Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteIf your Nintendo Switch will not display on a TV, first confirm you have a TV-compatible model, then reset the dock’s power and reconnect it directly to the TV. For an original Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch OLED Model, unplug the official AC adapter from the wall and dock for at least 30 seconds, reconnect power and HDMI, select the TV’s matching input, and restart the console. If the problem remains, test components one at a time—especially another dock—to find whether the fault is in the console, adapter, dock, HDMI cable or TV.
Check which Nintendo Switch model you have
These instructions are for the original Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch OLED Model. Check the model number on the console or dock if you are unsure: the original console is HAC-001, the OLED Model is HEG-001, the original dock is HAC-007, and the LAN-equipped OLED dock is HEG-007. Nintendo lists the original Switch AC adapter as HAC-002. See Nintendo’s TV connection instructions and adapter guidance.
- Nintendo Switch Lite: It does not support TV Mode, so placing it in a dock will not produce TV video.
- Original Switch or OLED Model: Use a compatible Switch dock and the official Nintendo Switch AC adapter while troubleshooting.
- Nintendo Switch 2: It requires the Switch 2 dock and Switch 2 AC adapter for TV Mode. The original Switch dock cannot provide Switch 2 TV output. Follow Nintendo’s Switch 2 TV Mode instructions.
Start with a full power and cable reset
- Remove the console from the dock and turn off the TV.
- Disconnect the HDMI cable and AC adapter from the dock. Unplug the adapter from the wall as well, and leave it disconnected for at least 30 seconds.
- Inspect the adapter and cables for cuts, fraying, bent connectors or other visible damage. Do not use damaged equipment.
- Connect the official Switch AC adapter directly to a wall outlet and to the dock port labeled AC ADAPTER.
- Connect the HDMI cable to the dock port labeled HDMI OUT, then connect the other end directly to the TV. Bypass soundbars, AV receivers, HDMI switches, capture devices and adapters for this test.
- Turn on the TV and select the HDMI input that you used.
- Place the console in the dock with its screen facing the same direction as the dock’s front. Remove a protective case if it prevents the console from seating fully.
Follow the printed port labels; positions can differ between dock models. Nintendo’s connection and reset guidance is at How to Connect Nintendo Switch to a TV and its flashing-LED troubleshooting page.
Check whether the console works in handheld mode
Undock the console and connect the official adapter directly to it. If the HOME Menu appears and responds, the console can operate handheld; continue testing the dock, power and TV signal path. If the console does not turn on or display correctly handheld, the problem may be the console or its power supply rather than an isolated dock or HDMI fault.

- [Compatibility]: The SiWiQU dock only works with Nintendo Switch/Switch OLED. The switch docking station is not work with Nintendo Switch 2 (2025). (NOTE: Only docking station included, no cable or charger.)
- One-touch Display Switching: Press the TV/Tabletop Mode button at the back of the dock, you can choose Tabletop Mode or TV Output Mode.
- Special Design: The guide notch have a spring buffer function, You don't have to worry about damaging the port over time when docking the console in. The switch fits into the dock tight and secure (NOT compatible with protective cases). The anti-skid pad at the bottom prevents it from sliding around or falling over by accident.
- Charge While Playing: The charging stand allows the Switch system to be charging while in TV or tabletop mode. Built in smart original chip, having Short-circuit Protection, Over Power Protection, Recovery Protection and Overheating Protection.
- Portable and Lightweight: This Switch dock with classic red and blue colour match is only 109g(0.24lb), 7.5 in * 2.3 in * 1.3 in size, which is much more portable and lightweight than official dock. Its work capability is the same as official standard.
Install an available system update at System Settings → System → System Update. To restart normally, hold POWER for three seconds, choose Power Options → Restart. If the console is frozen, hold POWER for at least 12 seconds to force it off, then turn it on again. Nintendo’s no-image procedure is at Blank Screen or No Image Displayed on the TV.
If the TV says “No Signal” or the console screen stays on
With the console seated properly, its screen should turn off when TV output engages. If the TV still shows “No Signal,” check the input and simplify the HDMI route before assuming the dock is defective.
- Try another HDMI input on the TV and select that input.
- Substitute a known-good HDMI cable.
- Keep the dock connected directly to the TV, with no receiver, soundbar, switch, adapter or capture device in between.
- Try another HDMI-capable TV or monitor.
- If available, try another compatible Switch dock with the same console and known-good adapter and HDMI cable.
A cable, input or display fault is possible, but changing the cable alone does not prove the dock is at fault. Nintendo recommends testing another HDMI port, cable, display and dock in its no-image troubleshooting flow.
Understand the dock’s TV-output light
A brief flash when the AC adapter is first connected is normal. A steady green TV-output light should remain on while the console is docked and an application is displayed on the TV. A continuously flashing light calls for further troubleshooting; a brief flash by itself does not establish that TV output is working.

