streamed, not installed locally on the TV.
Gaming Hub itself is a free interface; Game Pass, purchased games, internet service and a controller are separate costs. Depending on device configuration, Samsung account setup may be required for smart services or partner apps (Samsung account and TV guidance).

If the Xbox app is missing
- Confirm the exact model number and model year.
- Update the firmware.
- Check the TV’s country or region setting.
- Complete Smart Hub or Samsung account setup if requested.
- Search the app store and compare the model with Microsoft’s current supported-TV page.
- If the model is unsupported, use Xbox.com/play on another device or connect an Xbox or PC over HDMI.
Play Xbox on a Galaxy phone or tablet
Microsoft’s current mobile guidance points Galaxy users to browser-based Cloud Gaming. Supported Android phones and tablets generally need Android 12 or later, with device and regional availability applying. Older Samsung pages may mention an Xbox Game Pass app; app naming and availability can vary, so the browser workflow is the dependable default.
- Pair a controller by Bluetooth or USB. A phone clip, integrated phone controller or USB-C gamepad can make handheld play easier.
- Open a supported browser and go to https://www.xbox.com/play.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account that has the required subscription, or a free account for an eligible free-to-play game.
- Browse the cloud-enabled library and select Play.
- Use touch controls only when the title displays the Play with touch label or touch icon. Touch support is not universal.
Mobile data can incur carrier charges and may fluctuate in congested or weak-signal areas. For a larger screen, Samsung documents connecting a Galaxy phone to a compatible display with DeX; this changes the viewing setup, not where the game runs (Samsung DeX guidance).

Samsung Galaxy Books and other Samsung Windows PCs can use Xbox Cloud Gaming through a supported browser or the Xbox PC ecosystem. That is standard Windows/Xbox compatibility, not a Samsung-exclusive integration.

Use Xbox Remote Play from Samsung
Remote Play is the better answer when you own an Xbox and want your personal installed library. Microsoft streams games installed on your Xbox One or Series X|S; it does not use the cloud catalog in the same way as Cloud Gaming.

Requirements
- Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S connected to the internet.
- Remote features enabled on the console and the console powered on or configured for the required standby mode.
- The game installed on that console.
- A compatible Samsung phone, tablet, supported TV or other supported device.
- A compatible controller and a connection meeting Microsoft’s guidance, including 5 GHz Wi-Fi or mobile data and a 10 Mbps download connection (Xbox Remote Play requirements).
Steps
- On the Xbox, enable remote features in the console settings.
- Install the game you want to play.
- On the Samsung device, open xbox.com/play and sign in.
- Open the menu and choose Remote Play.
- Follow the prompts to connect to the console, then pair the controller with the Samsung device.
- Launch the installed game.
Which Game Pass plan fits Samsung play?
Microsoft’s U.S. page, as presented on August 18, 2026, lists the following plan positioning. Prices on that page rendered as placeholders, so verify the live checkout page rather than relying on an older dollar amount.

These counts and benefits can change. A plan’s total catalog is not the same as its cloud catalog: titles vary by plan, region, platform and time, and games can leave. Some cloud-playable titles may be sold separately. Check the current library at xbox.com/play and plan details at Xbox Game Pass.

Controllers that work best
An official Xbox Wireless Controller is the least complicated choice for both Gaming Hub and Remote Play. Samsung also lists Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, Xbox Adaptive Controller, DualShock 4, DualSense and selected PDP, Logitech, PowerA/MOGA, Joytron, Nvidia Shield and Amazon Luna controllers. Compatibility can differ by model, connection method and provider; a detected controller does not guarantee identical headset, vibration or button behavior in every game.

- Phone or tablet: use a Bluetooth pad with a phone clip, an integrated mount controller or a USB-C controller.
- Touch play: limited to games displaying Microsoft’s touch label.
Do not assume every generic Bluetooth gamepad will work.

Improve streaming quality and response
- Use 5 GHz Wi-Fi near the router; 2.4 GHz reaches farther but is often more congested.
- Prefer Ethernet for a TV or monitor when practical.
- Pause 4K video, downloads, video calls and cloud backups on the same network.
- Reduce distance and obstacles between a mobile device and router.
- Remember that bandwidth is not latency. Jitter, routing to the cloud region, wireless interference and server demand can cause delay even above 10 Mbps.
- Restart the router and device if a session degrades, then test at another time.
Cloud streaming can also be affected by Microsoft service availability, wait times, region, game and device limitations. If instant response is essential, a locally connected console is more dependable.

Which route should you choose?
- No Xbox console: use Gaming Hub on a supported Samsung TV or Xbox.com/play on a Galaxy device.
- You own an Xbox: try Remote Play for your installed games, especially titles unavailable in Cloud Gaming.
- Lowest latency: connect the Xbox by HDMI and play locally.
- Portable play: use a Galaxy phone or tablet with a controller clip or integrated controller.
- Unreliable internet: local console play is preferable to either streaming method.
