That makes the headline “use Edge, get Minecoins” directionally correct but technically incomplete. The reported offer was a time-limited promotional or Microsoft Rewards-style activity challenge, not a permanent Edge feature and not an automatic payment for merely installing the browser.

The report does not preserve a first-party campaign page with complete terms. It therefore does not establish the exact countries involved, age restrictions, account rules, expiration date, or whether every participant received the reward automatically.

Was installing Edge enough?
No. The available account says the promotion required more than installation: changing the default-browser setting and using Bing in Edge over five days. Treat those mechanics as the reported conditions of that campaign, not as a standing Microsoft rule. There is no evidence that simply downloading Edge generated Minecoins.
How it fit Microsoft Rewards
Microsoft Rewards turns activity across Bing and other Microsoft services into points, challenges, and redemptions. Microsoft’s current overview says available activities and benefits vary by country, region, and account: Microsoft Rewards overview. Current support guidance lists Bing searches and, in some circumstances, Edge-related activity among ways users can earn points, but those current rules do not prove that the 2022 Minecoins challenge remains available.

The business logic was to encourage Edge adoption, Bing searches, and deeper Microsoft-account engagement. Tech Times characterized the arrangement as a way to increase search traffic and user data collection; that is reporting and analysis, not a published Microsoft statement describing the company’s intent.

What 330 Minecoins buy
Minecoins are Minecraft’s virtual currency for the Bedrock Marketplace. Minecraft lists skin packs, texture packs, adventure maps, worlds, mash-ups, and other creator-made content among the items sold there: Minecraft’s Minecoins and Marketplace page.

The 2022 article compared 330 Minecoins with roughly $3 worth of content, but that is only an approximation. Microsoft says Minecoin prices can vary by region, device, and time on its redemption page: Minecoins redemption details. Minecoins are not general Microsoft account credit and are not ordinarily redeemable for cash; codes are generally nonrefundable except where required by law.
Bedrock versus Java: the important limitation
The reported promotion was for Bedrock Edition. Bedrock uses the Marketplace and Minecoin economy across supported versions of Windows, Xbox, Nintendo, Android, iOS, Chromebook, and Amazon Fire, subject to platform and account conditions. Java Edition does not use that same Marketplace system.

Consequently, a Java player could complete a browser activity and still have no equivalent Minecoin Marketplace balance to spend. Minecraft’s official purchase page lists the supported Minecoin ecosystem, while its purchase instructions explain the account-based buying process.
Is the 330-Minecoin offer still available?
The available evidence confirms the historical 2022 report, not a live 2026 campaign. Microsoft’s current Rewards pages continue to describe Bing, Edge, Xbox, and other activities, but they do not establish that this specific 330-Minecoin promotion is still running.

Do not assume that an old article guarantees a reward today. Offers can be withdrawn, replaced, exhausted, restricted to particular countries, or shown only to selected accounts. The absence of a promotion in one account also does not prove that no account can see it.

How to check for a current offer
- Sign in to the personal Microsoft account used for Edge, Bing, Xbox, and Minecraft.
- Open the Microsoft Rewards dashboard and review its available activities, promotions, and redeemable rewards.
- Read the displayed region, account, completion, and expiration terms before starting.
- Confirm whether the reward is Minecoins, Microsoft/Xbox credit, or only Rewards points; those are different benefits.
- Verify that the Minecraft account and edition you use support the Bedrock Marketplace.
- If a reward is issued, sign in to Bedrock with the same Microsoft account and check the Marketplace balance.
Microsoft states that users must be signed in and that earning methods differ by region and account. A work or school account, a different Minecraft login, or an account that was not targeted can explain why an offer does not appear.
Common reasons the promotion would not work
- It ended: The 2022 campaign may simply no longer exist.
- Regional or account targeting: Rewards availability is not universal.
- Account mismatch: Minecoins follow the Microsoft account used with Minecraft Marketplace. Activity completed on another account may not appear in the game.
- Wrong edition: Java does not use the Bedrock Minecoin Marketplace.
- Untracked activity: Bing use may not be associated with the eligible Rewards account if the user is signed out or using a different profile.
- Abuse or automation: Automated searches, VPN-based location spoofing, and suspicious activity can put Rewards benefits at risk. Third-party “free Minecoins” generators and code sellers should be avoided.
Is changing browsers worth a small Minecoin reward?
For a Bedrock player who already wants to try Edge, 330 Minecoins could cover a modest Marketplace purchase. For someone who prefers another browser, the benefit is less compelling: the reported task lasted five days, eligibility was uncertain, and the reward was not cash.
There is also an ecosystem trade-off. The campaign encouraged Edge use, Bing searches, and Microsoft-account sign-in, giving Microsoft more engagement in exchange for a platform-specific digital currency. Users should decide whether that convenience and data-sharing trade-off suits them rather than treating the reward as free, universal money.

Buying Minecoins or Marketplace Pass instead
If no promotion is visible, the official Minecoins page is the reliable purchase route. Minecraft also advertises Marketplace Pass at “free for 30 days then $3.99/month” on the retrieved page, but checkout eligibility and current terms should be verified at the time of purchase. A subscription may suit frequent Bedrock Marketplace users, while buying Minecoins is more appropriate for a specific one-time item. Neither option is relevant to Java’s separate game economy.
Verdict
Microsoft’s Edge-for-Minecoins offer was a genuine reported promotion from 2022, not a permanent browser feature. The reported deal involved five days of Edge and Bing activity, offered 330 Minecoins, and targeted Bedrock players. In 2026, the only dependable way to determine whether a related offer exists is to check the signed-in Microsoft Rewards dashboard and its current terms.
