You drag a large item stack onto another item, then press Enter twice quickly at the “How many?” prompt. This is community-reported guidance, not an exploit verified by Bethesda, and the available evidence does not establish a guaranteed way to duplicate gold or obtain infinite money.
Check your game version before trying anything
These directions concern The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, not automatically the 2006 original. Bethesda describes Remastered as a modernized release that includes Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine, and additional downloadable content. The original PC manual documents the original game and cannot confirm that this Remastered exploit works there.
| Version or platform | What is established | What is not established |
|---|---|---|
| Oblivion Remastered on PC | Game8 reports a mouse-and-keyboard sequence using a high-count stack, a target item, a quantity prompt, and two quick Enter presses. | Bethesda has not confirmed that the exploit works on a particular current build. |
| Original 2006 Oblivion | The original manual provides game documentation. | The Remastered sequence should not be assumed to work in the original. |
| Console or controller play | No reliable control-by-control sequence is established in the available material. | Do not substitute controller buttons for the PC inputs and expect the same result. |
Reported PC method in Oblivion Remastered
The following is the sequence described in a Game8 search-result excerpt. Because the underlying page was not available for direct verification and no firsthand test is documented, treat it as a procedure to try rather than a guaranteed cheat.
- Launch Oblivion Remastered on PC and open the inventory.
- Have one item with a relatively high stack count and a separate item you want to receive the duplicated count.
- Using the mouse, drag the high-count stack onto the target item.
- When the “How many?” quantity prompt appears, press Enter twice in quick succession.
- Check both inventory entries. The reported behavior is that the target item receives the stack count from the first item.
The sequence depends on the quantity prompt appearing and on the timing of the two Enter presses. If the prompt closes normally, the stack does not change, or an item disappears, stop and reload a save rather than continuing to experiment on an important inventory.

Does this create infinite money?
Not on the evidence available here. The report describes copying an item-stack count to another item; it does not establish a gold-specific duplication command, a reliable merchant-selling route, a sale quantity, or a guaranteed infinite-money outcome.
You may be able to use duplicated non-gold items for ordinary in-game selling if the game accepts them, but that is an inference, not a documented result of this method. Do not treat “item dupe” and “infinite gold” as interchangeable claims.
Patch and platform caveats
Bethesda’s Update 1.2 notes, dated July 16, 2025, list fixes for quests, gameplay, the interface, crashes, and performance across platforms. The reviewed notes do not mention this duplication behavior. That omission neither confirms that the glitch remains nor proves that it was patched.
No extra controller, accessory, consumable, or repair tool is identified as necessary. The only detailed input sequence available is for a PC mouse and keyboard. Bethesda’s Switch 2 information distinguishes editions—the Deluxe release is the physical cartridge, while the standard release is digital—but it does not verify this exploit on Switch 2.

If the sequence fails
- Confirm that you are playing Oblivion Remastered on PC, rather than the original release or a console version.
- Use a separate save before testing so a failed inventory operation can be undone.
- Make sure the high-count stack and target item are distinct inventory entries and that the quantity prompt actually appears.
- Repeat the Enter presses promptly only after the prompt is visible; slower or different timing may simply complete a normal transfer.
- If it still fails, assume the behavior is unavailable on your build instead of forcing the sequence or treating a forum report as proof.
What Bethesda has—and has not—verified
Bethesda’s product and update information confirms the Remastered game, its included content, platforms, and the scope of Update 1.2. The reviewed official material does not provide a statement confirming this item-duplication exploit, its current status on any platform, or an infinite-money procedure. The control sequence therefore remains an unverified community report tied specifically to the Remastered PC context.

Try the reported drag-stack, “How many?”, double-Enter sequence only in Oblivion Remastered on PC and with a backup save. It may copy an item count, but current evidence does not prove that it works on every patch or platform—or that it produces infinite money.
