Yes, but only in a limited sense. Quest software v51, first reported by Public Test Channel (PTC) users in April 2023, made a curated selection of previously purchased Oculus Go and Gear VR titles reappear on some Quest 2 headsets. It did not restore the entire Oculus Go catalog, and reports from 2023 do not prove that the same access remains available in Meta’s 2026 software.
The short answer
Quest 2 v51 appears to have restored access to roughly 50–60 legacy titles that had already been selected for compatibility with the original Oculus Quest. Owners generally saw eligible purchases in the headset’s Uninstalled library area and could download them. This was a curated compatibility layer, not universal Oculus Go backward compatibility.
The clearest contemporary evidence came from user reports rather than a prominent Meta release-note announcement. Meta’s later PTC discussion acknowledged issues uncovered during v51 testing, but did not clearly document permanent Go support as a headline feature: Meta’s PTC v53 discussion.
How Quest, Quest 2 and Go compatibility changed
Oculus Go used three-degrees-of-freedom (3DOF) tracking and simpler input. The original Oculus Quest supported a limited set of Go applications, with contemporary lists commonly describing about 50 titles. Quest 2 launched on October 13, 2020 without the original Quest’s visible Go-compatibility library; reporting at the time said Meta had dropped that support. In v51, PTC users began reporting that part of this older compatibility path had returned. The restoration was therefore notable, but it should be understood as re-exposure of selected legacy software rather than a new emulator that makes every Go app run.
Which Oculus Go games were included?
The following are examples from the historical Quest-compatible selection and v51-era reports. They are not a current guarantee of availability on every account or firmware version.

Lists described as approximately 50 or 60 games differ because they come from different dates and definitions of compatibility. Treat any such list as a dated reference, not an official current total. The contemporary user thread documenting titles in the Uninstalled section is available on Reddit.

Reports indicate that the restored entries were normally tied to existing Oculus or Meta entitlements. Use the same Meta account that held the original Go or Gear VR purchase. A title appearing as owned generally meant it could be downloaded without buying it again, but ownership alone did not guarantee that the app would appear or still install.

- A purchase may be associated with a different Meta account than the one on your Quest 2.
- A Go or Gear VR title may be outside the curated Quest-compatible set.
- The app may have been delisted or its legacy installation path removed.
- A separate native Quest edition may require a new purchase or a separate entitlement.
Earlier compatibility arrangements also used a separate legacy-library area rather than presenting every Go title as a normal Quest Store product. Do not assume that searching the current headset store will reveal all historical purchases.
How to look for eligible titles
These were the v51-era steps reported by users. Meta can change labels and library organization, so your 2026 interface may differ.

- Install the relevant Quest software update and confirm the headset reports v51 or a later version.
- Verify that the headset and Meta mobile app are signed in to the account used for the original Go or Gear VR purchase.
- Open the headset’s app library.
- Check Uninstalled and any legacy Go/Gear VR category that appears.
- Select an owned, listed title and choose the install option.
- If nothing appears, restart the headset, reopen the library, and allow time for entitlements to synchronize.
You can also review your account’s historical purchases in Meta’s mobile or web account interfaces. A title missing from all locations may simply not be in the supported set, rather than indicating a failed update.

What “supports” means technically
A Go title running on Quest 2 is usually a legacy application, not a native Quest 2 port. Go’s 3DOF assumptions differ from Quest’s six-degrees-of-freedom (6DOF) tracking and Touch-controller input. Depending on the app, you may encounter:

- single-controller or touchpad-style interaction mapped to Quest controls;
- 3DOF-style menus or aiming rather than room-scale movement;
- missing modern Quest features and lower-fidelity visuals;
- incorrect field of view, alignment or rendering;
- launch, loading or comfort problems after later firmware changes.
Some Go software had been adapted for the original Quest with 6DOF controls; other titles remained essentially 3DOF experiences. A successful installation therefore does not promise a modern Quest-quality experience. Oculus Go’s standalone design is described by Meta at Meta’s historical Oculus Go announcement.
Does this cover Gear VR games?
Go and Gear VR shared portions of their software and account infrastructure, and some users reported Gear VR purchases appearing alongside Go titles. However, “Gear VR compatible” is not synonymous with “Quest 2 compatible.” The v51 behavior appears to concern a curated legacy set, not a universal Gear VR emulator. Your entire Gear VR library should not be expected to transfer.
Why a title may be missing or unusable

What about sideloading unsupported Go APKs?
Community users have described manually installing some unsupported Go applications, but that is outside Meta’s supported path. It can produce broken controls, loading failures, incorrect visuals or licensing and account problems. Only use software you lawfully own and obtain files from legitimate sources; sideloading does not turn an unsupported title into a compatible one.
Should you rely on v51 compatibility today?
As of the available information dated August 16, 2026, there is no established guarantee that Meta still exposes the v51 library in exactly the same way. Try the feature when you already own a title and can confirm it appears in your account. Do not buy a Quest 2 solely on the assumption that a particular Go game will work.
- Best case: the game is on the historical list, uses the same Meta account and installs from the legacy library.
- Consider an original Quest: it had the strongest historical connection to the curated Go-compatibility feature, though used hardware brings battery, controller and support risks.
- Consider a native Quest port: it is usually more reliable and may provide modern tracking and controls, but may have a separate entitlement.
- Keep an Oculus Go only for preservation: it is discontinued and lacks the current Quest platform, so it is a specialist solution rather than a general VR recommendation.
- Choose Quest 3 or Quest 3S for current software: these are modern-platform purchases, not guarantees of Go-library preservation. Official pages are Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
Bottom line
Quest 2 v51 did restore limited access to a curated selection of Oculus Go and some Gear VR titles, usually for people who already owned them. It never meant that the whole Go catalog became backward-compatible. The decisive checks are the specific title, the purchasing account, the headset’s software and Meta’s current store behavior; even an app that appears may still have legacy tracking or control problems.
