Pentagon Games announced a $6 million seed round on August 8, 2024, naming Animoca Brands, Binance Labs, Hyperedge, NFX, Polygon, Republic, Spartan, Tess Ventures and Yield Guild Games among its backers. The company said the money would support a zkEVM-based Web3 game publisher building AI-powered AR, VR and XR experiences. That announcement is not new 2026 funding: it is a two-year-old financing event whose product story has since broadened.
As of August 18, 2026, Pentagon’s public website presents Pentagon Chain as a live zkEVM Layer 2 settling to Ethereum, with Chain ID 3344, a native $PC gas token, games, wallets, a bridge, marketplace and AI-agent infrastructure. The relationship between that current ecosystem, the earlier $PEN-focused gaming plan and the 2024 financing is not fully documented publicly.
What Pentagon Games actually announced
The company-linked announcement described a seed round intended to fund Web3 games, publishing, blockchain infrastructure, artificial intelligence and immersive experiences. The announcement and funding databases identify the round as $6 million and list the following organizations as backers:

The available materials do not establish whether the financing was equity, a SAFE, token financing, venture debt or a mixture. They also do not identify a lead investor, provide transaction documents or show how much capital remains. “Announced a $6 million seed round” is therefore more precise than saying the company independently verified $6 million in cash proceeds.
Polygon’s inclusion in the backer list does not establish that Polygon operates Pentagon Chain, that Pentagon is Polygon zkEVM, or that Polygon guarantees the network. It establishes only that Polygon was listed as a backer of the project or related financing.
Who Pentagon Games says it is
Pentagon has presented itself as an ecosystem and publisher rather than a single-game studio. Its stated components include a publishing fund and launchpad, blockchain infrastructure, AI-assisted development tools, games and entertainment intellectual property, NFTs, tokens, wallets and decentralized applications.
The company’s LinkedIn profile describes a Singapore-headquartered private company with 51–200 employees and displays a $6 million seed entry dated September 8, 2024. That date differs from the August 8 date used by the announcement and funding coverage; both dates should be treated as reported profile or publication dates, not silently merged.

What “zkEVM gaming” means
A zkEVM is an Ethereum-compatible execution environment that uses zero-knowledge or related validity proofs to verify transaction batches more efficiently than executing every transaction directly on Ethereum. EVM compatibility can let developers reuse Solidity contracts and familiar wallet tooling, while a Layer 2 can reduce per-transaction costs and settle final state to Ethereum.
For a game, that architecture can support lower-cost item transfers, token rewards, NFT marketplaces, rankings or other persistent ownership records. It can also make assets portable between compatible applications, at least in principle.
It does not automatically solve the difficult parts of online games. Gameplay still depends on latency, server architecture, anti-cheat systems, content quality, retention, account recovery, wallet usability, token economics and security. A validity proof can verify that a transaction was processed correctly; it cannot make a game enjoyable or ensure that a token has lasting liquidity.

Games and experiences: promises versus public status
Pentagon’s pages do not use one consistent status vocabulary. The catalog at pentagon.games/games and the current chain page describe some products differently, so “listed,” “beta” and “live” should not be treated as independent launch verification.

These distinctions matter. A browser game, a Telegram game, a WebXR space and a native VR title impose different hardware, performance and onboarding requirements. The public evidence does not justify describing the entire catalog as a shipped AR/VR metaverse.
PenXR is not automatically a shipping headset
Pentagon’s main site describes PenXR as an immersive WebXR platform for creating and exploring 3D spaces on desktop, mobile and AR-glasses devices. It also uses the phrase “Web3-enabled AR/VR headset.” No model number, manufacturer, technical specification sheet, retail price, shipping date or independent review is established in the available material.
That makes the hardware wording a company marketing claim, not proof of a commercially available consumer headset. WebXR software and a physical headset are separate products. Pentagon has previously said users could access its platform through a browser or computer without an AR/VR headset, but that statement does not verify current game compatibility or performance.
The $PEN and $PC token problem
In 2024, Pentagon materials described $PEN as the planned platform and gas token for in-game transactions, event access and other ecosystem functions. Its current chain page instead identifies $PC as Pentagon Chain’s native gas token and describes wallet, bridge, faucet, NFT-reward and community-event routes for acquiring or using it.
The current token explorer lists Pentagon (PEN) separately from $PC. Public materials do not establish whether $PC replaced $PEN, is a separate chain token, or how the two assets interoperate. They also do not establish which legal entities issued them, whether earlier tokenomics remain valid, or what acquisition rules apply in every jurisdiction.

