Unofficial fan guides consistently point to ore choice for damage and traits, while total ore count helps target a weapon or armor category. The practical picks below are reported examples—not guarantees—and should be checked against the current in-game forge preview because recipe stats, probabilities and even recipe variants can change.
How crafting recipes work
Community guides describe forging as placing ores in a crucible and completing a crafting minigame. Ore types are credited with changing damage multipliers and special traits; the number of ores is used to influence the resulting weapon or armor class. Mid-game straight sword: 3 Rivalite + 3 Ruby
The Forge Database reports approximately 61 damage and 20% critical chance for this six-ore mix. The Forge Roblox Wiki lists 61.23 base damage and 20% critical chance. It is a practical mid-game example when Darkryte and Magmaite are not yet available. Straight swords are described by the guide as versatile, so this recipe suits general progression rather than a specialized status build.
Late-game straight sword: 4 Darkryte + 2 Magmaite
The Database reports approximately 114 damage and associates Magmaite with an area-explosion effect. The Wiki gives 114.40 base damage and describes a 50% explosion effect with a 35% chance. Those figures come from separate unofficial pages and should not be treated as a guaranteed in-game roll. This recipe also assumes access to both rare ores.

Status-effect katana: check the live recipe before forging
The Database lists 5 Magmaite + 3 Eye Ore + 3 Fireite + 1 Darkryte (12 ores) for roughly 87 damage with burn and explosion effects. Another fan page lists a similar mix with 2 Darkryte (13 ores) and different statistics. Do not combine the two versions: compare the exact ingredients and preview currently shown in your forge. Katanas are described as balanced weapons, making this an effects-oriented option rather than a universal damage winner.
Mid-game gauntlet: 3 Magmaite + 3 Fireite + 2 Rivalite + 1 Eye Ore
Fan pages report approximately 84 damage with explosion, burn and critical effects for this nine-ore mix. The estimate is useful for a hybrid build, but the guides do not establish a definitive gauntlet best-in-slot recipe.

1. Start with ores you can replace
Use Rivalite and Ruby for a mid-game sword example; reserve Darkryte and Magmaite for a late-game attempt only when you can afford a failed category roll or a changed recipe.
2. Decide whether you want raw damage or effects
Damage-focused mixes favor the reported Darkryte/Magmaite sword. Burn and explosion mixes, such as the katana or gauntlet examples, trade a single damage figure for area or status utility. Critical chance is another separate goal rather than an automatic upgrade to every build.

3. Check attack behavior, not damage alone
Compare the displayed damage with attack speed, range and handling. The fan guide characterizes katanas as balanced, straight swords as versatile and colossal weapons as high-power options; a slower weapon may not outperform a faster one for your actual fights.
4. Confirm the class and preview
Before pressing forge, verify the current ore count, predicted category, displayed traits and any warning about probability. Published tables conflict, so the in-game preview is more relevant than an older guide screenshot.
5. Treat the minigame as part of the craft
Complete the forging minigame carefully because the Database guide says it can affect quality. The sources do not provide a validated scoring formula.
