This headline refers to a historical connectivity incident first reported on April 22, 2019, not a verified EA outage today. Players reported problems connecting to Apex Legends, Anthem, Battlefield and FIFA 19, but the available record does not establish that every game, platform or region was affected. For a live problem, check EA’s server-status page and your platform’s service status before troubleshooting.
What happened in the reported EA outage?
A preserved report dates the original story to April 22, 2019 and names Apex Legends, Anthem, Battlefield and FIFA 19. Players reported being unable to connect and cited error codes including 100, 918, 721 and 524. That supports describing a cross-title connectivity incident reported by players; it does not prove that all EA games went offline at once or that the same platforms and regions were affected. The archived page also contains updates dated in 2019, 2021 and 2022. Those are separate later entries, not evidence of one outage continuing across those years. That history does not establish a new outage on September 28, 2026. A connection error seen now needs to be checked against current EA and platform status information.

One player’s error message cannot distinguish a broad outage from an account, platform or home-network problem. Check in this order:

- Check EA’s status page. Look for the affected game and service: EA server status. EA directs players with connection trouble to check service availability before trying local fixes.
- Check your platform’s service status. Review PlayStation Network, Xbox network, Nintendo online services or Steam, as applicable. An interruption at the platform layer can prevent an EA game from connecting even if EA’s service is available.
- Check official game and EA communications. An official notice can clarify a regional, platform-specific or game-specific incident that a general status page may not make clear.
- Use outage-reporting sites as a signal, not confirmation. A spike on Downdetector’s EA page reflects user reports, not EA’s internal service telemetry. No spike does not rule out a limited regional or account-specific problem.
Multiple unrelated EA games failing for people on different platforms, alongside an official incident notice, is stronger outage evidence than one error code. If only one account, game, platform or home connection is affected, investigate that layer instead.

What to try first if you cannot connect
1. Check EA and platform status
Start with the status checks above. If EA or the platform confirms an incident affecting your game or service, wait for updates rather than making invasive changes to your network or reinstalling the game.

2. Restart the game and system
Close the game completely, restart the console or PC, then launch it again. EA lists restarting the game and system among its first Apex Legends error-code troubleshooting steps. EA’s Apex Legends error-code guidance
3. Refresh your home connection
Restart your modem/router and reconnect. EA community support has also recommended unplugging a router for several minutes when connection trouble persists; this refresh can help with a local network problem, but it cannot repair an EA-side outage. EA community troubleshooting discussion

4. Compare with another network
If practical, briefly test using a different connection, such as a phone hotspot. If the game connects there but not on your home network, that points toward the home connection or its route to the service. This is a diagnostic test, not a guaranteed fix, and mobile data may incur charges.
5. Check account details if Apex shows code 100
Compare the time zone and date-of-birth information on your EA Account and linked platform account. EA identifies a mismatch between these settings as one possible cause of Apex Legends code 100. EA’s Apex Legends error-code guidance

6. Stabilize the connection and update the client
- Where possible, try a wired connection to help rule out Wi-Fi interference or instability. EA’s connection guide recommends wired networking where available. EA’s connection troubleshooting guide
- Install available updates for the game and, on PC, the launcher you use. For EA app errors, follow the relevant launcher steps in EA app troubleshooting. Repairing game files may help with damaged or missing files, but launcher menus differ.
When to stop troubleshooting
If EA or your platform reports an outage, or several unrelated games and players are affected at the same time, wait for service updates. Repeated reinstalls, DNS changes, port forwarding and factory resets will not restore a failed backend service. They can also add new problems: DNS changes address some resolver or routing issues, not server failure, and you should record existing settings before changing them. VPNs can alter routing but may increase latency or cause security and matchmaking issues; port forwarding is specific to a game, platform and router, and should not be guessed.
If status pages show services operating and the problem remains limited to one setup, use EA’s connection troubleshooting guide to narrow down account, platform and network causes. For older games such as FIFA 19 or Anthem, check whether online service is still available for the specific game and platform before treating inability to connect as a temporary outage; EA notes that older games may no longer have online servers.
