Yes—World of Warcraft addon support is already live on GeForce NOW. NVIDIA and CurseForge launched it on August 15, 2024. The service offers a curated catalog of more than 25 popular addons through an in-game menu, not unrestricted access to every CurseForge download or a way to install arbitrary files.
What GeForce NOW’s WoW support actually provides
GeForce NOW runs your WoW client on NVIDIA’s remote hardware. Its CurseForge integration delivers a selected set of addons into that cloud session, so you do not manage the remote addon folder yourself. NVIDIA describes categories including interface customization, combat tools, action bars and quest helpers. The announcement is available at NVIDIA’s launch post.
Players generally call these packages addons, rather than “mods.” This is not Steam Workshop-style modding and it is not a full CurseForge browser. NVIDIA says the catalog contains more than 25 top addons; it has not published a permanent, exhaustive list that guarantees every popular addon.
How to enable addons
- Launch World of Warcraft through GeForce NOW.
- Open the WoW menu and select the Addons button.
- Choose individual addons, or use the option to enable all addons currently offered for that session.
- Start or resume the game and check the addon’s normal in-game interface.
NVIDIA says CurseForge handles delivery and automatic updates, selected addons are remembered between launches, and a separate CurseForge account is not required. Interface labels can change, so use the current Addons control shown in your session.

Which WoW versions are covered?
NVIDIA’s August 2024 announcement named modern (Retail) World of Warcraft, WoW Classic and Cataclysm Classic. Availability is still version-dependent: an addon must support the particular WoW client you launch, and an addon shown for Retail is not automatically available or compatible in a Classic-era client. Treat the catalog displayed in your own Addons menu as authoritative.
What you cannot assume will work
- The entire CurseForge catalog: GeForce NOW’s offering is curated, not unlimited.
- Manual file installation: you cannot assume that copying an addon folder, editing Lua/XML files or importing files from your computer will reach the remote WoW installation.
- Local addon managers: installing CurseForge or WoWUp on your Chromebook, laptop or handheld does not inject addons into the GeForce NOW machine. CurseForge’s local app is documented at curseforge.com/download/app; WoWUp is at wowup.io.
- Every niche or private addon: specialist tools and custom packages may simply be absent.
Launch-era coverage specifically reported SimulationCraft and TradeSkillMaster as unavailable. That is historical evidence, not a guarantee that their status has never changed; check your current in-session catalog before relying on it.

Popular addon questions need an in-session check
Players commonly ask about Deadly Boss Mods, BigWigs, WeakAuras, Details!, Auctionator, TomTom, HandyNotes, AllTheThings, VuhDo and Decursive. NVIDIA has not published a permanent complete list in the launch announcement, and community posts have reported addons appearing, disappearing or differing by version. Do not treat a forum list as confirmation. Open the Addons menu in the exact Retail, Classic or Cataclysm Classic session you plan to play.

Which GeForce NOW plans qualify?
Plan names and eligibility have changed since launch. NVIDIA’s 2024 announcement described access for Priority and Ultimate members, including Day Pass users. NVIDIA’s current FAQ identifies Performance or Ultimate memberships for the WoW addon feature: current GeForce NOW FAQ. Check the current US membership page, GeForce NOW membership plans, immediately before subscribing. Do not assume that a free tier includes the feature.

What persists—and what may not
NVIDIA confirms that selected addon choices are remembered between launches and that updates are handled automatically. That does not promise indefinite persistence for every WeakAuras import, saved-variable file, profile, manually edited file or third-party data package. Keep copies of important configurations and verify them after client, addon or service changes.
Troubleshooting a missing addon
- Confirm that your GeForce NOW membership is one of the currently eligible tiers.
- Launch the intended WoW version rather than assuming the Retail catalog applies to Classic.
- Open Addons and search the catalog presented there.
- Restart the GeForce NOW session if the menu is incomplete or an update appears stuck.
- Check NVIDIA support information or service status if the feature itself is unavailable.
- If an addon that used to appear has vanished, treat that as a possible catalog, compatibility or maintenance change—not proof that your local installation failed.
Installing CurseForge locally will not expand the cloud catalog. Community reports have described missing addons such as VuhDo or Decursive, but those reports do not establish the current list.

Who should use GeForce NOW for WoW?
Good fit
- Players on Chromebooks, SHIELD TVs, handhelds or low-powered laptops that cannot run WoW comfortably.
- Casual, returning or leveling players who need common interface, map, combat or utility addons.
- Players willing to trade a complete addon library for cloud convenience.
Poor fit
- Raiders or Mythic+ players whose setup depends on niche tools, private packages or large custom configurations.
- Anyone who edits addon files, controls exact versions and load order, or needs arbitrary CurseForge downloads.
- Players expecting WoWUp or local CurseForge workflows to work against the remote file system.
GeForce NOW versus running WoW locally
A local PC installation gives you the full CurseForge catalog, manual installation, custom edits and direct control of profiles and files. GeForce NOW removes the need to install or maintain the game on your device, but its addon catalog and cloud environment impose the limits described above. You still need a World of Warcraft account and the applicable game subscription; GeForce NOW supplies streaming hardware rather than the game license. NVIDIA and CurseForge present the integration as an official GeForce NOW feature for WoW. Addon use remains subject to Blizzard’s rules and each addon’s terms; the integration should not be treated as a workaround for unsupported software.

The Bottom Line
GeForce NOW is now a practical WoW option for players who need mainstream addons on otherwise weak hardware. It is not a replacement for a local installation if your play depends on arbitrary addons, custom files or complete configuration control.