Do not assume that owning either token is required to play every game. Requirements must be checked title by title. Token prices, liquidity, unlocks, contract security, bridge exposure and regulatory status require separate due diligence; the funding announcement is not evidence of investment value.
What the current Pentagon Chain page adds
The 2026 presentation is materially broader than the 2024 XR-publisher narrative. Pentagon Chain is shown alongside Pentagon Wallet and mobile AI tools, PentaSwap, an NFT marketplace, a cross-chain bridge, a block explorer, game links and agent registration or identity tools.
The page also displays company-reported figures of more than 912,000 wallets, 29,000 certified agents, 1.29 million transactions and 1.01 GWEI gas. These are dashboard claims with no independent validation in the available sources. Wallets are not necessarily players, transactions are not necessarily gameplay, and agent certificates are not equivalent to human users.
Pentagon says earlier backers supported selected Pentagon Games projects in earlier rounds and that Pentagon Chain operates independently. That wording leaves open whether the current chain is an expansion, rebrand, new product line or corporate separation. It should be described as a visible change in public positioning, not a confirmed corporate pivot.

Can you start without blockchain accounts?
Check whether the specific title supports ordinary browser or social login, or whether it requires a wallet, NFT or token. A chain landing page alone does not answer that question.

What happens if the chain or bridge is unavailable?
On-chain assets may be inaccessible during outages, and bridge transactions add smart-contract, liquidity and irreversible-transfer risk. Do not transfer funds until the destination network, contract and recovery path are clear.
Are the games meaningful without rewards?
Evaluate the core game loop separately from token incentives. A sustainable game should remain understandable and playable if rewards fall in value or disappear.
Are you eligible to use the services?
Pentagon’s chain page says its intended audience excludes residents of the United States, China and Canada and states that its information is not investment advice. Geographic eligibility, terms and wallet restrictions should be checked before use.
What developers and publishers should verify
- Public SDK, smart-contract and deployment documentation
- RPC reliability, indexing and service-level commitments
- Wallet abstraction, account recovery and gas sponsorship
- NFT standards, metadata permanence and marketplace liquidity
- Server-authoritative gameplay and anti-cheat design
- Bridge contracts, audits and incident-response procedures
- Publishing terms, revenue share and distribution commitments
- Whether the current AI-agent emphasis changes the original gaming value proposition
The public pages show a chain and connected dApps, but they do not establish a complete developer SDK, audited contracts, independent performance benchmarks or binding publishing terms.
Bottom line
Pentagon Games’ $6 million seed round was announced on August 8, 2024, with a notable list of named backers and an ambitious plan for zkEVM gaming, AI and AR/VR. By August 2026, the company’s public story centers on Pentagon Chain, $PC and AI-agent infrastructure as much as on games.
There are publicly listed titles and an operating-looking chain ecosystem, but the evidence does not show that AR/VR Web3 gaming has broadly “taken off,” nor does it prove that every announced product is shipping or that the 2024 financing directly funded every current service. The most useful way to evaluate Pentagon is to verify each game’s access requirements, distinguish company claims from independent evidence, and treat $PEN, $PC, NFTs and bridges as high-risk infrastructure rather than guaranteed paths to gameplay or returns.
