Epic added a supported Windows-on-Arm path for Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) in August 2025, opening a route for protected multiplayer games to run on Windows 11 PCs with Arm processors such as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus. It is a developer-enablement update, not an automatic compatibility switch: studios must update their EAC integration and ship support for each game.
What Epic changed
Epic’s update adds Windows-on-Arm compatibility to the Easy Anti-Cheat interface, including an Arm-compatible client module and an updated bootstrapper path. EAC is part of Epic Online Services’ anti-cheat offering; the change gives developers using it components they can integrate into their games. It is not a new Windows setting that players can turn on.
Epic’s Epic Online Services “What’s New” documentation says developers need to update the bootstrapper and use the Windows-on-Arm-compatible client module. The August 12, 2025 announcement focused on Windows 11 on Arm, particularly Qualcomm Snapdragon X-family PCs, including the X Elite and X Plus. That is the main consumer category associated with the announcement; it should not be read as proof that every Arm-based Windows device has the same game compatibility or graphics capability.
Why anti-cheat needed its own compatibility work
Windows can emulate many x86 and x64 applications on Arm, so an ordinary game executable may run even when it was not compiled for Arm. Anti-cheat is a separate layer. Depending on a game’s implementation, it can interact more deeply with the operating system than a typical application, and may depend on architecture-specific components, interfaces, drivers or startup behavior. Those parts do not necessarily work through the same emulation path as the game itself.

Epic and Qualcomm said most PC games are built for x64 and that anti-cheat needs additional tooling to work on Windows running on Snapdragon. The EAC update addresses one of those obstacles: it gives developers a supported Arm-compatible route for EAC. It does not solve every other compatibility issue a game may have.
What the update means for players
| The update provides | It does not guarantee |
|---|---|
| A Windows-on-Arm-compatible EAC path developers can adopt | That every EAC-protected game works immediately |
| A way for studios to address an anti-cheat barrier on Windows 11 Arm PCs | That a game’s launcher, DRM, overlays, graphics drivers or other components are compatible |
| A potential route to multiplayer support for specific titles after their developers update them | A native Arm64 version of the game or acceptable performance on every Snapdragon PC |
A game might launch but still block matchmaking if its anti-cheat integration or platform checks do not support the device. Conversely, an EAC update alone says nothing about frame rates, graphics quality, shader compilation, or compatibility with capture tools, controller software and overlays. Online support remains title-specific.

The announcement concerns Epic’s Easy Anti-Cheat. It does not establish Windows-on-Arm support for BattlEye, Riot Vanguard, Ricochet, nProtect GameGuard or a publisher’s proprietary anti-cheat system. Support for one anti-cheat product cannot be used to infer that a different multiplayer game will work.
Where Fortnite fits
Epic and Qualcomm announced their work to bring Fortnite to Windows 11 on Arm on March 13, 2025. They described Fortnite as a title that would help battle-test the anti-cheat implementation. When Epic’s EAC compatibility update was reported on August 12, 2025, Fortnite was expected to be among the first games to use it.

Those announcements establish a development and compatibility path, not by themselves Fortnite’s current availability on every Snapdragon PC or a native Arm64 Fortnite client. Players should check Epic’s current Fortnite support information for the device and release they intend to use; the announcements do not provide a definitive current rollout list.
What game developers need to do
Epic’s documented integration requirements are to update the Windows anti-cheat client module and bootstrapper, then use the Windows-on-Arm-compatible module. Adopting those components is only part of shipping reliable support: a studio should validate the full game and release configuration before enabling it for players.

- Update the EAC components. Follow Epic’s current developer guidance for the latest Windows anti-cheat client module and updated bootstrapper.
- Integrate the Arm-compatible client module. Confirm the game’s packaging and launch flow select the appropriate component on Windows on Arm.
- Test the actual player journey. As an engineering consideration, test installation, updates, authentication, matchmaking, reconnects, and expected kick or ban handling with the game’s release configuration.
- Ship and communicate support. Players need the updated game or launcher build; the existence of Epic’s compatible components does not update a game automatically.
What to check before buying a Windows-on-Arm PC for games
If a particular multiplayer title matters to your purchase, verify that title rather than relying on a general Windows 11 or EAC claim. Check the publisher’s current support documentation and distinguish between reaching the main menu, playing online, and having the game officially supported.
- Check the specific game and storefront. A studio may update one release channel or launcher package before another.
- Confirm online play, not just launch. Anti-cheat, matchmaking and publisher platform checks can fail at different stages.
- Check whether the game is native or emulated. EAC compatibility does not mean the game executable is native Arm64; an x64 game may run under Windows emulation if its full integration permits it.
- Consider hardware and drivers separately. Snapdragon X PCs differ in graphics capability, and anti-cheat support does not establish performance or graphics-driver compatibility.
- Account for the rest of your setup. Launchers, DRM, overlays, monitoring tools, peripherals and account authentication can each have separate compatibility requirements.
- Review the seller’s refund terms before buying for one game. Policies vary by storefront and region; a refund is not guaranteed.
If an unsupported game fails, install current game, launcher, Windows and OEM graphics-driver updates, then consult the publisher’s support page. Repair or reinstall anti-cheat only if the publisher recommends that procedure. There is no universal player-side switch that enables Arm support, and bypassing or disabling anti-cheat is not a safe workaround for online play. If the title remains unsupported, use a compatible x86/x64 Windows PC, a supported console version, or cloud gaming where available.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Epic’s update make every Easy Anti-Cheat game compatible with Windows 11 on Arm?
No. The update gives developers a supported compatibility path; each studio still needs to adopt the updated components, test its game and release support. Other game components can also prevent it from working.
Does EAC support mean Fortnite is a native Arm64 game?
No. The announcements describe a route to support Fortnite on Windows 11 on Arm, but do not establish that the game has a native Arm64 build.
Does this update cover games using BattlEye or other anti-cheat software?
No. It concerns Epic’s Easy Anti-Cheat and does not establish compatibility for other anti-cheat products.
Can players enable EAC support themselves on an unsupported game?
No universal player-side switch is established. The developer must update and ship its integration; follow the game publisher’s support guidance rather than attempting to bypass anti-cheat.
