Bottom line: Intel’s confirmed consumer Battlemage lineup is the Arc B580 and B570. Intel has not officially announced or released a consumer Arc B770, while the B780 remains an even less substantiated rumor. The larger BMG-G31 design did reach retail as the professional Arc Pro B70, but that does not make the B70 a gaming B770 or confirm that a consumer version is coming.
What Battlemage is
Battlemage is Intel’s second-generation discrete Arc architecture, built around Xe2 cores, XMX AI engines, updated ray-tracing hardware and XeSS 2 support. Intel uses the Arc B-series name for consumer graphics and Arc Pro branding for workstation and AI-inference products. The two lines can share underlying silicon while differing in memory, firmware, power limits, drivers, validation and software support.
The smaller BMG-G21 configuration is associated with the released B580/B570 family. The larger BMG-G31 configuration became central to B770 rumors and is now documented in professional products, especially the Arc Pro B70. A die or platform identifier is not itself a retail product name.

The Arc B770 story
Why the rumor exists
B770 reports draw on Linux/Mesa development, Intel driver and firmware references, and reporting about BMG-G31. Mesa added recognition for larger Battlemage variants, while compute-runtime records identify the Arc Pro B70 as a 32-Xe-core BMG-G31 device with PCI ID 0xe223. Those records show that Intel supported the larger configuration in software and hardware; they do not prove that a consumer board was approved, manufactured for retail or scheduled.

Was it canceled?
The defensible status is unannounced and unavailable, not definitively canceled. Reports have described the high-end consumer product as delayed, canceled, repurposed or still possible, but Intel has not published a consumer B770 announcement or cancellation statement. B780 is substantially less substantiated than B770. There is no verified Intel product page, newsroom announcement, driver release note or formal specification for an Arc B780 in the available evidence. The name mostly comes from extrapolating the previous A770 label, hypothetical BMG-G31 segmentation and assumed clock or power increases. Treat it as a rumor label, not a delayed product with known specifications or a launch date. Intel community discussion likewise does not amount to an announcement: Intel Community.

Arc Pro B50, B60, B65 and B70 explained
Arc Pro B50
Intel lists 16 Xe cores, 16 ray-tracing units, 128 XMX engines, 16 GB GDDR6, a 128-bit interface, 224 GB/s bandwidth, 70 W TBP, PCIe 5.0 x8 and no external power connector. That makes it suited to compact workstations, multi-display systems and moderate inference—not a replacement for a high-end gaming card.
Arc Pro B60 and B65
Intel’s reference guide lists the B60 with 20 Xe cores, 20 ray-tracing units, 160 XMX engines, 24 GB GDDR6, a 192-bit interface, 456 GB/s bandwidth and a 120–200 W total-board-power range. The B65 keeps 20 Xe cores and 160 XMX engines but provides 32 GB, 608 GB/s bandwidth and 200 W TBP.

Arc Pro B70
Intel specifies 32 Xe cores, 32 ray-tracing units, 256 XMX engines, 32 GB GDDR6 ECC, a 256-bit interface, 608 GB/s bandwidth, a 2,800 MHz maximum dynamic clock, 22.94 FP32 TFLOPS, 367 INT8 TOPS, 230 W TBP, PCIe 5.0 x16, four display outputs, DP2.1 up to UHBR 13.5, two media engines and a three-year warranty period. Its product page lists Q1 2026 as the launch period.
FP32 TFLOPS and INT8 TOPS are theoretical compute figures, not gaming frame rates. Independent Linux testing found that the B70 was not automatically a high-end gaming solution, including continuing issues in some Vulkan ray-tracing workloads: testing overview and ray-tracing results.

Is the Arc Pro B70 a B770 in disguise?
- Same broad family: yes, both are Battlemage-related.
- Large BMG-G31 configuration: supported for the B70.
- Official gaming B770: no.
- Equivalent gaming performance: unproven.
Professional firmware, ECC memory, power limits, board design, drivers and application validation can all differ from a consumer card. B70 specifications therefore provide clues about BMG-G31, not a review of a nonexistent B770.
Verified timeline
- December 3, 2024: Intel announced B580 and B570; B580 availability began December 13 at a $249 starting price.
- January 16, 2025: B570 availability was scheduled from $219.
- May 19, 2025: Intel announced Arc Pro B50 and B60 for workstations and AI inference: Intel announcement.
- May–June 2025: Mesa work exposed additional Battlemage identifiers, fueling but not confirming B770 speculation.
- January 2026: Firmware and BMG-G31 reporting revived B770 claims without an official launch.
- Q1 2026: Intel lists Arc Pro B70 as launched.
- March 2026: Intel’s reference guide listed B65 and B70.
- August 18, 2026: no consumer B770 or B780 had been officially announced or released.
Should you wait?
For gamers
If you need a confirmed Intel gaming card now, evaluate the B580 or B570. Intel announced the B580 at $249 and B570 from $219, but those are historical launch prices rather than guaranteed current street prices. Check game-specific driver behavior, especially for demanding ray tracing and day-one releases.
Do not wait indefinitely for an unannounced B770 or B780 if you need a GPU, a known price, a warranty and predictable performance. Do not buy a B70 solely as a gaming substitute; its professional positioning and pricing can make the value proposition entirely different.

Consider the Pro range when ECC, memory capacity, multi-GPU validation, XMX, oneAPI or OpenVINO matter. INT8 TOPS are not interchangeable with CUDA performance, and multi-GPU scaling depends on the framework and workload. The B50’s 70 W TBP and connector-free design suit compact systems; the B70’s 230 W TBP and 32 GB ECC memory target substantially larger professional workloads.
For Linux users
Intel’s open driver work explains why BMG-G31 appeared in Mesa and compute-runtime records, but software support does not guarantee equivalent gaming results. Verify the current kernel, Mesa version, Vulkan features and application compatibility before choosing a Pro card.
