What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Yes. The Logitech G432 works on Xbox through the included analog 3.5 mm console/PC cable connected to a compatible Xbox controller. Game audio and party chat should function, but the USB DAC, Logitech G HUB equalizer, DTS Headphone:X 2.0 and Blue VO!CE processing are PC features and do not operate through the normal Xbox controller connection.
Xbox compatibility at a glance
| Xbox setup | Works? | Connection | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xbox One controller with 3.5 mm jack | Yes | G432 3.5 mm cable to controller | Analog stereo; no G HUB features |
| Xbox One controller without a 3.5 mm jack | Yes, with an adapter | Xbox Stereo Headset Adapter, sold separately | Adapter or newer controller required |
| Xbox One S/X controller with 3.5 mm jack | Yes | 3.5 mm cable to controller | Console stereo mode |
| Xbox Series X|S controller | Yes, through the controller jack | 3.5 mm cable to controller | Controller-based compatibility rather than a specific Logitech Series certification |
| Xbox console USB port with the G432 USB DAC | Not the standard supported method | USB DAC | Logitech’s console setup directs you to the controller’s analog jack |
Logitech officially lists the G432 for Xbox One through a 3.5 mm connection (Logitech compatibility information). Xbox states that Series X|S controllers support wired headsets through their 3.5 mm jack (Xbox headset guidance), so Series compatibility follows from that controller connection.
What is in the G432 box?
Packages generally contain the G432 headset, detachable boom microphone, a console/PC cable with a 3.5 mm plug, a USB DAC for computer use, a PC splitter for separate headphone and microphone sockets, and documentation. Retail contents can vary by region or older stock, so check the package listing for the exact SKU. Logitech’s manual and product specifications identify the USB DAC and PC-oriented accessories.
How to connect the G432 to Xbox
- Insert the boom microphone fully into the headset.
- Connect the supplied console/PC cable to the headset.
- Plug the cable’s 3.5 mm end into the headset jack on the Xbox controller.
- Lower the boom microphone. Raising it activates the headset’s flip-to-mute behavior.
- Start a game or Xbox party and test both playback and microphone input.
- Set the headset’s physical volume control, then adjust Xbox volume, chat balance and mute controls as needed.
These are the connection steps in Logitech’s official Xbox and PlayStation setup. Use the console/PC cable, not the PC Y-splitter. The splitter is designed for computers with separate headphone and microphone ports.

- Game for Hours in Comfort. Everything about these headphones is about comfort: The deluxe lightweight leatherette ear cups and headband are made to keep pressure off your ears. Ear cups rotate up to 90 degrees for convenience.
Is the USB DAC required?
No. For ordinary Xbox use, leave the USB DAC out of the signal path and connect the analog cable directly to the controller. The DAC is used with a computer so Logitech G HUB can provide software functions such as DTS Headphone:X 2.0 and equalizer controls. Logitech’s DTS instructions describe that PC setup; inserting the DAC into an Xbox USB port does not turn the G432 into a guaranteed USB Xbox headset.
Does 7.1 surround sound work on Xbox?
Not Logitech’s advertised PC 7.1 mode. Through the controller’s analog connection, the G432 operates as a stereo headset. Logitech says DTS Headphone:X 2.0, the five-band G HUB EQ and Blue VO!CE microphone processing are unavailable on the console-controller connection (Logitech’s console feature note).
Xbox can apply its own console-level spatial-audio technologies where supported by the console, account, game and selected settings. That is separate from activating Logitech DTS in G HUB, so it should not be described as the G432’s PC-style 7.1 mode.

Does the microphone work for Xbox party chat?
Yes, provided the correct console/PC cable is used and the controller recognizes the headset. The same four-pole connection carries headphone and microphone signals. Push the boom fully into the earcup, lower it to unmute, and check the controller and party-chat mute state. Blue VO!CE processing is not available on Xbox, so the microphone uses the hardware and console path rather than Logitech’s PC enhancement.

