Yes, but only in a narrow sense. NVIDIA has made the process for obtaining an RTX 5090, RTX 5080, or RTX 5070 Founders Edition (FE) fairer by using Verified Priority Access (VPA), an invitation system intended to give genuine buyers a chance at MSRP without relying entirely on a public stock drop. It has not established that FE supply is now abundant, and registration still does not guarantee a card.
What NVIDIA changed
VPA separates access from the fastest checkout bot. You register with NVIDIA, selected users receive an email invitation, and the invited buyer gets an opportunity to purchase an eligible FE card at the applicable MSRP. NVIDIA warns that there may be more applicants than cards, so enrollment is not a reservation or guaranteed queue position. Invitations and purchase opportunities remain limited and time-sensitive. The exact models, countries, retailer route and enrollment process can change. Use NVIDIA’s current RTX 50-series buying page for US routing, rather than assuming an old product link is still active.
US and European availability
NVIDIA said invitations were continuing for people already registered in the United States. In August 2025 it expanded VPA to France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. The enrollment page found for Europe is NVIDIA Marketplace’s VPA page; do not assume that URL is the current US form. Retailers, taxes, inventory and warranty terms vary by country.

In-person VPA
NVIDIA has also used the same controlled-access idea at events. PAX East 2026 offered attendees a chance to buy an RTX 50-series FE card at MSRP. QuakeCon 2026, held August 6–9, offered RTX 5090, RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 FE cards at MSRP while supplies lasted. The RTX 5070 Ti is an RTX 50-series product, but NVIDIA did not include it in the stated FE lineup. An FE card is NVIDIA’s own limited reference-style design; an add-in-board (AIB) card is made and sold by a partner such as ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, PNY or Zotac. Do not treat availability of an AIB RTX 5080 as availability of an RTX 5080 FE.

Where US buyers should look
At the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 launch, NVIDIA identified Best Buy as the US retailer for limited FE quantities, while partner cards were sold through manufacturers and other retailers. Current routing can change, so begin with NVIDIA’s official buying page and follow the retailer link shown for your model and region.

Did NVIDIA increase supply?
There is evidence of better access, not a quantified production increase. NVIDIA created VPA, expanded it to additional European countries and tested physical-event sales. In 2025, NVIDIA also told Tom’s Hardware that delisted RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 FE listings were not discontinued; the limited-edition cards had been removed because they were out of stock. Tom’s Hardware reported that statement.
That is not the same as normal availability. NVIDIA still describes FE cards as limited-quantity products, VPA enrollment has no selection guarantee, and August 2026 market reporting continued to find uneven stock and prices above launch levels. One report described long US gaps for the RTX 5090 FE and RTX 5080 FE, while third-party prices rose sharply. PC Gamer’s August 2026 price watch is a dated snapshot, not a permanent price list.

Those numbers should not be confused with an invitation-specific checkout price, a current authorized-retailer price, or a reseller’s marketplace price. Tom’s Hardware reported an August 2026 US RTX 5070 median around $900 in one market snapshot, with other models also above launch pricing. That report measures listings at a particular time; it is not an official MSRP revision.

How to maximize your chance of getting an FE card
- Choose a model with an FE edition. For this generation, that means the RTX 5090, RTX 5080 or RTX 5070.
- Open NVIDIA’s official buying page. Check the current US retailer or marketplace link for your model at nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/buy-geforce-50-series/.
- Enroll in VPA when a current regional form is offered. Use the country-specific NVIDIA page; the identified European form is marketplace.nvidia.com/en-eu/account/vpa/.
- Use a real NVIDIA account and monitor its email address. NVIDIA says selected users are contacted by email. Enrollment alone does not produce an invitation.
- Be ready to check out. An invitation improves your odds but does not convert limited stock into a permanent reservation. Have your account, payment method, shipping information and case-size plan ready.
- Keep an AIB fallback. NVIDIA’s launch partners included ASUS, Colorful, Gainward, GALAX, Gigabyte, INNO3D, KFA2, MSI, Palit, PNY and Zotac. Partner availability and pricing differ by country.
Should you wait for an FE card?

Common mistakes to avoid
Confusing registration with a queue
VPA makes you eligible for consideration. NVIDIA says more people may sign up than there are cards, and registration does not guarantee selection.
Assuming a missing listing means cancellation
A vanished store page can mean no current stock or a retailer-status change. NVIDIA’s 2025 statement, reported by Tom’s Hardware, said the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 FE continued in production after delisting.
Treating event sales as repeatable retail access
PAX East and QuakeCon show that NVIDIA can sell through authenticated events, but attendance, dates and quantities are event-specific.

Verify the seller, manufacturer warranty, return window, condition, import status, final tax-and-shipping cost, case clearance and power compatibility before paying a premium.
Bottom line
NVIDIA has improved the odds and fairness of buying an RTX 50-series Founders Edition card at MSRP by adding invitation-based and event-based access. It has not demonstrated that FE supply is plentiful or that every registrant will receive a card. If the FE design and MSRP are the point, register through the official regional route and keep watching. If you need RTX 50-series performance now, compare an authorized AIB card against the cost of waiting rather than treating VPA as a guarantee.
