Nubia/REDMAGIC launched it in China on March 29, 2024, at CNY 6,499 (about US$899 at the launch-time conversion) for a reported 16GB RAM/512GB storage model. It is a design-and-accessory collaboration built around the RedMagic 9 Pro+ platform, not a faster replacement. As of August 18, 2026, available evidence points to a discontinued or limited China-market edition rather than a current global retail launch.
What happened to the Bumblebee announcement?
Pre-launch coverage described the phone as an upcoming Bumblebee version, which is why the future-tense headline still circulates. The confirmed event was the Chinese launch on March 29, 2024. It should not be confused with the earlier RedMagic 7S Pro Transformers Edition, which also used Bumblebee branding. Launch reporting identified China, including Chinese retail channels such as JD.com, and did not confirm a broad global rollout. Gizmochina reported the launch and price; Xiaomi Today described the China-first availability.
What makes it a Bumblebee Edition?
The special edition is primarily a collector-focused cosmetic and bundle revision. Reports describe a yellow-and-black exterior with metallic and carbon-fiber-style textures, Autobot branding, and “BUMBLEBEE” engraving. The software adds themed wallpapers, icons and interface elements, while the retail presentation uses Transformers artwork and custom packaging. There is no reported exclusive processor, display refresh rate or performance architecture.
Reported specifications
Launch and reseller coverage describe the following configuration. Firmware, modem bands and charger certification can vary by region, so treat these as reported Bumblebee Edition specifications rather than a guarantee for every imported unit.

These figures broadly match the standard RedMagic 9 Pro+ platform. The 16GB/512GB trim may be more generous than some standard-market configurations, but that is a memory and storage difference—not evidence of a faster chipset or better sustained gaming performance. Flashfly’s launch coverage lists the hardware and bundle.

Accessory names and contents can differ between import listings. One reseller identifies the region as CN and lists the charger, cooler, emblem, case and documentation. Confirm every included item with the specific seller; a handset-only listing is not equivalent to the original collector bundle. See the Touch Ukraine listing for an example package description.
Price and availability
Original launch price
The reported China launch price was CNY 6,499 for the 16GB/512GB configuration. Coverage converted that to approximately US$899 at the time; it was not an official US MSRP and should not be treated as today’s resale price.

China and import channels
The release was identified as China-market. Import stores may list the model, including a Bumblebee option on Giztop’s RedMagic 9 Pro+ page, while Panda-Wagon’s collaboration listing documents the themed accessories. Those pages are reseller leads, not proof of official local-market stock, current pricing or warranty coverage.
What the 2026 anniversary campaign means
REDMAGIC’s official anniversary materials listed one “RedMagic 9 Pro+ Bumblebee Limited Edition 16GB+512GB” as a milestone prize. That confirms the brand still recognized the edition as a limited product and retained—or could access—a unit for promotion. It does not establish a new retail launch, a 2026 hardware revision or general availability. See the official anniversary page.

Buying an imported China-region unit
A current reseller listing marked CN should be treated as a core buying condition. Check these points before paying:
- Firmware and Google services: Ask whether Google Play and Google Mobile Services work, which interface languages are available, and whether the seller installed a modified ROM. Confirm compatibility with banking, streaming, DRM and notification-dependent apps.
- Carrier bands: Compare the exact model’s LTE and 5G bands with your carrier and confirm VoLTE requirements. “5G” alone does not establish US compatibility.
- Updates and bootloader: Request the software version, update method and bootloader status. A modified ROM can affect updates and app certification.
- Warranty and returns: Get the warranty jurisdiction, repair route, charger plug and return conditions in writing. Imported units may have only seller-backed support.
- Authenticity and condition: Confirm the model number and whether the phone is new, refurbished or resealed. Use payment with buyer protection.
- Complete bundle: Verify the cooler, 165W charger, cable, case, emblem, SIM tool and original packaging if the seller is charging a collector premium.
Is it worth buying in 2026?
Why a collector or gamer might want it
- The yellow-and-black Transformers design is far more distinctive than the standard phone.
- The bundled cooler and charger can be useful to mobile gamers as well as collectors.
- The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 5,500mAh battery, shoulder triggers and 16GB/512GB storage remain capable for Android gaming.
Why it may be a poor fit
- By 2026, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is an older gaming-phone platform.
- Most of the premium pays for styling, scarcity and accessories rather than performance.
- China firmware, carrier support, warranty and repair access can require compromises.
- Reseller prices can exceed the original CNY 6,499 substantially, and no dependable August 18, 2026 street price is established here.
Choose the standard RedMagic 9 Pro+ or a newer REDMAGIC model if you mainly want performance, longer remaining support and simpler regional service. Choose the Bumblebee Edition only when the character design and complete original bundle justify the import risk and premium.