- Disconnect HDMI, then unplug the adapter from both wall and dock for at least 30 seconds.
- Reconnect the official, undamaged adapter to the wall and dock, then connect HDMI directly to the TV.
- Test with another compatible dock if one is available.
These light behaviors and steps are described by Nintendo’s flashing TV-output LED guide.
If the dock charges but does not show video
Charging and TV output are separate functions: a console or accessory receiving power does not prove that the HDMI video path is working. Check that the adapter is the official HAC-002, reset it for 30 seconds, confirm the TV input, use a direct HDMI connection, and test another cable or display. A second dock is the most useful comparison if you can borrow one.
If the console displays successfully through another dock, the original dock becomes the likely service or replacement candidate. If it fails with multiple docks, the console, adapter or compatibility may be involved; the result is a diagnostic clue, not a guarantee of which component failed. See Nintendo’s no-image guidance.
If the dock’s USB ports do not work
Treat USB accessory problems separately from TV output. First install the latest system update. For a LAN-equipped dock, update dock firmware using the menu path above. Then test another dock USB port and another compatible accessory; Nintendo identifies devices such as the Switch Pro Controller, Joy-Con Charging Grip, Nintendo Switch LAN Adapter and GameCube Controller Adapter in its USB-port troubleshooting guide.

Where possible, test the accessory directly with the AC adapter. If it also fails there, the accessory itself may be the issue rather than the dock.
If the picture is distorted, blurry or flickering
For discoloration, static, pixelation, blur, incorrect sizing or flicker, restart the console and install system updates, then test the official adapter and a direct HDMI connection. Try another HDMI cable, TV input and display, and bypass intermediary equipment. A second dock can help isolate the source. If distortion also appears on the console’s own screen while undocked, the fault is not limited to TV-mode docking. Nintendo’s steps are at its distorted or blurry TV image troubleshooting page.
If you see the supplied-adapter error
If the console displays “Could Not Connect to the TV, Please Use the AC Adapter Supplied With the Console,” disconnect the adapter from both ends for at least 30 seconds, then connect the official Switch adapter (HAC-002) directly to the dock and a wall outlet. Inspect it for damage. Do not assume every USB-C charger is equivalent: Switch 2 TV Mode requires its own adapter and dock. Nintendo explains the Switch error at this adapter-message support page; Switch 2 requirements are covered in Nintendo’s Switch 2 charging guidance.

| Test result | What it suggests | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| No handheld image with the official adapter | The console or its power supply may be involved. | Try a known-good official adapter if available; otherwise use Nintendo service guidance. |
| Another HDMI cable fixes TV output | The original cable is likely faulty. | Replace the cable; do not replace the dock based on this result. |
| Another TV or HDMI input works | The original display, input or signal path may be involved. | Check that TV’s settings and any intermediary equipment. |
| The console works in a second dock | The first dock is the likely fault candidate. | Consider service or a compatible replacement after confirming the adapter and cable. |
| The console fails with more than one dock | The console, adapter or setup may be involved. | Try a known-good official adapter and seek diagnosis if failure persists. |
| TV video works but USB accessories fail | The USB path or accessory may be at fault. | Test a different port and compatible accessory, including direct power where possible. |
Nintendo’s isolation steps are in its no-image guide and flashing-LED guide.
When to stop troubleshooting and seek service
Stop using the equipment if you see liquid damage, smoke, burn marks, smell burning, find a damaged connector, or suspect impact damage. Do not open the dock or attempt board-level repair. Have the console, dock or adapter assessed if handheld operation fails, multiple known-good components do not restore TV output, or the LED continues flashing after reset and update steps.
In the United States, Nintendo’s repairing your Nintendo Switch system page leads to troubleshooting and service options; warranty status is determined during the service-request process. For unresolved no-image or flashing-light problems, Nintendo may need the console and dock for testing, and its guidance may call for including the HDMI cable and AC adapter. A replacement dock is best considered only after testing supports the dock as the cause. If you do replace it, choose the dock for your Switch generation; Nintendo’s official original Switch dock listing notes that the adapter and HDMI cable are required separately.
