The Logitech G PRO X 60 LIGHTSPEED gives competitive players a very small keyboard and more room for mouse movement, but it removes dedicated arrow, function and navigation keys to get there. KEYCONTROL and G-SHIFT can put many missing commands on layers; they cannot make those commands as immediate as physical keys. It makes the most sense if you already want a 60% layout and value wireless LIGHTSPEED. If you mainly want a compact keyboard, its premium positioning is harder to justify.
What is the Logitech G PRO X 60?
The G PRO X 60 is Logitech’s 60% wireless gaming keyboard, announced on April 9, 2024, with availability following later that month. It supports Logitech’s LIGHTSPEED USB receiver, Bluetooth and wired USB, and launched with GX Optical switches in linear or tactile versions. Logitech offered black, white and pink variants at launch. The company says it developed the keyboard with input from professional players; that describes its design process, not proof that it will improve a player’s results.
Logitech announced a U.S. launch MSRP of $179. That is a historical launch price, not a verified current price: current Logitech pricing and stock are not established here. Logitech’s launch announcement and official specifications for the linear model provide the product and specification details.
What does the 60% layout leave out?
The PRO X 60 keeps the main alphanumeric block but removes the dedicated function row, arrow keys, navigation cluster and number pad. That saves desk space, but it changes routine tasks as well as games: moving through spreadsheets, editing text, using browser navigation shortcuts or entering numbers may require a layer, a remap or a different workflow. There is a volume roller and media functionality, but no full set of dedicated media keys.

For an FPS player making broad mouse movements, the smaller footprint can leave more room on the desk. That is a practical layout benefit, not evidence of better aim or a universal competitive advantage. Players who need many commands at hand—or who regularly work with arrows and navigation keys—may find a 65%, TKL or full-size board more useful.
Can KEYCONTROL and G-SHIFT replace the missing keys?
They can make many commands accessible, but they do not add physical keys. In Logitech G HUB, KEYCONTROL lets you assign actions to layers; G-SHIFT provides an additional layer activated by a key you designate. For example, a player could keep WASD on its usual base layer and assign arrows, media commands or game abilities to a G-SHIFT layer.
This is most effective when you map a small set of commands you actually use. A large collection of layers can be harder to remember and easier to trigger accidentally than dedicated keys. Advanced assignments, macros, lighting and profiles rely on G HUB, so set up the keyboard and test your chosen game, operating system and workflow before relying on a custom layout. Logitech’s announcement describes the added layer, and Tom’s Hardware’s review discusses G-SHIFT configuration in G HUB.

Switches, construction and gaming hardware
GX Optical switch options
The board uses Logitech GX Optical switches, available as linear or tactile models. Logitech lists approximately 1.9 mm actuation distance, 50 ± 10 g actuation force, 4 ± 0.5 mm total travel and a 50-million-keypress durability rating. The company also specifies factory lubrication. These are manufacturer specifications, not a promise of faster play.
Linear switches move without a tactile bump; tactile switches provide a bump that some typists prefer as feedback. Optical describes how the switch registers a press; it does not by itself guarantee a perceptible advantage over other switch designs. Feel and sound also depend on the keycaps and stabilizers. Logitech’s linear specification sheet lists those measurements. Do not assume the switches can be freely replaced with standard mechanical hot-swap switches; Logitech’s cited specifications do not establish that capability.
Wireless, wired and latency
LIGHTSPEED uses the included USB receiver and is the intended mode for gaming; Bluetooth is convenient for pairing with secondary devices, while USB supports wired use and charging. Logitech specifies a maximum 1 ms report interval and wireless range of up to 40 m. A report interval is not total end-to-end input latency, and actual range depends on the environment. For competitive play, use LIGHTSPEED or wired USB rather than assuming Bluetooth behaves identically across devices.

For measured latency and broader testing of typing, build, software and compatibility, consult RTINGS’ test results and Tom’s Hardware’s hands-on assessment. Logitech’s report-interval specification alone is not a substitute for those measurements.

Logitech lists dimensions of approximately 290 × 103 × 39 mm and weight of about 610 g with the battery (581 g without it). The keyboard has dual-shot PBT keycaps, LIGHTSYNC RGB, a volume roller, media controls and a dedicated game-mode control. The package includes a semi-hard carrying case, LIGHTSPEED receiver, USB extension adapter and USB-C cable. The case is useful if you transport the board, but does not change its everyday typing feel.
Battery life and charging
The rechargeable 1,500 mAh battery is rated for up to 65 hours, with an approximate 5.5-hour full-charge time. “Up to” is Logitech’s maximum, not a guaranteed runtime; lighting brightness and effects, usage and connection mode affect endurance. Tom’s Hardware reported roughly a work week under its review conditions with lighting active and LIGHTSPEED enabled, a useful example of how real use can fall below the headline maximum. The battery is not user-replaceable, which matters if you expect to keep a premium wireless keyboard for many years.

Software, setup and support considerations
The keyboard works as a basic HID keyboard, but advanced remapping, macros, lighting and profile configuration require Logitech G HUB. Logitech’s quick-start guide directs users to G HUB for setup. Check which settings are stored onboard and which depend on the software running; do not assume every custom feature behaves the same over Bluetooth or on another operating system.
If G HUB does not detect the keyboard, isolate the connection before concluding that the board is faulty:
- Connect the keyboard by USB and test basic typing.
- Connect the LIGHTSPEED receiver directly to the computer or use the included extension adapter.
- Restart G HUB, then check for available software and device firmware updates.
- Try another USB port, avoiding hubs while troubleshooting.
- If G HUB offers a device-pairing option, use it to re-pair the receiver.
- If wired typing works but wireless does not, focus on the receiver or wireless connection; contact Logitech support if the receiver is missing, damaged or undetected.
Receiver compatibility is device-specific, so do not assume a different Logitech wireless dongle will pair. Confirm compatibility with Logitech before buying a used board without its receiver. Bluetooth availability alone also does not establish official console support or guarantee that advanced features work on a console.

Is the $179 launch positioning worth it?
The price question is about more than key count. The launch MSRP bought a wireless LIGHTSPEED receiver, Bluetooth, G HUB integration, optical switches, RGB, a volume roller and a carrying case in Logitech’s PRO line. Those extras matter most to someone who specifically wants this combination in a 60% board. They matter less if the priority is simply a small keyboard at the lowest price.
Independent reviews broadly find a capable, customizable keyboard, while raising questions about value and the inconvenience of the layout. TechRadar’s review emphasizes the value challenge; RTINGS and Tom’s Hardware provide testing and practical context. The central choice is whether wireless convenience and Logitech’s feature set are worth paying for over a wired compact board—not whether the PRO X 60 is universally better.
