GeForce NOW renamed its Priority membership to Performance on November 7, 2024, and automatically moved existing Priority members to the new name. NVIDIA added streaming up to 2560×1440 at 60 fps on supported setups, selected ultrawide modes, and saved graphics settings in compatible games—with no added charge announced at launch. Performance is still below Ultimate, and its 1440p support depends on the device and app. Members also now have a 100-hour monthly premium-playtime allowance.
What changed when Priority became Performance?
The November 2024 change was more than a label, but it did not turn the mid-tier membership into Ultimate. NVIDIA described Performance as keeping Priority’s paid-tier benefits while adding higher streaming resolution, selected ultrawide support, and persistent graphics settings. The price was not increased as part of the announcement. NVIDIA’s announcement said existing Priority members would be upgraded automatically.

The name change happened in 2024; the current membership also has a later playtime policy, described below. Do not treat the 100-hour allowance as part of the original rename.

NVIDIA’s support table lists the following modes for Performance and Ultimate, each at up to 60 fps. They are supported maximum stream modes, not a promise that every game, device, session, or network will deliver them.

See NVIDIA’s resolution compatibility table for the supported modes and conditions. A 1440p stream also does not guarantee that the game itself is rendered internally at 1440p. GeForce NOW runs the game on cloud hardware, encodes a video stream, and sends it to your device; the game’s render resolution, upscaling, dynamic resolution, assigned rig, and client decoding all affect the result. NVIDIA says actual resolution and frame rate can vary by device, network quality, game, membership, and GPU type in its membership terms.
Where can Performance deliver 1440p?
The clearest Performance 1440p use case is the native Windows or macOS app connected to a compatible QHD or ultrawide display. NVIDIA’s requirements distinguish this from other device classes, so the plan’s headline resolution should not be read as universal support.

Check NVIDIA’s current device system requirements for your specific device and browser. Features can differ if you subscribe through a GeForce NOW Alliance partner rather than NVIDIA’s own service.

What else is included—and what is the monthly playtime limit?
Performance carries forward the paid-tier advantages associated with Priority, including faster server access than the free tier, longer sessions than free users, RTX features in supported games, and access to premium features such as Install-to-Play. It streams supported games tied to your accounts rather than providing a general game catalog: you typically need to own a game or have access through a supported store or subscription. NVIDIA explains the supported-store model in its guide to playing on GeForce NOW.

Under NVIDIA’s current FAQ, Performance and Ultimate members receive 100 hours of premium playtime per month, with up to 15 unused hours rolling into the next month. After using the available premium time, you can purchase more through your account portal or continue with a free-tier experience until the monthly reset. NVIDIA’s FAQ says premium members retain Install-to-Play access after April 30, 2026, even if they have used their allowance and do not buy extra hours. The FAQ does not establish one universal current price for extra hours; check your account portal. See NVIDIA’s playtime FAQ for policy details.
Founders is a separate legacy case: eligible Founders may retain unlimited playtime on the base Founders plan, but upgrading to Ultimate subjects the account to monthly limits. Returning to the base Founders membership restores unlimited playtime only if the account remains eligible. Former Priority status alone does not confer Founders benefits.

Performance versus Ultimate and Free
Performance is aimed at supported 1440p/60-fps play at a lower price than Ultimate. Ultimate is the higher tier for higher resolution, refresh rates, HDR, and more powerful cloud hardware. NVIDIA’s current membership page lists Ultimate features including RTX 50-Series/5080-class performance, DLSS 4, up to 5K/120, and 360-fps capability where supported. These are not Performance guarantees. NVIDIA does not publish one fixed GPU model guaranteed for every Performance session; rig availability and results vary by region, game, and capacity.

How to get 1440p working
- Use the native app where possible. Try the GeForce NOW Windows or macOS app rather than a browser, particularly if the browser or device does not expose the desired resolution.
- Check the local display mode. Confirm your monitor and operating-system display settings offer 2560×1440 or the ultrawide resolution you want.
- Set the stream quality. Open GeForce NOW settings and choose the highest available streaming resolution and frame-rate option. Exact labels can change by app version.
- Set the game resolution too. In a supported game, check its display or graphics menu and select 2560×1440 if available. Stream resolution and in-game render resolution are separate settings.
- Check the connection. NVIDIA publishes 35 Mbps guidance for QHD or ultrawide QHD at 120 fps on supported systems, latency below 80 ms to an NVIDIA data center, and recommends wired Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi. That bandwidth figure is guidance, not a promise that Performance runs at 120 fps; NVIDIA’s Performance resolution table lists up to 60 fps.
- Verify the actual stream. Open streaming statistics with Ctrl+N on Windows or Cmd+N on macOS in the relevant app context, then check the displayed stream resolution and rig.
If you still only see 1080p, check whether you are using a browser, Android, handheld, or another device with a plan-specific restriction; whether the OS exposes QHD; whether the game or assigned session supports the mode; and whether network conditions are reducing stream quality. If available, test the same account in the native PC or Mac app to isolate device limitations. NVIDIA notes that performance and modes may vary by region, device, game, network, and GPU type in its membership terms.
Is Performance worth keeping?
- Keep or choose Performance if you have a supported 1440p or ultrawide PC/Mac setup, 60 fps is sufficient, you want RTX features in compatible games, and you expect to use less than 100 premium hours in a month.
- Consider Ultimate if you need 4K, high-refresh or 120-fps streaming, HDR, QHD on a supported mobile or handheld device, or the higher-end cloud hardware. NVIDIA’s terms do not guarantee a fixed rig model for every session.
- Try a Day Pass if you want to check latency and image quality on your actual network and device before subscribing. The U.S. marketplace lists one-day Performance and Ultimate passes at the prices shown above.
- Use Free if occasional play and 1080p/60 fps are enough and you accept the free tier’s queue and catalog trade-offs.
Before subscribing, confirm that the games you want are supported and available through your linked storefront or subscription. GeForce NOW streams eligible games; a membership does not ordinarily buy the games for you.
