In Steam, open Library, clear the search and library filters, and turn off the installed-only filter (often shown as a play-button icon). Make sure the content type is Games and that you are viewing the general library rather than a collection. If a particular title is still missing, open View → Hidden Games, right-click it, choose Manage, and select Remove from Hidden.
An uninstalled game is still owned and should remain in the library when installed-only is disabled. If these steps do not restore it, check the account, purchase status, Steam Families, and Family View restrictions.
Show every owned game in the Steam desktop client
- Launch Steam and sign in to the account that owns the games.
- Select Library.
- Click the library search box and delete any search text.
- Clear active tags, platform filters, collections, and other filter chips. Return to the general library view instead of a custom collection.
- Turn off the installed-only filter. Steam changes the icon and placement of this control between client builds and operating systems; it is commonly represented by a small play or installed icon near the search controls.
- Check the content-type selector and include Games, rather than limiting the list to software, tools, soundtracks, or another category.
- Wait a moment for the library to refresh. Restart Steam if the list does not update.
Collections and filters change what is displayed; they do not remove your license. The most common reason only a few games appear is a saved filter or collection, while an installed-only view explains why uninstalled games seem to have disappeared. Steam identifies incorrect filters and hidden games as principal causes of a missing library (Steam Support).
Unhide a game
Hiding is a local library-organization feature. To restore a hidden title:

- In the desktop client, choose View → Hidden Games.
- Select the missing title.
- Right-click it and choose Manage.
- Select Remove from Hidden (or the equivalent Unhide command in your client).
The title should return to the normal library after you go back to Library. Steam documents this path in its missing-library guidance (Steam Support).
If only some games are missing

Confirm the Steam account
Steam says a wrong account is a likely explanation when previously activated games disappear entirely. Compare the account name and profile currently shown in the client with the account that made the purchase. A game bought on a different account will not become owned on this one.

Check a recent purchase
Open Steam purchase history and look for the title. Check the email receipt and whether the transaction is still pending. Steam notes that a missing receipt can indicate a pending purchase; for a completed purchase that remains absent, sign out of the client and sign back in (Steam Support).
Steam Families and Family Sharing
A game available through another household member is not necessarily owned by the account currently signed in. Access can disappear when the owner removes it, a member leaves the Steam Family, the title is not eligible for sharing, or a technical or publisher restriction applies. Steam Families supports sharing, but it does not make every game or downloadable item shareable (Steamworks: Steam Families).

Local files can remain on the computer after borrowed access ends. Seeing an installed or preloaded game therefore does not prove that the current account still has a license. Check the owning profile and Steam’s family settings before deleting files. Steam’s family-sharing troubleshooting is available at Steam Support.
Check Family View restrictions
Family View can put parts of the Steam Store, Library, Community, and Friends features behind a PIN. If a child account or restricted profile sees only part of the library, review the Family View settings and enter the PIN or ask the account organizer to change the restriction. Verify the library on Steam’s website
Use Steam’s web profile Games page and open the All Games tab. This provides an account-level check when the desktop view is filtered or not refreshing (Steam Support).
The web list is a verification aid, not proof that the desktop client is malfunctioning. Steam notes that this page can reflect installation information from the client associated with the account, so use it alongside the account and purchase checks.

Hidden, private, uninstalled, and shared are different

Steam Deck and Big Picture
The desktop-client procedure is the clearest recovery route because it exposes the stable View → Hidden Games path and full filter controls. Steam Deck Game Mode and Big Picture layouts can use different labels and menus, so do not assume that the desktop menu appears unchanged. If the Deck view is incomplete, sign into the same account in the desktop client (or desktop mode) and perform the filter and hidden-game checks there.
When to contact Steam Support
Escalate after you have restarted Steam, signed out and back in, confirmed the account, checked purchase history, reviewed Steam Families and Family View, and compared the web All Games list. Contact Steam Support when a completed purchase is absent from both the client and the account’s web Games list, or when you cannot establish which account owns the title. Avoid deleting local files, reinstalling Steam, clearing configuration files, or other invasive repairs until ownership and access are confirmed; those actions do not address a filter, hidden-game setting, or license restriction.
