Blocklords launched Dynasty, a web-based companion app for its medieval strategy game, on Coinbase’s Base blockchain in July 2024. It brought Heroes from the PC game into new activities—including Duels, Missions, strategic marriages and Fallen Hero memorials—while adding a high-stakes twist: Heroes could be lost permanently. This is a launch-era account, not confirmation that Dynasty or its original mechanics remain available today.
What Dynasty added to Blocklords
Dynasty was presented as an expansion to Blocklords, not a replacement for the PC game or a separate franchise. Players could use Heroes they had developed in the PC version within the web-based companion app. It connected to the existing Blocklords Portal and asset ecosystem, adding a family-and-legacy layer to the broader medieval strategy experience.
At launch, each player was reportedly gifted a Hero. The announced activities included:
- Duels: pit Heroes against one another.
- Missions: send Heroes on missions for rewards; strategic choices could affect outcomes and rewards.
- Strategic marriages: form alliances and support family or empire stability.
- Fallen Heroes: lay dead Heroes to rest or commemorate them.
- House Renown: earn or use this progression and reward resource through gameplay.
The launch feature set should not be confused with the game’s full battle system. The launch report described battles as planned for later in 2024, not as a feature already available in Dynasty at release.

Why Hero permadeath mattered
Permadeath was a defining announced mechanic: a Hero could be lost permanently. That raises the stakes of missions and combat, since a Hero is not simply a disposable unit that returns after a match. It also makes decisions about Heroes more consequential when they are tied to digital assets.
The launch account did not specify the exact conditions for a Hero’s death, whether any recovery options existed, or how a death affected an associated transferable asset. Players should not assume particular rules, protections or asset consequences from the word “permadeath” alone.

Gamedrop 3: Chests, Orbs and a limited Mythic Orb
Dynasty formed part of Blocklords’ third “Gamedrop,” which introduced Orbs and Dynasty Chests. The announcement said players could use House Renown to purchase Chests, which could contain several items, including Orbs. The stated goal was to craft a scarce Mythic Orb, with a reported limit of 100 units.
A supply limit is not evidence of market value. The launch report did not give Chest drop probabilities, prices, expected returns, resale liquidity or transaction-fee details. It also does not establish that the 100-unit limit remains in force today.

Base’s role—and what “on Base” means
Dynasty launched on Base, an Ethereum layer-2 network incubated by Coinbase. The launch report described Base as a choice intended to offer lower transaction costs than Ethereum mainnet and simplify onboarding. Base was the blockchain layer selected for Dynasty; it was not the game itself, and the announcement does not mean Coinbase launched or operated Blocklords.
Blocklords’ broader asset system was described as spanning Polygon, Immutable X and Base through the Blocklords Portal. The report said the Portal could move assets across those networks without third-party intermediaries. That description does not establish that every asset could be transferred, used in every game mode, or moved without fees or compatibility constraints. The report did not provide transfer times, supported token standards, bridge-contract details or recovery procedures.

What Blocklords reported about its audience
In the July 2024 GamesBeat launch report, Blocklords said it had surpassed 150,000 downloads since September and reported about 29,000 daily active players in the preceding month. The company also cited roughly 15,000 battle passes sold. These are company-reported, historical figures—not independently audited measures or current player counts.
The same report said a 1,000-person closed beta recorded 25,000 transactions. Transactions are not the same as unique players. The CEO also described a team of 46 and approximately $19 million raised; those are launch-period company statements, not independent assessments of funding or commercial performance.

The larger Blocklords vision
Blocklords was positioned as a player-driven medieval MMO and grand-strategy game, with inspirations cited including Crusader Kings and Civilization. The launch coverage described community participation in narrative development: players could vote on proposals and submit stories that might enter the game’s canon. That kind of participation does not, by itself, mean players collectively own Blocklords’ overall intellectual property.
What players should verify before relying on launch details
The available launch coverage is historical: GamesBeat published its report on July 4, 2024, and updated the page on June 18, 2025. It does not establish Dynasty’s availability or maintenance status as of August 2026, whether its mechanics or asset limits changed, or whether planned battles were later delivered. Nor does it document current account setup, wallet requirements, supported devices, gas payments, reward rates or purchasing and withdrawal procedures.
Anyone considering a return to the game should confirm current access and rules through Blocklords’ official channels before connecting a wallet or committing assets. The launch report describes Dynasty as web-based, not as a native mobile app. For players, the central trade-offs in the announced design were permanent Hero-loss risk, blockchain and multi-chain complexity, uncertain asset liquidity, and the possibility that roadmap features would arrive later than launch.
GamesBeat’s July 2024 launch report, updated June 2025 is the source for the launch features, network description and company-reported figures discussed above.
