NVIDIA’s January 15, 2026 GeForce NOW update added the Ubisoft Connect version of Star Wars Outlaws, while also listing the game as available through Xbox PC Game Pass. The Steam version had already been supported, according to contemporaneous coverage. This was a storefront and access expansion—not a confirmed remaster, new edition, or game patch—and NVIDIA listed eight other additions that week.
What changed for Star Wars Outlaws?
The meaningful change was support for another PC distribution route. NVIDIA announced the Ubisoft Connect version on January 15, 2026, and said the title was then available through Xbox Game Pass. A contemporaneous report says the Steam version was already playable on GeForce NOW.
In this context, “versions” means supported PC storefront entitlements:
- Steam: Previously supported, according to Android Headlines’ contemporaneous report.
- Ubisoft Connect: The new storefront route identified in NVIDIA’s January 15 announcement.
- PC Game Pass: A subscription-based access route for eligible subscribers, not permanent ownership of a copy.
NVIDIA did not describe a new edition, remaster, console-generation upgrade, or patch as the reason for the update.

The free-offer wording for the two Styx games described the Epic Games Store promotion on January 15; it did not mean that every game in the GeForce NOW catalog was free.
Do you get Star Wars Outlaws for free?
No general free entitlement was announced. GeForce NOW supplies the remote gaming hardware and stream; you still need a supported license or subscription entitlement.

- Buy and own the PC version through Ubisoft Connect or Steam.
- Use an eligible Xbox PC Game Pass subscription in a supported region.
- Use another explicitly active promotion or entitlement, if one applies to your account.
Game Pass access ends if the relevant subscription or catalog license is no longer available. Owning an Xbox console copy does not automatically establish ownership of the supported PC version.

What “Xbox Game Pass” means here
NVIDIA’s wording referred to the game being available on Xbox Game Pass, but that should be read as a PC access question when launching through GeForce NOW. It is not automatically the same as console Game Pass ownership or Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Compatibility can depend on the Game Pass tier, country, Microsoft account, licensing terms and the storefront integration presented in GeForce NOW. NVIDIA’s current feature notes describe supported Xbox/Game Pass connections, but do not establish that every tier or region works identically. Check the route shown in your GeForce NOW client before subscribing solely for this game.
What you need to play
- A GeForce NOW account and a supported membership option.
- A supported PC, Mac, Chromebook, mobile device, browser or selected TV. NVIDIA’s current service information is available at its GeForce NOW overview; device support can change.
- A stable internet connection suitable for cloud streaming.
- The matching Steam, Ubisoft, or Microsoft account and its game entitlement.
- A compatible controller, or keyboard and mouse where supported.
You do not need a high-end local gaming PC because the game renders in NVIDIA’s data centers. Your device still has to decode the stream reliably, and network quality affects latency and image stability.

How to launch the Ubisoft Connect version
- Open GeForce NOW and sign in to your NVIDIA account.
- Go to Settings → Connections.
- Link or reconnect your Ubisoft account so GeForce NOW can synchronize the supported library. NVIDIA documents this connection flow in its release highlights.
- Search for Star Wars Outlaws in GeForce NOW.
- Choose the Ubisoft Connect listing or the Ubisoft account prompt shown by the client.
- Authenticate with Ubisoft if prompted, then launch the game.
Button labels and prompts can change between client versions. The important requirement is that the Ubisoft account used for the purchase is the one connected under Connections.

If you use PC Game Pass
- Confirm that your subscription includes the PC entitlement in your country.
- Sign in to the Microsoft/Xbox account connected to GeForce NOW.
- Search for the game in the GeForce NOW catalog.
- Select the Xbox or Game Pass route if it appears.
- Complete any account authorization request, then launch.
Do not assume that a console-only plan, a console purchase or Xbox Cloud Gaming access supplies the PC entitlement required by this route.

Which storefront makes sense?

Membership tiers do not choose the game version
There is no evidence that Free, Priority or Ultimate selects a different Star Wars Outlaws build. Your storefront license or Game Pass entitlement determines whether the game can launch; the GeForce NOW tier primarily changes queue access, session conditions and streaming performance.
- Free: Lowest commitment, but queues and session restrictions may be inconvenient for a long single-player game.
- Priority: A middle option for more consistent access without the highest-tier features.
- Ultimate: Intended for users who prioritize the highest available streaming quality and supported high-end cloud hardware.
NVIDIA previously promoted RTX features such as DLSS 3.5, Reflex and ray tracing for Star Wars Outlaws with Ultimate in an earlier announcement (NVIDIA’s RTX announcement). That is a performance statement, not a requirement for the Ubisoft Connect version. A later PC update added DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation for RTX users (NVIDIA’s DLSS 4 announcement); it should not be treated as a guarantee for every GeForce NOW tier, device or region.
When the game does not appear or launch
- Check that you selected the storefront you actually own.
- Reconnect the Ubisoft, Microsoft or Steam account under GeForce NOW’s Connections settings.
- Verify that the purchase is on the same account you linked.
- Search the full GeForce NOW catalog instead of relying only on “My Library.”
- Confirm regional availability and that your subscription still includes the PC entitlement.
- End the current cloud session completely and start a new one.
- If the title is listed but fails to launch, consult NVIDIA’s current status and support channels.
Why some headlines show January 23
Android Headlines displays a January 23, 2026 publication date while describing Ubisoft Connect availability from January 15. NVIDIA’s official weekly announcement is dated January 15, so that is the relevant rollout date. “Today” in the original headline is historical wording, not a claim that this lineup first arrived on the current date.

Bottom line for each type of player
- Ubisoft owner: Link Ubisoft under Settings → Connections and use that entitlement.
- Steam owner: Continue launching the Steam version; the storefront expansion does not require a second purchase.
- PC Game Pass subscriber: Check whether the Game Pass route appears for your Microsoft account and region.
- No entitlement: Compare buying the PC version with subscribing to PC Game Pass; GeForce NOW membership alone does not include the game.
