Increase Spirit in Path of Exile 2 by claiming Spirit-granting campaign rewards, equipping items with Spirit modifiers, using a sceptre, or taking a class/passive effect that adds Spirit. If you still cannot activate a persistent skill, check how much Spirit your existing skills reserve and which weapon set is assigned to that skill.
What Spirit does
Spirit is the resource used to activate and maintain skills with permanent effects. The PoE2DB Spirit reference describes it as “a reserve of power used to activate and maintain skills with permanent effects.” Persistent buffs and persistent minions consume Spirit while they are active.
There are two numbers to distinguish:
- Maximum Spirit: your total capacity.
- Available Spirit: capacity remaining after active persistent skills reserve their costs.
Increasing maximum Spirit does not automatically create more available Spirit if your current skills are already reserving it.
Get Spirit from campaign rewards
Spirit rewards are attached to campaign encounters and bosses. Current listings on the PoE2DB Spirit page include these examples:

The same page summarizes campaign rewards as 100 Spirit in total. Treat that as a version-sensitive database total rather than a permanent guarantee: patches, campaign progression and route changes can alter rewards. Read the item or quest text in your current game version before planning a build around an exact total.
Equip a sceptre
Sceptres grant additional Spirit and can provide bonuses to allies, making them the most direct weapon-based route. They are one-handed weapons, but two sceptres cannot be dual-wielded as a pair. A database summary lists a 100-Spirit sceptre value; the actual item in your game, its level requirements and its active weapon set determine what you receive.
Inspect the sceptre currently equipped in the weapon set used by your persistent skill. Swapping sets can change available Spirit because each set can have different equipment, passives and active persistent skills.

Look for Spirit on other equipment
Spirit modifiers are not restricted to sceptres. The reference lists examples on body armour, amulets, boots, staves and unique items. Examples include:

- A Solar Amulet with about +10–15 Spirit.
- Unique items with larger, build-specific Spirit bonuses.
These are example database values, not a universal best-in-slot list. Replacing equipment for Spirit can cost life, resistances, armour, evasion, energy shield, attributes or damage. Compare the Spirit gained with the defensive stats you would lose.
Early crafting examples
The reference lists Rune of the Blossom as an armour option that can grant +50 Spirit with a level-dependent reduction. It also lists Mystic Alloy as a guaranteed boot modifier of +10–15 Spirit. Crafting rules and values are patch-sensitive, so confirm the current in-game modifier before spending materials.

Use class and passive effects
Some classes and passives provide Spirit directly, but they often carry restrictions or opportunity costs.

These choices are not interchangeable. Beidat’s Will trades a quarter of your Life for capacity; Sacred Flow gives up Charm utility; and the Invoker restriction prevents ordinary Spirit gear from solving the problem. Check eligibility and the exact passive wording before rebuilding around one.

Persistent skills are reserving it
Open the Skills Panel and review every persistent buff and persistent minion. They reserve Spirit while active. Disable one temporarily, then check the available total; if it rises, your maximum was not the issue.

The skill is assigned to another weapon set
Weapon sets can show different available Spirit. Equipment, passives and persistent skills associated with one set may not apply to the other. In the skill’s assignment controls, select the weapon set you intend to use, then inspect Spirit again with that set active.
Reservation efficiency is not maximum Spirit
Reservation reduction or efficiency can lower the amount a qualifying skill consumes. It changes the cost, not your maximum Spirit. Use it when your capacity is adequate but a reservation is too expensive; use rewards, gear or passives when the capacity itself is too low.

- Claim every available campaign reward that explicitly grants maximum Spirit.
- Equip a Spirit-granting sceptre or compare Spirit modifiers on your current armour, amulet, boots and other slots.
- Review class and passive options, calculating Life, Charm-slot and equipment restrictions first.
- Assign the persistent skill to the intended weapon set and verify that set’s available Spirit.
- Remove or replace lower-priority persistent buffs and minions, or add reservation efficiency if your build supports it.
Choosing between routes
Compare each option on five points: flat maximum Spirit, level or class eligibility, lost defenses or attributes, whether it increases capacity or only reduces reservation cost, and whether it applies to the weapon set used by the skill. No single route is best for every character.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can two sceptres be dual-wielded for more Spirit?
No. Sceptres are one-handed weapons, but the reference states that two sceptres cannot be dual-wielded as a pair.
Does reservation efficiency increase maximum Spirit?
No. It reduces the Spirit consumed by eligible skills; campaign rewards, equipment and passives increase maximum Spirit.
Why does my Spirit change when I swap weapon sets?
Each weapon set can have different equipment, passives and persistent skills, so its available Spirit can differ.
