Apple’s separate Newsroom announcement spotlighted Madden, while the App Store provides the fuller release-day list. The lineup pairs one major sports name with three lighter picks.
Which games joined Apple Arcade in August 2026?
The four titles appear together in the U.S. App Store’s Apple Arcade catalog. Apple’s announcement calendar is not necessarily a complete monthly release list: its July 2026 announcement focused on Madden, while the catalog shows four games dated August 6. The count here is specific to the U.S. storefront and the listing available as of August 18, 2026; other regions may differ.

What to expect from each game
Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition
Madden is the most recognizable name in the group and the clearest draw for football fans. It is an Arcade Edition, so its name should not be taken to mean it is identical to the console or PC version. Apple’s announcement confirms the release and service, but the available information here does not establish a full feature-by-feature comparison, supported controllers, or every compatible device. Check the individual App Store listing for those details before downloading.

Retro Bowl College+
The title signals a college-football entry in the Retro Bowl family, giving the month a second football option alongside Madden. The Arcade listing does not establish whether progress, saves or purchases transfer from any separately available Retro Bowl game. Treat it as a distinct subscription listing unless its product page or developer confirms otherwise.
Everyday Puzzles: Mini Games+
This is the lineup’s broad puzzle collection, a natural fit for brief sessions or players who like switching between small challenges. The available catalog information does not specify the exact puzzle count or types, so the title alone is not enough to judge its range. Its subscription value is most apparent to people who prefer an ad-free collection over assembling similar games individually.

Water Sort Puzzle: Get Color+
This title points to the familiar sorting-puzzle format: organize colored contents by moving them between containers. It is a lightweight option rather than an obvious reason on its own to subscribe, especially for players already satisfied with other sorting games. Its appeal is the Arcade context, not a demonstrated difference in mechanics or content from every other game in the genre.
What does the “+” label mean?
Apple Arcade includes both original games and subscription editions of games associated with the wider App Store. The “+” suffix is a naming convention used for some of those Arcade entries; it does not by itself promise identical content, save compatibility, device support or update timing compared with a separately offered version. Apple describes Arcade games as having no ads or in-app purchases. Check each title’s own listing for specifics.

The four games are included with Apple Arcade rather than sold as separate Arcade purchases. Apple’s U.S. materials list the service at $6.99 per month with a one-month free trial. Apple also advertises three months free with eligible new Apple device purchases, subject to offer terms and eligibility; trial availability can depend on a customer’s prior subscription or offer history. Check Apple’s Arcade page for current U.S. terms.

Apple Arcade supports games across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and, for compatible titles, Apple Vision Pro. That platform list is not a guarantee that every game runs on every device: compatibility depends on the title, hardware, software and region. Use each game’s App Store compatibility section to confirm your device. Apple also says catalog availability can vary by region.
Apple says Arcade can be shared with up to six family members through Family Sharing; setup and eligibility are governed by Apple’s current subscription terms. Subscription access is not permanent ownership, and a game’s inclusion in the catalog may change.

For NFL fans who want an Apple-device football game, Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition is the most substantial reason to look at this month’s additions. Retro Bowl College+ offers another football-flavored option with a different series identity. The two puzzle games broaden the catalog but are less persuasive as standalone reasons to pay if you already have similar titles.
The practical calculation is whether you expect to play several Arcade games, value an ad- and in-app-purchase-free catalog, or can share the subscription with family. If you want only one casual puzzle game, buying or playing an alternative individually may suit you better; if you want lasting ownership, a subscription is a poor match. Apple Arcade’s catalog and terms are listed at Apple’s official service page.
