Facebook Connect is configured inside each supported game, and the menu name varies by title and device. Usually, open the game’s Settings or Play With Friends menu, choose the Facebook option, authorize the correct profile, then verify that the status says Connected.
What linking a Zynga game to Facebook does
The connection normally pairs one Zynga title with one Facebook profile; it does not automatically merge every Zynga game into one universal account. Depending on the title, it can let you find friends playing the same game, send gifts or requests, share achievements, receive game notifications, verify your account, or synchronize and recover progress. Facebook Connect is not necessarily a backup. Each game defines what the connection does, so check its own support instructions before relying on it to restore a profile.
Before you connect
- Update the Zynga game and Facebook app, if installed.
- Confirm that the Facebook profile shown on the device is the one you intend to use.
- Finish any required tutorial or opening level; some games hide Settings until then.
- Note your current progress and player ID/ZID if available.
- Decide whether you need social features, account verification, progress recovery, or simply a sign-in method.
The Facebook app is optional in some games: authorization can open in Facebook, a mobile browser, or an in-game web view.

General mobile steps
- Open the specific Zynga game, not the general Zynga website.
- Tap the gear, Menu, Options, or Settings button.
- Look under Account, Facebook, Play With Friends, or Social.
- Choose Connect to Facebook, Connect with Facebook, Facebook, Not Connected, or Log In with Facebook.
- Sign in if prompted and check that the displayed Facebook profile is correct.
- Approve the requested permissions.
- Return to the game and reopen Settings to confirm Connected.
- Test the feature you wanted—such as friends, gifts, requests, or recovery—without deleting or resetting the current game.
Labels and locations change between games, operating systems, web editions, and updates.
Where the control appears in selected games

Will Facebook save your progress?
There is no universal answer. Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells and FarmVille 3 describe Facebook or another linked method as capable of syncing or safeguarding progress. By contrast, CSR 2 explicitly says connecting Facebook will not save the game profile. Use the named game’s current support page as the authority, and consider a Zynga email login, Apple, Google Play, or Game Center option when offered.

If Facebook Connect is missing or fails
The button is missing
- The title or platform may not support Facebook Connect.
- You may need to finish the tutorial or first level.
- The control may be under Account, Social, or Play With Friends.
- The support instructions may describe a different edition or operating system.
The wrong Facebook profile opens
- Cancel authorization.
- Sign out of Facebook in the Facebook app.
- Sign out of Facebook in the mobile browser.
- Reopen the game and try again with the intended profile.
This app-and-browser sign-out sequence is included in Zynga’s iOS and Android troubleshooting.
Authorization loops or permissions fail
- Update the game and Facebook.
- Check your internet connection.
- Sign out of Facebook app and browser sessions.
- In Facebook, open the area for Settings and Privacy → Permissions → Apps and websites (wording may change) and allow interaction with third-party apps, websites, and games.
- Reconnect from the game’s Settings.
- On Android, Zynga’s troubleshooting also describes removing the Facebook account from the device’s account settings, then signing in again; this does not delete the Facebook account.
Progress disappears after connecting
Stop playing on the affected device and do not uninstall, erase, or start over. Look for Recover, Load, Sign in, or Switch account; select the same Facebook or email identity used previously. If the profile remains missing, contact Zynga Support with the game, player ID/ZID, device, operating system, and approximate last successful login. Friends do not appear
Your friend must play the same title, permissions must be active, and the game’s social feature must still be available. Logging out inside some games can hide Facebook friends while leaving the game associated with Facebook, as documented for Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells.
Disconnecting, logging out, and switching accounts
These controls are not interchangeable. A game may offer Disconnect, Log Out, or a Facebook status button. Logging out can hide friends without removing a permanent game association. An Erase my game command is separate and can delete or reset local progress. Never tap Erase, delete app data, or accept a recovery prompt that loads an unfamiliar profile merely to change Facebook accounts. Check the title-specific instructions first.

Facebook Connect versus a Zynga email account
Facebook Connect uses your Facebook identity for a particular game’s social and authentication features. A Zynga Account, Zynga ID, or email sign-in uses a Zynga-managed login, often verified with a one-time code. Where supported, email linking is often the clearer choice for moving a game between devices or operating systems; Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells and FarmVille 3 describe it as a separate safeguard or transfer method. Apple, Google Play, and Game Center can be additional platform-specific options.
Security reminders
- Authorize only the official game and Facebook sign-in flow.
- Check the profile name before approving access.
- Zynga says it will not ask for your password; never share it with someone claiming to be support.
- Avoid “free coins,” “free chips,” hacks, bots, cheats, and unofficial connectors, which can steal credentials or lead to suspension. See Zynga’s security FAQ, account-protection guidance, and its hacks and cheats warning.
- If the Facebook account is compromised, contact Facebook Security; Zynga cannot restore access to Facebook itself.
When to contact Zynga
Use the official Zynga Support portal when the correct profile, permissions, updates, and title-specific recovery options do not resolve the issue. Include your game name, player ID/ZID, device and operating system, screenshots of the error, and the last date you could access the correct progress.
