gamescom Opening Night Live 2024 aired on August 20, 2024, with Geoff Keighley presenting just over two hours of new reveals, release-date news, gameplay and updates. The show announced seven new games, dated major releases including Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and featured a substantial Xbox and Game Pass lineup.
What the 2024 show covered
The presentation combined debut announcements with trailers and updates for already revealed games. Contemporary coverage from GameSpot highlighted Borderlands 4, the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle release-date reveal and Infinity Nikki among the surprises. The available event reports do not establish a reliable audience or viewership figure.

Biggest new reveals
Borderlands 4 supplied the most commercially prominent sequel announcement, while Directive 8020, Revenge of the Savage Planet, Reanimal and King of Meat established the show’s broader mix of horror, co-op and adventure games. Dying Light: The Beast stood apart as a standalone return for Kyle Crane, and Masters of Albion marked Peter Molyneux’s self-funded return to the god-game format.