Inspect the underside of the controller. If it has a 3.5 mm port, connect the G432 directly. Some early Xbox One controllers lack that socket; Logitech notes that they may require the separately sold Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter (Logitech’s adapter guidance). This is a controller-generation issue, not evidence that the G432 itself is incompatible.
Published specifications
Logitech lists 50 mm drivers, a 20 Hz–20 kHz frequency response, 39-ohm passive impedance, 5,000-ohm active impedance, sensitivity of 107 ±3 dB, a 6 mm cardioid boom microphone, microphone response of 100 Hz–20 kHz, approximately 280 g weight and a 2 m cable. Troubleshooting common Xbox problems
No game audio
- Push the 3.5 mm plug fully into the controller and verify the other end is in the headset’s correct socket.
- Remove the USB DAC and any PC splitter or unsuitable extension from the connection.
- Test the controller with another known-good wired headset.
- Restart the controller and console if Xbox does not detect the headset.
- Check Xbox mute, audio output and game/chat balance settings.
- Inspect the cable for cuts, bent contacts or intermittent sound.
Microphone is not detected
- Confirm the boom is inserted completely and lowered; lifting it can mute the microphone.
- Verify that you are using the supplied console/PC cable rather than a headphone-only cable.
- Check the controller mute switch and Xbox party-chat permissions.
- Test the G432 on another compatible device to distinguish a headset fault from a controller fault.
- If using an older Xbox One controller, test its Stereo Headset Adapter.
Volume is very low
- Raise the headset’s physical volume and Xbox volume/chat balance independently.
- Try another controller to rule out a weak or damaged jack.
- Remove passive splitters, damaged extension leads or other unsuitable adapters.
- Do not expect the USB DAC to fix an Xbox-controller volume problem; it belongs to the PC setup.
You expected surround sound after plugging in USB
USB connection alone does not enable G HUB. Logitech’s DTS and EQ controls require the PC software path. On Xbox, configure any supported Xbox spatial-audio option separately and regard the G432 itself as a stereo analog headset.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the G432 worth buying for Xbox?
The G432 makes sense when you already own one, find it substantially discounted, or need one wired headset for both PC and Xbox. It provides a simple no-battery connection, a boom microphone and physical volume control through any compatible controller.
Think twice when its price approaches newer Xbox-focused models. It has no native Xbox wireless connection, its headline DTS/EQ/Blue VO!CE functions are unavailable on console, older controllers may need an adapter, and stock, warranty handling and package contents can vary because it is an older design. Evaluate comfort and durability from the seller’s return policy or independent reviews rather than from specifications alone.

A regional Logitech storefront showed £39.99 reduced from £79.99 when crawled; that is a United Kingdom price signal, not a current universal or U.S. price (regional catalog). Compare the actual country, retailer, currency, stock status and date with newer alternatives.
Alternatives to consider
| Headset | Why consider it | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Xbox Stereo Headset | First-party wired option with explicit Xbox One and Series X|S positioning and Xbox spatial-audio support. | Microsoft’s U.S. page showed $59.99, reduced from $64.99, when observed; prices change, and it lacks PC-side Logitech G HUB customization. |
| Logitech ASTRO A10 Gen 2 | Newer wired Logitech-family model marketed for current Xbox generations and other platforms. | Less compelling if a working G432 is available at a much lower price. |
| Logitech A50 Gen 5 | Premium wireless, multi-platform system for Xbox, PlayStation and PC with a base station and PLAYSYNC features. | A substantially higher price tier and not a budget replacement for a wired G432. |
Final verdict
The Logitech G432 works on Xbox for game audio and party chat when its supplied 3.5 mm console cable is plugged into a compatible controller. Use an Xbox Stereo Headset Adapter with controllers that lack a headphone jack. Do not buy it expecting the included USB DAC, Logitech DTS Headphone:X 2.0, G HUB EQ or Blue VO!CE to work through Xbox: on console, the practical experience is wired analog stereo.
